Abstract

Taubat is one of the religious commandments that man must do. In the Koran, there are many verses that command to repent. On the other hand, the act of killing deliberately is regarded by some mufasir as an act that which there is no repentance (taubat) for the perpetrator. This study wants to see what verses in the Koran are indicated to have a connection with taubat for perpetrators of intentional murder and its interpretation and how the mufasir views related to taubat for perpetrators of intentional murder. This research is a library study and the data is presented using thematic methods. The mufasir referred to in this study are Ibn Katsīr, Hamka, M. Quraish Shihab, al-Qurthubi and Wahbah al-Zuhaili. The results showed that some scholars from salāf circles argued that it was not accepted by people who had committed intentional killings. Meanwhile, the scholars of both salāf and khalāf hold the view that people who have committed the act of killing intentionally still have the opportunity to repent to Allah. Then in an effort to repent, the mufasir took the view that whoever repents of the deeds of wrongdoings earnestly and cheerfully and works righteous charity, then Allah will abolish His torment and bestow upon him a reward.

Abstract

The life of modern society, which is currently marked by the development of technology and communication, has shown significant progress. However, it turns out that this progress has also given rise to quite complex problems. The pressures of life in this era have diminished individuals' ability to practice self-control, making them vulnerable to various mental and spiritual illnesses. By combining the principles of Stoicism philosophy and the teachings of the Quran, this research explores how self-control can serve as an effective solution to various life challenges nowadays. The method used is qualitative, and data from various literature sources were collected to analyze the principles of self-control from both perspectives. The findings indicate that self-control can be achieved by combining Stoic principles and Quranic teachings. Both provide effective guidance for managing emotions and directing behavior positively in the face of modern life's challenges. The integration of these perspectives offers a holistic and practical approach to enhancing self-control through the development of self-awareness, determination to accept Allah's decrees, thinking before acting, and exercising patience when facing trials in life.

Abstract

This article examines how to respond and deal with hate speech through two verses of the Quran, namely al-Ḥujurāt (49:11) and al-Anʿām (6:108). The widespread dissemination of hate speech across various platforms has raised concerns. This activity not only has the potential to incite discriminatory behavior and provoke violence, but the larger issue at hand is the threat of national disintegration and social disharmony. Therefore, using Fazlur Rahman's double movement method, a socio-historical contextual analysis of the period during which these verses were revealed is conducted to uncover the moral message of the Quran and contextualize it for the present day. The results of this study indicate that Surah Al-Ḥujurāt (49:11) and Surah al-Anʿām (6:108) emphasize the importance of promoting politeness and respect in communication, by refraining from using derogatory titles or nicknames that may demean or offend others. It also stresses the importance of self-control to avoid engaging in spreading hate speech, both in verbal and online interactions. Additionally, responsible use of social media is highlighted, prioritizing healthy discussions and dialogues to prevent online conflicts that could disrupt societal harmony.

Abstract

The Seurembek tradition is a collective Qur’an recitation practice with deep spiritual and social meaning for the local Muslim community in Pidie Regency, Aceh. This practice not only functions as a form of worship but also as a space for social interaction that strengthens community ties and provides meaning to life for its practitioners. This study aims to examine the contribution of the Seurembek tradition to individual psychological well-being and community resilience through a positive psychology framework. A descriptive, qualitative approach was employed, with data collection conducted through in-depth interviews, participatory observation, and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) involving Seurembek practitioners, religious leaders, and local community members.
