Abstract

Breast Milk is important to support the growth of the composition of an infant's gut after birth. Breast milk contains bacteria that are beneficial to the infant’s gut. These bacteria play the role to inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria in an infant’s body that can cause infections with keeping the acidity of the infant’s gut. This study aims to determine the relationship of the total colony of LAB in breast milk and pH feces or infant based on the stage of lactation. This study was an observational study with a cross-sectional design conducted on 25 postpartum mothers who breastfed exclusively in the working territory of Andalas, Ambacang, and Ikur Koto Community Health Center, Padang. Samples were selected by consecutive sampling. Data normality was tested by Shapiro-Wilk, Friedman test for assessing difference, Spearman and Pearson correlation test to assess the correlation between total colony lactic acid bacteria in breast milk and pH feces of infants. The result shows a significant difference in total colony LAB in lactation stage with p=0,021 (p<0,05) and median the highest LAB in colostrum is 2600000 CFU/ml. And significant difference pH infant’s feces with p=0,001 (p<0,05) and median on transitional stage is 5,42. The result show was a significant correlation between total colony lactic acid bacteria in breast milk and pH feces of infants on transitional stage with p=0,001 (r=-0,729)

Abstract

Abstract

Premature Rupture of Membranes (PROM) is a significant complication in pregnancy, posing increased risks of morbidity and mortality for both mother and baby. Previous studies have shown varied results regarding the association of maternal age and parity with the incidence of PROM. This study aims to analyze the relationship between age and parity with the occurrence of PROM at Dr. H. Mohamad Rabain Hospital in 2023. A case-control design was employed with a total sample of 352 respondents, divided into case and control groups. The majority of respondents were aged between 20-35 years (76.6%), and most were multiparous (67.6%). Statistical analysis revealed no significant relationship between age and the incidence of PROM (p-value 0.063; OR 0.608; CI 95% 0.372-0.996). However, a significant association was found between parity and the occurrence of KPD (p-value 0.000; OR 0.608; CI 95% 0.372-0.996). The study concludes that age is not a significant factor in the incidence of PROM at Dr. H. Mohamad Rabain Hospital in 2023, while parity shows a significant relationship. Further research is recommended to explore other potential factors influencing the occurrence of PROM.

Abstract

Abstract

Stunting emerges as a consequential nutritional challenge among toddlers, resulting from prolonged exposure to malnutrition. Rooted in familial caregiving practices, particularly feeding habits, this study delves into the nexus between feeding behaviors and the prevalence of stunting among impoverished families in Palembang. Employing a quantitative approach through a Cross Sectional Study, the research encompasses 110 mothers with children aged 24-59 months from economically disadvantaged backgrounds in Palembang. The findings underscore a noteworthy correlation between feeding habits and the incidence of toddler stunting, yielding a significant p-value of 0.000 and an Odds Ratio of 14.389. Noteworthy feeding practices influencing stunting include the administration of colostrum at birth (p-value = 0.020), diversified feeding (p-value = 0.000), nutritionally balanced meals (p-value = 0.003), maternal food preparation (p-value = 0.005), consistent snack provision (p-value = 0.002), age-appropriate portion adjustments (p-value = 0.042), offering food choices during boredom (p-value = 0.001), active feeding assistance (p-value = 0.001), maternal efforts to encourage eating (p-value = 0.000), and fostering an interest in eating (p-value = 0.007). Comparatively, non-stunted toddlers exhibit superior feeding habits when juxtaposed with their stunted counterparts within similar economic circumstances. This research illuminates the pivotal role of feeding practices in mitigating or exacerbating toddler stunting, thereby advocating for targeted interventions to enhance nutritional well-being in vulnerable populations.

Abstract

Lower back pain during pregnancy occurs due to changes in the body's center of gravity, pelvic joint relaxation, and increased lumbar lordosis caused by weight gain and musculoskeletal adaptation as pregnancy progresses. Non-pharmacological approaches, such as deep breathing relaxation techniques, have been used in antenatal care to help pregnant women reduce pain and anxiety intensity without the side effects of medication. This Community Service activity was carried out on 20 pregnant women in the third trimester in the Sukajadi Health Center Area , Talang Kelapa District, Banyuasin Regency. The activity was carried out at the Sukajadi Health Center The activity was carried out in September-November 2021. The Community Service Activity aims to apply knowledge and technology so that the community can enjoy its results and feel the benefits. In the implementation of the Pengabmas activity, the service provider strives to make it as effective as possible so that it does not make pregnant women feel tired from the activity. The mother seemed enthusiastic in participating in the service activities, actively asking questions related to complaints during pregnancy. The mothers pain is reduced.
