Abstract

Coffee in Indonesia has an important role as a source of foreign exchange for the country because it has high economic value. One of the regions in Indonesia as a producer of robusta coffee is Cianjur district. Naringgul village is one part of the Cianjur district which produces coffee as a commodity. Geographically, the location of Naringgul Village is very suitable for the development of coffee plants. Many Naringgul people become coffee farmers as a livelihood without knowing the advantages of the content in the coffee they produce. The question in this study is what are the components of active chemical compounds contained in the coffee beans of Naringgul village as the mainstay of coffee production. The method used is a literature review journal by looking for several journals related to the research title. Search journals through google scholarships from national, international journals, textbooks and scientific articles. The analytical method to determine the components of the active chemical compounds in coffee beans is the UV-Vis spectrophotometry method. The results of the review obtained are the components of active chemical compounds in coffee beans in general are chlorogenic acid, aromatic compounds, pyrolles, mercaptans, phenols, Thiophenes, Furans, and Pyrazines. Based on the results of the analysis, it was found that the highest levels of chlorogenic acid were found in coffee beans that had gone through a certain roasting process.

Abstract

Clean water is defined as water used for daily needs that meets the quality standards set by regulations. To qualify as clean water, it must undergo physical and chemical testing, including metal content analysis. One such metal is manganese, which is regulated with a maximum allowable concentration of 100 µg/L due to its potential to cause chronic toxicity at high levels. This study aimed to determine the concentration of dissolved manganese in clean water samples using the Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry (ICP-MS) method at LPKL Perumda Tirtawening. Method verification was conducted to ensure the reliability and accuracy of the analysis. The results demonstrated excellent linearity (r ≥ 0.995), a detection limit below 100 µg/L, precision with %RSD < 0.5 CV Horwitz, and accuracy with a %recovery of 102.03%. These findings confirm that the ICP-MS method is valid and suitable for manganese testing in clean water at LPKL Perumda Tirtawening.

Abstract

This study determined fluoride levels in bottled drinking water and toothpaste using a fluoride ion-selective electrode (F-ISE) and verified the results using a colorimetric method based on alizarin complexone with UV–Vis spectrophotometry. F-ISE calibration with NaF standards (0.01–1.0 mg/L) in TISAB (1:1) showed excellent linearity (R² = 0.9996) and near-Nernstian response, with an average recovery of 88.2%. Most bottled water samples contained fluoride below the safety limit, except one brand (IND) with 2.289 mg/L, exceeding the WHO guideline (1.5 mg/L). Among toothpaste samples, one adult formulation (PEP) met BPOM standards, two children’s products (KOD and ENZ) were within safe ranges, while another adult product (CAL) exceeded the recommended fluoride level. Cross-validation on four representative samples showed good linearity for the colorimetric method (R² = 0.998) and inter-method deviations below 4%, indicating strong agreement between the two analytical approaches. The effect of Al³⁺ and Fe³⁺ interference on F-ISE measurements was also assessed. Without TISAB, fluoride readings decreased by 18–28% due to complex formation, whereas TISAB addition effectively minimized interference, leaving a residual bias of 1.7–4.4%.
