Abstract

Indonesia's largest revenue comes from taxes which function to fund expenses. The increase in tax revenues must be in line with Indonesia's economic growth which is reflected in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP). This study analyzes the effect of GDP revenue on total tax revenue in Indonesia during 1988-2021 using control variables including; the money supply (M2), the population (POP), and the amount of exports and imports (XM). GRDP is the main variable because it has 17th sectors which an important in supporting economic growth and increasing the burden of tax objects. This study used a quantitative descriptive method with the Newey-West HAC method. The results showed that this study was unbiased, GDP had a positive-significant effect as indicated by the percentage of GDP growth with an average of 7% during the study period. The control variables that have a positive-significant effect are M2 and XM, and the population is not significant because the increase in the population does not support awareness of paying taxes. When there is an increase in GDP, it can provide an increase in tax revenue, as well as if there is an increase in the money supply (M2) and exports-imports (XM). Increasing revenue in GDP, M2 and XM can support the creation of new revenue objects for taxes, this is what will support the development process, especially in terms of financing. In order to increase financing for the development process, the government continues to seek sources of tax objects, not only from sectors in GDP, but also from potential export-import, and all transactions that can increase the money supply.

Abstract

Various national and regional level reports project that Indonesia's economic growth will be driven by the development of digital technology. Das et al. (2016) predicts that, by 2025, digitalization will have an impact of 150 billion US dollars (US) and additional jobs for 3.7 million people. This potential can be seen from, among other things, the number of start-up technology companies (or commonly referred to as startups) which is growing significantly.). Das et al. (2018) also projects that the potential for electronic commerce (e-commerce) in Indonesia in 2022 will reach 55 billion to 65 billion dollars. The impact will be felt on the absorption of labor, including female workers. This calculation gives great hope for Indonesia to accelerate its economic growth. However, to what extent can growth driven by the development of the digital economy guarantee an increase in the quality of life for all levels of society? Can the digital economy in the future reduce inequality which is currently quite high? Furthermore, the Life Skills program is intended to improve the Life Skills ability which is specifically organized to provide learning opportunities for young people of productive age in order to acquire knowledge, skills and develop an entrepreneurial spirit which is supported by a creative, innovative, professional, responsible mental attitude, and dares to take risks in managing their potential and their environment as a provision to improve their quality of life. The purpose of this study is to analyze the role of digital literacy in economic technology and the role of life skills programs in reducing poverty.

Abstract

The provision of digital services can support the need for integrated financial services, enhance operational cost efficiency, and improve financial performance. This research aims to examine the impact of providing digital services on the financial performance of banks before and during COVID-19, as well as to compare the impact on Islamic banks and conventional banks in Indonesia. This research utilizes secondary data from 15 Islamic banks and 20 conventional banks in Indonesia during the years 2017 - 2022, and estimates by static panel data model such as the fixed effect model (FEM) and random effect model (REM). The findings of this research indicate that the development of digital services significantly influences the financial performance of both Islamic and conventional banks, both before and during COVID-19. Furthermore, there are differences in the impact of providing digital services between Islamic banks and conventional banks before COVID-19. These findings may indicate the effectiveness of banks in developing services and enhancing overall technology adoption.

Abstract

The rapid growth of MSMEs in Indonesia provides great opportunities for the national economy. However, to increase the competitiveness and sustainability of MSMEs, a deeper understanding of the factors that influence their performance is needed. This research specifically focuses on the role of financial literacy, financial inclusion and financial technology in driving MSME profit growth in Depok City. Apart from that, this research also considers gender roles as a differentiating factor. This research uses a quantitative approach by collecting data through questionnaires distributed to 100 MSMEs in Depok City who have utilized financial technology. The data obtained was then analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) method. The results of the analysis show that financial literacy, financial inclusion and financial technology have a positive and significant influence on MSME profit growth. These findings indicate that increasing financial literacy, expanding access to financial services, and utilizing financial technology are strategic steps to improve the performance of MSMEs. Although gender is not proven to moderate the relationship between independent variables and profit growth, this research provides an important contribution in developing policies to support the growth of MSMEs in Indonesia. The results of this research can be a basis for governments, financial institutions, and other stakeholders to design more effective programs in increasing financial literacy, expanding financial inclusion, and encouraging the adoption of financial technology among MSMEs.

Abstract

The study was to examine the relationship between the volatility of the dollar exchange rate on international trade variables, namely exports and imports, in 3 Muslim-majority countries. This study analyzes the possibility that the volatility of the dollar exchange rate can hamper the economy of a country. The method used is the Autoregressive Distributed Lag and Error Correction Model (ARDL-ECM) to analyze the short-term and long-term relationship between the volatility of the dollar exchange rate against international trade in Indonesia, Pakistan, and Turkey. And to see the causality relationship between variables, the Granger-Causality method is used. The data used are monthly data for the period January 2006 to December 2021. From this research, it can be seen that in the long term there is no relationship between exchange rate volatility and export performance except in Turkey. Meanwhile, there is a relationship between exchange rate volatility and import performance in Pakistan and Turkey. In the short term in the export dependent model, Turkey is the country that takes the longest to respond to shocks to international trade, while in the import dependent model, Indonesia takes the longest to respond to shocks and Pakistan is the fastest country.

Abstract

This paper examines the performance and volatility of Islamic equity portfolios in contrast to their conventional counterparts during the pre-pandemic, COVID-19 pandemic, and post-pandemic periods. Using daily data gathered from February 2019 to December 2023, this study employs the Fama-French factor models alongside GARCH-type models to evaluate risk-adjusted returns and volatility of portfolios. Furthermore, shariah screening rules, particularly those related to debt ratios, are integrated into the portfolio construction process to assess their influence on performance. The results show that while Islamic equity portfolios generally deliver lower returns, they demonstrate significantly lower volatility. This relation implicitly suggests a trade-off between risk and return, which are amplified further during periods of market stress. These findings contribute to the growing literature on Islamic finance by demonstrating the stability provided by shariah-compliant equity portfolios. Future research may explore sector-specific performance or extend the framework to other economies.

Abstract

The swift growth of economic relations between nations has led to greater participation in expanding trade flows, thereby fostering increased capital exchange among the countries involved. This study aims to analyze the effect of exchange rates, inflation, interest rates, and gross domestic product on Indonesia's trade balance from January 2014 to December 2023. The data used in this study are secondary data with monthly periods obtained from Badan Pusat Statistik (BPS), Bank Indonesia (BI), and the Ministry of Trade. The analysis method employed is the Error Correction Model (ECM), aimed at examining the short-term and long-term effects of the variables studied. The results indicate that, in the short term, the variables of exchange rate, inflation, interest rates, and gross domestic product have no significant effect on the trade balance. However, in the long term, the variables of inflation, interest rates, and gross domestic product have a significant effect on the trade balance, while the exchange rate variable has no significant effect on the trade balance in the long term.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Pendapatan PKH, Pendidikan PKH, Kesehatan PKH, Tingkat Inflasi, Kesejahteraan Masyarakat Miskin Abstract Family Hope Program is designed to alleviate poverty in Indonesia, including West Java, meet their economic, educational and health needs. Despite the large amount of assistance per household head each year, the poverty rate in West Java continues to increase. The.objective of this study is to analyze the impact of PKH and the inflation rate on welfare for those impoverished in West Java. This study covers 18 districts and 9 cities in West Java with a sample of 135 PKH beneficiary families from 2018-2022, using probability sampling techniques and multiple regression analysis. The result show that PKH income and PKH health have a positive significant effect on the welfare of the poor, while PKH education has no significant effect. In contrast, the inflation rate has a negative significant effect on the welfare of the poor. This indicates a rise in income and health can improve welfare, while high inflation can reduce it. These variables simultaneously affect the welfare of the poor in West Java, emphasizing the importance of holistic policies in addressing poverty.
