Abstract

Digital entrepreneurship has become a strategic force in transforming the tourism sector, particularly through the integration of digital platforms, data analytics, social media, artificial intelligence, mobile applications, and smart tourism ecosystems. This article aims to review the literature on digital entrepreneurship in tourism by focusing on three major dimensions: innovation, business model transformation, and destination competitiveness. Using a literature review approach, this article synthesizes previous studies on e-tourism, smart tourism, digital entrepreneurship, tourism innovation, platform-based business models, and destination management. The review indicates that digital entrepreneurship in tourism is not merely related to technology adoption, but also to entrepreneurial capability, opportunity recognition, digital value creation, ecosystem collaboration, and strategic managerial transformation. Digital technologies enable tourism entrepreneurs to redesign products, personalize tourist experiences, expand market access, improve operational efficiency, and strengthen destination branding. From a managerial perspective, the main challenge is not only how tourism firms adopt digital tools, but how managers transform organizational capabilities, business models, human resources, customer relationships, and inter-organizational networks. This article contributes by proposing an integrative managerial framework linking digital entrepreneurial orientation, innovation capability, business model transformation, and destination competitiveness. The article concludes that digital entrepreneurship should be positioned as a strategic capability for tourism firms and destinations, especially in facing dynamic competition, changing tourist behavior, and the demand for sustainable tourism development. Keywords: digital entrepreneurship, tourism, innovation, business model transformation, destination competitiveness, smart tourism, digital platform.

Abstract

This study examines the role of digital innovation in mediating the relationship between entrepreneurial management and micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) performance in an emerging economy context. Although entrepreneurial management has been widely recognized as a key driver of firm competitiveness, empirical evidence on how it translates into superior MSME performance remains inconsistent. Drawing on the Resource-Based View and Dynamic Capability Theory, this study proposes that digital innovation serves as a critical mechanism through which entrepreneurial management creates tangible business value. Using a quantitative explanatory approach, data were collected from 300 MSME owners and managers operating in the trade, service, and manufacturing sectors. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares–Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4. The results indicate that entrepreneurial management has a significant positive effect on MSME performance and digital innovation. Digital innovation also exerts a strong positive effect on MSME performance. Moreover, the mediation analysis reveals that digital innovation partially mediates the relationship between entrepreneurial management and MSME performance, indicating that entrepreneurial-oriented managerial practices enhance business performance primarily by stimulating digital product, process, and marketing innovations. These findings highlight the importance of integrating entrepreneurial management with digital innovation strategies to improve MSME competitiveness and sustainability. The study contributes to entrepreneurship and innovation literature by positioning entrepreneurial management as a dynamic capability and digital innovation as a key performance mechanism, while offering practical implications for MSME development and digital transformation policies in emerging economies.   Keywords: Entrepreneurial management; digital innovation; MSME performance; PLS-SEM; emerging economy; Indonesia.

Abstract

Indonesian consumers may be more familiar with specialty coffee. Similar to the marketing of coffee, the global tea industry also promotes specialty tea as a premium product. Specialty tea refers to tea produced through specific cultivation, harvesting, and processing methods to create distinctive characteristics. Currently, many people in the wider community do not consume herbal products due to limited awareness, particularly regarding their effectiveness, unreliable preparation methods, and the commonly perceived unpleasant aromas and flavors, such as blandness or sourness. In addition, preparation techniques and formulations are often considered less than ideal. This study aims to identify: (1) the implementation of product innovation at PT Sila Agri Inovasi; (2) the obstacles encountered in implementing product innovation at PT Sila Agri Inovasi; and (3) the strategies used to overcome these obstacles. The findings indicate that: (1) PT Sila Agri Inovasi has implemented product innovation by developing a product called Sila Tea. Sila Tea is a blend of pure tea, fruits, flowers, and spices that produces distinctive colors, flavors, and aromas. The addition of citrus fruit also gives the tea a naturally sweet taste; (2) the primary obstacle is the limited public knowledge of artisan tea in Indonesia. Indonesian consumers are generally more familiar with pure teas, such as green tea, black tea, and red tea. Consequently, many consumers remain unaware of the various health benefits offered by artisan tea; and (3) to overcome this obstacle, the company can educate the public about Indonesian tea products and emphasize that Indonesian tea has excellent quality, particularly when blended with fruits and spices. Sila Tea offers innovative products with potential health benefits. Although the combination of tea and spices may be unfamiliar to Indonesian consumers, Sila Tea incorporates citrus fruits and flowers to produce a lighter flavor and natural sweetness.   Keywords: innovation, tea, marketing, product.
