Abstract

Everybody aspires and deserves some personal well-being. This kind of well-being is subjective, and it is shaped by the way individuals perceive and feel the situations surrounding their lives. This study aimed to investigate the effect of gratitude and social support on fishermen's subjective well-being. This study's subjects were 299 fishermen living in the coastal area of Pelabuhan Ratu, who were chosen through an accidental sampling technique. In collecting data, subjective well-being was measured using Flourishing Scale and Scale of Positive and Negative Experience, Gratitude Scale, which was based on Gratitude Resentment and Appreciation Test, and Social Support Scale that was based on Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support. Multiple regression analysis showed that the entire independent variables significantly influenced subjective well-being. Meanwhile, each dimension's regressive coefficient on the independent variables showed four sub-variables that significantly influenced the dependent variables: sense of abundance, simple appreciation, appreciation to others, and family support.

Abstract

The seurumbek, a mushaf manuscript by Tgk. Chik Dipasi, is highly revered and considered sacred by the community of Waido. The presence and recitation of seurumbek hold great significance in the keunduri blang tradition in Waido, setting it apart from other regions in Aceh. This research aims to explore the description of the implementation of seurumbek recitation and delve deeper into the symbolic meanings created within this tradition. The study employs a qualitative approach as part of field research, utilizing observation, interviews, and direct documentation techniques presented descriptively. The research is conducted in Waido, Pidie Regency, Aceh. The findings reveal that the seurumbek recitation occupies a central position in the keunduri blang tradition, evident from the special treatment it receives, both in storage and during the recitation process. Seurumbek recitation also creates complex symbols reflecting the relationship between humans and God, ancestors, others, and oneself. This practice serves as a mediator to draw closer to Allah, with symbolic actions such as shading, kissing, and showing respect for seurumbek reflecting reverence for Tgk. Chik Dipasi. Seurumbek recitation also symbolizes social relationships by strengthening Islamic brotherhood in the community. Additionally, it brings tranquility, patience, and sincerity as symbols of an individual's relationship with oneself.

Abstract

The participation of women in the workforce creates challenges and problems. Those with various roles in their lives must be good at playing and balancing these successfully. This study focuses on the work-life balance factor by exploring the predictor factors including personality, family social support, and childcare responsibilities, as moderated by gender role attitude. A work/ nonwork interference and enhancement scale, mini-IPIP, gender role beliefs scale, and social support scale were developed for the data collection. A sample of 220 married female workers was identified using purposive sampling. The data analysis, which used multiple regression and a modgraph, shows a significant effect of personality, social support, and childcare responsibilities on the work-life balance moderated by gender role attitude. Four independent variables with significant influence are neuroticism, openness to experiencing family support, gender role attitude and there is a moderating effect on neuroticism and family support. The implication is the need to provide a comfortable work environment and arrangement of work patterns so that women's work-life balance can be achieved positively.

Abstract

Watching films is an essential part of human recreational needs that becomes increasingly pressing with age and changing requirements. With advancements in technology, watching films has become a primary necessity due to easy accessibility and the availability of streaming platforms. This study aims to explore the effects of work fatigue, work stress, and self-efficacy on employee performance in the film industry. The research population consists of film workers at PT. MD Pictures, with samples taken using purposive sampling methods. Data were analyzed using Path Analysis with the aid of JASP 19.0 software. The tests employed in this research include construct validity tests, path coefficient analysis, and hypothesis testing. The results indicate that self-efficacy significantly mediates the effect of work stress on the performance of film crews (t = 5.590, p < 0.001), but this does not hold for work fatigue (t = -0.120, p = 0.904). Work fatigue has a significant direct effect on performance (t = 2.733, p = 0.006), while its indirect effect through self-efficacy is not significant (t = -0.120, p = 0.904). Conversely, work stress does not have a significant direct effect on performance (t = 0.318, p = 0.751), but its indirect effect through self-efficacy is significant (t = 5.590, p < 0.001). Overall, the direct effect of work fatigue on performance is greater than its indirect effect, while for work stress, the indirect effect through self-efficacy is more significant than the direct effect. This research model shows that 88.7% of the variability in film crew performance can be explained by work fatigue, work stress, and self-efficacy, with an R² value of 0.887. Additionally, 40.3% of the variability in self-efficacy can be explained by work fatigue and work stress, as indicated by an R² value of 0.403. These findings suggest that improving self-efficacy can help mitigate the negative impact of work stress on the performance of film crews. However, in cases of work fatigue, direct intervention to address fatigue is more necessary than enhancing self-efficacy.

Abstract

Work engagement is a positive psychology construct widely sought after and developed in various countries. Psychometric validation requires statistical analysis to measure and differentiate individuals across different cultures. This study aims to validate the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale-17 (UWES-17) instrument on hospitality workers in state-owned companies in Indonesia. The study sample comprised 1,638 individuals, representing various positions and types of hospitality service jobs within the land transportation sector of a state-owned enterprise. A non-probability sampling approach, specifically convenience sampling, was employed, selecting participants based on their accessibility and willingness to participate. The participants, aged between 18 and 62, came from diverse fields and work areas. Analysis of item responses in the test was the Rasch Model with a study focus on item fit and person fit from the UWES-17 Scale. In addition, assumption tests of unidimensionality and local independence were performed to ensure the validity of the measurement model. The scale’s reliability was also assessed to evaluate the instrument’s consistency. The results showed that the items were overall fit, but the criteria for person fit were unmet. This is due to the tendency for uniformity and too many diverse positions and cultural tendencies of state-owned companies. The implication is that further item development and confirmation are needed on the constituent aspects, especially the absorption constituent items. Additionally, developing a more consistent shorter version or discovering other dimensions of work engagement that are specific to collectivist societies may be possible.

Abstract

Abstract

The 2017 Jakarta governor election had encouraged polarization among Muslims, including among media social users: those who agreed and those who disagreed with voting for Basuki Ahok Tjahaja Purnama since he was prosecuted for allegedly committing blasphemy. This study has examined the cognitive pattern amongst disputants: whether cognitive pattern and religiosity contribute to political disagreements or not. Participants were Indonesia’s Muslim social media users (N=300). Using multiple regression analysis, the findings have demonstrated that analytical thinking produces higher disagreement than holistic thinking. In addition, higher level of religiosity produces higher disagreement.

Abstract

The COVID-19 The COVID-19 pandemic has driven significant shifts in consumer shopping behavior, particularly among working women who have become increasingly reliant on e-commerce platforms to meet their needs, including the purchase of natural beauty products. This study aims to identify the direct and indirect effects of electronic word-of-mouth (e-WOM) and brand image on online purchase decisions, with purchase intention serving as a mediating variable. A quantitative approach was employed, using a survey distributed to 410 working women in the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek) who had experience purchasing natural beauty products online. Data were collected using a four-point Likert-scale questionnaire and analyzed using SPSS and Mplus version 7. The results indicated that e-WOM significantly influenced purchase intention (? = 0.380; p < 0.001), and brand image also had a significant positive effect on purchase intention (? = 0.492; p < 0.001). Furthermore, consumers' intention to make a purchase has a significant influence on their purchasing decisions. (? = 0.169; p = 0.030). The indirect effect of e-WOM on purchase decisions through purchase intention was also significant (? = 0.064; p = 0.045), as was the indirect effect of brand image through purchase intention (? = 0.083; p = 0.038). These findings highlight the significant impact of e-WOM and brand image on influencing consumer intentions and purchasing decisions among female consumers of natural beauty products in online settings. The study offers practical implications for marketers in designing effective brand communication strategies through social media and other digital platforms. Abstract

This research aims to qualitatively explore the dynamics of marital resilience from psychological and theological perspectives through an in-depth literature review, highlighting couple therapy as a conceptual lens to understand and strengthen the relationship between husband and wife. Through an in-depth literature review analyzed using thematic analysis, this study found that Islamic values such as patience (ṣabr), reliance on God (tawakkul), good communication, and collective responsibility significantly contribute to marital resilience. Couple therapy, especially the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) approaches integrated with Islamic principles, have been shown to be effective in increasing relationship resilience by strengthening emotional and spiritual bonds. These findings confirm that marital resilience does not only depend on individual and relational factors, but also on the integration of deep religious values. Therefore, Islamic-based couple therapy can be a contextual and relevant therapeutic solution.
