Abstract

Japanese papaya leaves (Cnidoscolus aconitifolius) contain active compounds such as flavonoids, tannins, saponins, alkaloids and terpenoids which have the potential to have antibacterial activity. The aim of this research is to determine the antibacterial activity of Japanese papaya leaves against Staphylococcus aureus bacteria. Extraction of Japanese papaya leaves has been carried out using the maceration method and 96% ethanol solvent. The antibacterial activity test used the agar diffusion method using a cylindrical plate. Sterile distilled water was used as a negative control while as a positive control the antibiotic ciprofloxacin was used. The concentrations of Japanese papaya leaf ethanol extract used in testing were 10%, 20%, and 30%. The research results showed that Japanese papaya leaf ethanol extract with a concentration of 30% had the widest inhibition zone diameter, namely 17.296 mm. Meanwhile, at a concentration of 20%, the average inhibitory zone diameter was 15,222 mm, and at a concentration of 10%, the average inhibitory zone diameter was 13,018 mm. These three concentrations were included in the strong category based on Greenwood classification.

Abstract

Purslane rose-like flower variety (Portulaca grandiflora) is a popular decorative plant in society. Purslane utilization for health in Indonesia is still limited. Rose-like magenta flower variety purslane (P. grandiflora) is already known for its wound healing activity. This wound healing activity may occur from its secondary metabolites such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and terpenoids. Flavonoids extracted in a suitable solvent have the potency to increase the purslane wound healing activity. This research aimed to determine the magenta flower variety purslane herbs extract fraction potency in wound healing. This experimental research was conducted using wound-induced rabbits. The wounds were divided into negative and positive control groups, water, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane treatment groups. The wounds treated with aqua destilata re-epithelization was 12.33 ± 0.94 days, meanwhile, the wounds treated with betadine solution, water, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane fraction were 9.33 ± 0.47, 9.33 ± 0.47, 9.67 ± 0.47, dan 10.00 ± 0.00 days respectively. The water, ethyl acetate, and n-hexane fraction of magenta flower variety purslane herbs (P. grandiflora) have potency in wound healing. The water fraction showed the fastest re-epithelization pace compared to ethyl acetate and n-hexane fraction.   Keywords:          fraction, purslane, Portulaca grandiflora, magenta, wound healing   Abstrak Krokot varietas berbunga seperti mawar (Portulaca grandiflora) merupakan tanaman hias yang cukup populer di masyarakat. Di Indonesia pemanfaatan krokot untuk kesehatan masih sangat terbatas. Krokot mawar (P. grandiflora) varietas bunga magenta diketahui memiliki aktivitas penyembuhan luka. Aktivitas penyembuhan luka tersebut kemungkinan diperoleh karena kandungan metabolit sekunder seperti flavonoid, saponin, tanin, dan terpenoid. Flavonoid yang tertarik dalam pelarut yang sesuai tersebut berpotensi meningkatkan kemampuan krokot dalam menyembuhkan luka. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui potensi dari fraksi ekstrak herba krokot (P. grandiflora) varietas bunga magenta dalam menyembuhkan luka. Penelitian eksperimental ini dilakukan menggunakan kelinci yang diinduksi luka pada bagian punggung. Luka dibagi menjadi kelompok kontrol negatif dan positif serta kelompok perlakuan fraksi air, etil asetat, dan n-heksana. Kelompok luka yang diberi aqua destilata menunjukkan re-epitelisasi 12.33 ± 0.94 hari, sedangkan kelompok luka yang diberi betadine solution, fraksi air, etil asetat, dan n-heksana berturut-turut 9.33 ± 0.47, 9.33 ± 0.47, 9.67 ± 0.47, dan 10.00 ± 0.00 hari. Fraksi air, etil asetat, dan n-heksana herba krokot (P. grandiflora) memiliki potensi menyembuhkan luka dengan mempercepat laju re-epitelisasi. Fraksi air menunjukkan laju re-epitelisasi yang paling baik dibandingkan fraksi etil asetat dan n-heksana.   Kata Kunci:         fraksi, krokot, Portulaca grandiflora, magenta, penyembuhan luka

Abstract

Program pengabdian kepada masyarakat bekerjasama dengan PKK di lingkungan Kelurahan/Kecamatan Karangrejo Kabupaten Magetan, Jawa Timur. Melalui edukasi dan pelatihan pembuatan mayones sehat berbahan dasar susu dan Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) ini untuk pemenuhan nutrisi pada ibu, ibu hamil dan anak-anak sebagai upaya pencegahan stunting. Stunting merupakan bentuk kegagalan pertumbuhan, kurang gizi kronik yang berlangsung lama dan penyebab yang bersifat akut. Penurunan angka stunting merupakan salah satu indikator pencapaian Sutainable Development Goals (SDG’s) yang ke-2 yaitu menghilangkan kelaparan, mencapai ketahanan pangan dan gizi yang baik serta meningkatkan pertanian berkelanjutan. Kegiatan ini bertujuan meningkatkan pengetahuan terkait pencegahan stunting dengan pemenuhan nutrisi baik bagi ibu maupun anak-anak dalam mencegah kejadian stunting. Hasil pengabdian kepada masyarakat dalam mitra yang merupakan PKK di lingkungan Kelurahan/Kecamatan Karangrejo Kabupaten Magetan, Jawa Timur yang mengikuti edukasi serta pelatihan sebagian besar dapat membuat mayones sehat berdasarkan formula yang telah diberikan. Terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan mitra setelah mengikuti pelatihan sebesar 7,5 dari 76,25 menjadi 83,75.

Abstract

Indonesia is a tropical climate country that is rich in sunlight. Sunlight overexposure leads to skin damage such as sunburn, black spots, wrinkles, and aging skin which is caused by oxidative stress. Soursop is a fruit rich in flavonoids that has the antioxidant activity to prevent oxidative stress and is known for its sunscreen effect. This study was aimed to determine the sunscreen activity of soursop seed extract by Sun Protective Factor (SPF) parameter. Soursop extract divided to 0.15 and 0.25% concentration and the SPF value was measured quantitatively using Spectrophotometer UV-Vis. SPF measurement result showed that soursop seeds extract 0.15 and 0.25% concentration gives 4.35 and 7.38 respectively SPF value. Soursop seeds extract showed sunscreen activity with low protection category.

Abstract

Beluntas (Pluchea indica L.) contains of flavonoids, which are beneficial for treating acne. Previous research has been conducted on peel-off gel masks made from ethanol extract of beluntas leaves. The aim of this study is to determine the variation in carbopol concentrations in the formulation of gel masks containing beluntas leaf extract, as well as to evaluate their physical stability. This research using three formulations with different carbopol concentrations: Formula I with 1% carbopol, Formula II with 1.5% carbopol, and Formula III with 2% carbopol. The physical evaluation of the beluntas leaf extract gel mask preparations included organoleptic, homogeneity, viscosity, pH, spreadability, and adhesiveness testing. All formulations underwent a stability test known as the cycling test (cycles 1 to 6). The results of the stability tests showed that Formulas II and III met the requirements for physical quality, whereas Formula I did not meet the viscosity and spreadability value ranges. The gel mask with the best results was Formula II with 1.5% carbopol concentration. However, based on the cycling stability test, there was an increase in viscosity and adhesiveness. Based on the cycling test results for organoleptic properties, homogeneity, and spreadability, Formula II did not show significant changes.

Abstract

Desa Ngunut berada di wilayah Kecamatan Kawedanan, Kabupaten Magetan yang sebagian besar penduduknya menggantungkan hidup dari bercocok tanam. Dari segi ekonomi, sebanyak 27% warga Desa Ngunut, Kecamatan Kawedanan merupakan keluarga pra sejahtera, sehingga diperlukan upaya untuk dapat meningkatkan perekonomian keluarga di wilayah mitra melalui pemberdayaan potensi warga. Salah satu upaya peningkatan perekonomian melalui pemanfaatan tanaman sereh yang berpotensi dikembangkan untuk mengembangkan usaha perekonomian dari hulu ke hilir akan tetapi belum menjadi komoditas di wilayah Desa Ngunut. Hal ini dikarenakan warga belum memahami manfaat dan potensi ekonomi dari tanaman sereh. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini dilakukan melalui penyuluhan untuk memperkenalkan manfaat dan potensi ekonomi tanaman sereh (Cymbopogon nardus), serta pembuatan minyak esensial sereh menggunakan alat destilasi sederhana. Luaran yang dicapai adalah peningkatan pengetahuan dan pemahaman secara keseluruhan dari 68,67% menjadi 84,33% pada warga Desa Ngunut, Kecamatan Karangrejo, Kabupaten Magetan mengenai tanaman sereh (Cymbopogon nardus) yang dapat dimanfaatkan untuk meningkatkan perekonomian warga
