Abstract

Motivation to learn is very complicated to be examined because it involves various aspects, including the psychology of learners. However, efforts to improve the motivation of learners is not impossible for every teacher. As one of these efforts, the researcher undertook a comparative study by examining the achievement of bunpou understanding in the class that used the quiz tests and did not use the quiz test. After that, we compared with the average of semester final exam grade of the two classes. The quiz tests were formatively conducted after mid term exam until semester final exam. The result of a class that uses a quiz test has a higher average grade than a class that does not use. The mid term exam is difficult than final exam, it causes the average of the grade of student went down. However, the class that does not use the quiz test has drop two fold than the class that used the quiz test. It can be assumed that the quiz test is one of the media that has a role to increase the extrinsic motivation of the basic learner in understanding bunpou.Keywords: learning motivation, quiz tests, roles, bunpou

Abstract

This study backgrounded by the difficulties to cultivate Intercultural Communication Competence (ICC) in Japanese language learning in Indonesia.In learning Japanese as foreign language, knowing about latest condition and information about Japan is important. Therefore, nihonjijo(knowledge about Japan) course is taught as an essential course. However, with changing world and society, the inevitability of nihonjijouas Japanese cultural course has to be re-discussed. This study aims to find out how nihonjijoucourse can support the cultivation of the ICC, and how it can be reflected in nihonjijoucourse. Literature survey was used in this study. TheresultsshowedthatJapanese cultural knowledgeas material of nihonjijoucourse are ableto cultivate the ICC. However, the learning materials used innihonjijoutend to functioned as communication medium than as culture knowledge. Furthermore, Japanese learnersneed to think and analyse the cultural concept trough their perspective autonomously while teachers need to act as the facilitator who supports the cultural learning process. The teaching of nihonjijoualso need to be integrated with the other coursesto improve its’ effectivity.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kondisi pengajaran nihonjijou (budaya dan kemasyarakatan Jepang) saat ini sebagai upaya memaksimalkan peranannya dalam mendukung pembentukan kemampuan lintas budaya dengan bangsa Jepang. Penelitian dilakukan dengan menggunakan studi literatur untuk menganalisis materi pengajaran nihonjijou yang berlaku di Indonesia. Dari silabus penyelenggara program pendidikan bahasa Jepang dan sastra Jepang yang dijadikan sampel penelitian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa (1) materi nihonjijou lebih bersifat pengetahuan daripada materi yang berfungsi untuk mendukung pembentukan kemampuan komunikasi lintas budaya, (2) diperlukannya integrasi antara pengajaran nihonjijou dan pengajaran mata kuliah lain yang tidak lepas dari konteks budaya, (3) untuk memaksimalkan peranan nihonjijou dalam pengembangan budaya, materi pengajaran nihonjijou sebaiknya berupa materi yang mempunyai hubungan langsung dengan kemampuan adaptasi budaya dan (4) mahasiswa perlu didukung untuk dapat melakukan analisis kritis budaya sasaran melalui sudut pandangnya dan memperoleh budaya sasaran yang diperlukan secara mandiri.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menguraikan hasil analisis kesalahan mahasiswa tingkat tiga Universitas Komputer Indonesia tahun akademik 2016/2017 tentang penggunaan fukugou doushi ~tsuzuku dan ~tsuzukeru yang bermakna “terus”. Yang mana hal ini menjadi kesulitan tersendiri bagi pembelajar bahasa Jepang dalam memahami perbedaan mendasar tentang fukugou doushi ~tsuzuku dan ~tsuzukeru. Dengan jumlah responden sebanyak 20 mahasiswa. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada penggunaan fukugou doushi ~tsuzuku dan ~tsuzukeru. Fukugou doushi ~tsuzukeru yang terdiri dari 4 jenis pembentukan, yakni jizoku katei no dousa dekigoto, douji, shuuryou, dan kaishi no kyokumen. Kemudian hal yang juga dibahas dalam penelitian ini adalah jenis kesalahan dalam penggunaan fukugou doushi ~tsuzuku dan ~tsuzukeru, dan penyebab kesalahan penggunaan fukugou doushi tersebut dengan menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Jenis kesalahan yang dianalisis adalah kesalahan yang bersifat error dengan klasifikasi penyebab kesalahan, seperti over-generalization, ignorance of rule restrictions, incomplete application of rules, dan false concepts hypothesized.

Abstract

The level of knowledge and ability of teachers in delivering career guidance is very influential on the child's self-development process, especially in the aspects of career orientation and career attainment. In this regard, this study aims to identify the knowledge and ability of early childhood education teachers in delivering career guidance for preschoolers. By using a descriptive method, data were collected using observation techniques and a self-report questionnaire, from 12 early childhood teachers in Serang City, Banten, Indonesia. The results showed that the level of knowledge and ability of early childhood education teachers in delivering career guidance services may be described in five areas: (1) needs assessment: analyzing student needs for guidance and counseling services; (2) program development: preparing the guidance and counseling service programs; (3) selecting methods/techniques/strategies: creating the most prospective guidance and counseling methods/techniques/strategies and conducting step by step of guidance activities based on selected method; (4)  content development: designing guidance and counseling materials; and (5) accountability: evaluating the guidance and counseling service activities. Howeverm the adequate level of knowledge and ability at expert level was not found in any of these areas, adequate level of knowledge and ability at moderate level was found in areas (3) and (4), while inadequate level of knowledge and ability at novice level was in areas (1), (2), and (5). As a consequence, policy makers, school principals, early childhood educators, or children counselors should be more paying attention to these issues.
