Abstract

Tabuik is a work of decorative art that is formed on an aesthetic concept and is the main object for the implementation of the Muharram celebration in Pariaman City. The activity is held once a year. This study aims to examine the Pariaman tabuik from the perspective of the sociology of art by using the theory of Vera L. Zolberg. This research uses qualitative research and is analysed descriptively. Data was obtained through observation, interviews, literature study, and documentation. The data were analyzed through three stages, namely identification, classification, and interpretation. The results show that tabuik is a cultural artefact whose existence is very important in the celebration of Muharram and is formed due to social processes. Initially, the tabuik celebration was carried out as a sacred ceremony and contained sacred values. Now the implementation of Tabuik is more directed to the value of entertainment or tourism. All of that, of course, cannot be separated from the role of government institutions, tabuik artists, and supporting communities as art constructions. So that tabuik can live and thrive in Pariaman City until now.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPerayan tabuik merupakan kegiatan untuk mengenangnya cucu Nabi Muhammad SAW yang di Pariaman pada tanggal 1 sampai 10 Muharam. Dalam acara tersebut terdapat fungsi (nilai) di antaranya fungsi sosial dan fungsi ekonomi, yang dapat memperkuat persatuan, serta kesejahteraan dalam masyarakat Pariaman. Hal logam tersebut menjadi ide penciptaan dalam karya relief. Metode yang dilakukan dimulai dari eksplorasi mencari referensi tulisan, dan data tentang tabuik. Perancangan karya sesuai konsep yang dijelaskan menjadi beberapa sketsa alternatif, sehingga diwujudkan menjadi karya teknik tatah pada media plat alumunium, dan tembaga dengan menggunakan teori ekspresi. Hasil karya rendah dengan judul-judul:Tabuik naiak pangkek, tabuik basandiang, maadu tabuik, mamanjek tabuik, tabuik tabuang, yang difungsikan sebagai hiasan dinding.  Kata kunci: Tabuik, ekspresi, dan relief logam

Abstract

Manumbuak padi is an activity of Minangkabau`s women in processing paddy into rice traditionally using traditional tools. the traditional tools is lasuang, pestle/antan and tampian. Nowadays, rice processing using lasuang is starting to be abandoned, because it has been replaced by more sophisticated technology. This is the interest and concept in creating embroidery works. The embroidery creation methods that we used are three-stage theory, the exploration stage, looking for ideas and reference sources. The design stage, namely expressing ideas in the form of a design, continued with the realization stage. The work is made using embroidery techniques using cotton linen and polycherry thread. The works in the form of wall decorations have a diameter of 80 cm, and each work has a storyline according to its title, namely Work 1 entitled manjamua padi (drying rice), work 2 manumbuak padi (pounding rice), work 3 basumarak (lively/excited), work 4 manampi (winnowing), work 5 manyumpik bareh (putting rice into a sack), and work 6 malapeh panek (unwinding or resting).

Abstract

Makan bajamba adalah budaya asli Minangkabau khususnya di nagari Koto Baru Salo, kabupaten Agam yang sangat patut untuk dilestarikan keberadaannya. Dalam Konsep perwujudan karya bersumber dari budaya makan bajamba menghadirkan visualisasi dari prosesi makan bajamba yang diwujudkan dalam bentuk relief dengan tiga nilai utama yang terkandung di dalam makan bajamba yaitu nilai kebersamaan, nilai etika dan nilai silaturahmi. Proses perancangan, perwujudan serta penerapan karya menggunakan teori bentuk, estetika, dan fungsi. Teknik yang digunakan pada pembuatan karya ini adalah teknik ukir tinggi, dengan menggunakan bahan utama kayu surian. Hasil akhir dari karya ukir kayu berbentuk relief ini bejumlah tujuh karya yang berjudul yaitu Karya I Mahidang, Karya II Pasambahan, Karya III Jamba, Karya IV Adab Makan Bajamba, Karya V Menikmati Jamba, Karya VI Parabuang, Karya VII Makan Parabuang. Dalam setiap karya mengandung nilai dan ilmu pengetahuan tentang kegiatan makan bajamba .
