Abstract

This study examines the impact of intercultural communication by the Banua Niha Keriso Youth Commission (KNBK) on preserving the cultural values of the Nias tribe in Tangerang City. The research was conducted through a series of cultural activities, educational workshops, and dialogue sessions over six months, involving 150 participants from the Nias community. The findings reveal a significant positive influence of intercultural communication on the preservation of Nias cultural values, especially among the younger generation. The implications highlight the necessity of continuous cultural education and active community engagement to sustain cultural heritage in urban settings

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to analyze the influence of interpersonal communication on adaptation, to analyze the influence of interpersonal communication on employee performance. The research method used is descriptive quantitative. The population consists of active employees of PT Pertamina Lubricants (PTPL) Sales I Region SUMBAGUT, with a total sample of 50 respondents taken through total sampling at PTPL Sales Region I SUMBAGUT in 2024. Data analysis was performed using single tables, cross tables, t-test, and the Coefficient of Determination. The results showed Interpersonal Communication Strategies resulted in four strategies: 1). SO (Strength-Opportunity) Strategy by enhancing interactive communication between employees and supervisors to utilize supervisors who openly accept employee feedback, 2). ST (Strength-Threat) Strategy by developing interactive communication to overcome difficulties in discussing work issues with supervisors, 3). WO (Weakness-Opportunity) Strategy by improving communication among employees by leveraging supervisors who openly accept feedback, and 4). WT (Weakness-Threat) Strategy by developing two-way communication to overcome difficulties in speaking and obtaining support from supervisors.

Abstract

This study analyzes the communication process of Acehnese women in determining dowry amounts, the role of their families, and the communication strategies used. Theories applied include interpersonal, family, intercultural communication, and dowry. Using a qualitative method, 6 informants (3 married and 3 in serious relationships) from Pidie Regency were interviewed. The findings show that dowry decisions involve effective communication between women and their families, with parents playing a key role. Discussions within the woman's family are then conveyed to the man's family, leading to a final decision. The man’s qualities are prioritized over his ability to provide a high dowry. Data collection was carried out through interviews and. The communication strategv of Acehnese women and their families in determining the dowry involves discussions within the woman's family, which are then conveyed to the man's family, leading to a final decision regarding the dowry amount and whether to proceed with the marriage. The findings indicate that the criteria for the man are the main consideration in choosing a partner, rather than his ability to provide a high dowry that does not meet the criteria.
