Abstract

The propose of research is to find the capability of the SBEG-g-PMMA to adsorb Cd(II) ion. This research used batch method with various of pH, contact time, and initial concentration of solution. Characterization was conducted by FTIR and AAS. The IR spectrum of the SBEG-g-PMMA showed the presence of carbonil group (C=O) at 1735.4 cm-1 and C-O ester at 1244.14 cm-1. While the optimum adsorption capasity of the SBEG-g-PMMA to Cd(II) ion was obtained at pH of 6, contact time of 10 minutes, and initial concentration of 300 ppm. Adsorption of Cd(II) ion using the SBEG-g-PMMA followed the Langmuir isotherm with maximum adsorption capasity of 47.60 mg/g adsorbent.-1 and C-O ester at 1244.14 cm-1. While the optimum adsorption capasity of the SBEG-g-PMMA to Cd(II) ion was obtained at pH of 6, contact time of 10 minutes, and initial concentration of 300 ppm. Abstract

This research was conducted to develop a green synthesis method for zero valent iron (ZVI) preparation. The ZVI was synthesized by reacting FeCl2 with polyphenols extracted from kepok banana peels. This polyphenol extraction process was carried out using three different solvents, namely: water, chloroform, and ethyl acetate. Gas chromatography mass spectroscopy test showed three main phenolic compounds contained in the banana peel extract, namely: 2-methoxy-4-vinylphenol, 4-methoxy-2-vinylphenol, and 2-methoxy-5-vinylphenol. The optimum composition of FeCl2 and polyphenol was 3:2. Fourier transform infra red spectroscopy data confirmed that the synthesized ZVI contains organic compounds having –OH and C=O groups which are assumed to be capping agents that can maintain stability. This has also been supported by the results of the energy dispersive X-ray analysis where there are carbon atoms (C) and oxygen atoms (O) in ZVI. The ZVI particle size was uneven and form a compact solid. The largest particle size distribution of ZVI is in the range of 234.49 nm - 407.49 nm with the average size of ZVI beings 616.26 nm. The results of the XRD analysis have also confirmed the formation of a simple cubic ZVI with fine crystallite size of ca 26.64 nm.

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat (P2M) ini telah dilaksanakan untuk guru-guru SMA yang tergabung dalam MGMP Kimia Jakarta Timur 1, DKI Jakarta pada tanggal 1 september 2022 di SMAN 61 Jakarta. Program pelatihan dilakukan melalui tiga tahapan, yaitu pendahuluan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi kegiatan. Pada tahap pendahuluan, dilakukan analisis kebutuhan berupa pengumpulan data mengenai perlunya mengembangkan bahan ajar kinetika kimia dan termokimia selama pandemi COVD-19 bagi guru-guru SMA di Wilayah Jakarta Timur DKI Jakarta. Tahap kedua, tahap Pelaksanaan, dimana program pelatihan dilaksanakan secara hybrid yaitu berupa online dan offline training menggunakan metode ceramah, tanya jawab, simulasi, penugasan, dan pengamatan terhadap keterampilan peserta pelatihan. Pada tahap ketiga atau disebut tahap evaluasi. Evaluasi program pelatihan dilakukan secara menyeluruh terhadap unsur materi, pelatih, dan peserta pelatihan. Luaran kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya kualitas pembelajaran guru-guru SMA dalam menyampaikan materi bahan ajr kinetika kimia dan termokimia kepada peserta didik. Selain itu juga terlihat ada beberapa guru yang secara inovatif memanfaatkan teknologi sebagai bahan pembelajaran di sekolah untuk peserta didik.

Abstract

Chlorine is a chemical element that is widely used in daily life that require for dechlorination process to prevent the environment. One method that can be used to treat chlorine waste is through dechlorination. During the dechlorination process, electrodes that chemically stable properties are used. This study aims to test the dechlorination of polyaniline (PANI), polypyrrole (PPy), and various compositions of PANI/PPy composite. FTIR shows related functional groups found in PANI, PPy, and PANI/PPy. XRD shows that the PANI formed was in the semicrystalline phase, while PPy was in the amorphous phase. The conductivity test shows that the PANI sample has the highest conductancy value compared to the PPy or PANI/PPy samples. PANI/PPy with composition ratio of 75/25 had the highest difference in conductance values compared to other composites. The highest dechlorination efficiency value occurred in PANI at a voltage of 1.8 V, which was 1.9%. Meanwhile, in PANI/PPy composite, the highest dechlorination efficiency value came from PANI/PPy 75/25, which was 0.97%.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the characteristics and performance of silver nanoparticles (AgNP) synthesized using soursop leaf extract bioreductor modified with the addition of polyvinyl pyrrolidone (PVP) stabilizer as a colorimetric sensor for heavy metal ions. The synthesis of silver nanoparticles was carried out by reducing AgNO3 using soursop leaf extract (Annona muricata Linn) bioreductor modified with the addition of PVP as stabilizer. The results showed that the optimum synthesis volume ratio of AgNP synthesis was 0.7 mL of soursop leaf extract: 10 mL AgNO3 with the addition of 3% PVP stabilizer. The formation of AgNP was characterized by a change in the color of the solution from yellow to brownish with a surface plasmon resonance peak at a maximum wavelength of 438 nm. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy studies showed hydroxyl groups (-OH) and carbonyl groups (C=O) play a role in the reduction process of silver ions. Particle size analysis results demonstrated an average particle size of 71.5 nm with a polydispersity index value of 0.364. The results of the colorimetric analysis showed that the synthesized AgNPs proved to be highly selective towards Cu metal ions.

Abstract

This study aims to understand: (1) Description of the Application of the Problem Based Learning Model to Improve Critical Thinking Skills of Grade IV Students at SDN 160 Inpres Lemo-lemo Kab. Maros. (2) Problem Based Learning Model to Improve Critical Thinking Skills of Grade IV Students at SDN 160 Inpres Lemo-lemo Kab. Maros. The type of research used is classroom action research (PTK). The population and research sample were 23 students in grade IV at SDN 160 Inpres Lemo-lemo, Maros Regency. The research instruments were teacher and student observation sheets, multiple choice tests and essays and documentation. The data analysis used is qualitative data. The research results obtained are: (1) Application of the Problem Based Learning Model to Improve Critical Thinking Skills of Grade IV Students at SDN 160 Inpres Lemo-lemo Kab. Maros through cycle I and cycle II. (2) There is an increase in students' critical thinking skills through the application of the Problem Based Learning model with an average score of 56.3 at a percentage value of 17.3% referred to in the quite critical category in cycle I and an average score of 88.6 at a percentage value of 82.6% referred to in the critical category in cycle II. Based on the research, the Application of the Problem Based Learning Model to Improve the Critical Thinking Ability of Grade IV Students at SDN 160 Inpres Lemo-lemo Maros Regency has increased.

Abstract

Chemistry is the science that studies matter, its properties, structure, changes or reactions, and the energy accompanying those changes. Aiming to enhance scientific abilities and critical and creative thinking, it is important to be studied in high school. Environmental issues often arise when concepts are applied in practice. Therefore, the community service program activities in MGMP South Jakarta 2 are here to assist chemistry teachers in applying the principles of green chemistry in chemistry practicals. The implementation method for this electrochemistry practical development program is carried out through training through material presentation, demonstrations, and practice. The questionnaire filled out by the chemistry teachers is used to collect data and as material for evaluating activities. This activity is expected to assist chemistry teachers in the MGMP Jakarta Selatan 2 in applying the principles of green chemistry and to raise public awareness about the importance of reducing hazardous waste that impacts both humans and the environment.    Abstrak Kimia merupakan ilmu yang mempelajari mengenai materi, sifat, struktur, perubahan atau reaksinya serta energi yang menyertai perubahan tersebut. Bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan ilmiah serta pola pikir kritis dan kreatif, penting untuk dipelajari di sekolah menengah atas. Masalah lingkungan seringkali muncul saat konsep diterapkan dalam praktikum. Oleh karena itu, kegiatan program pengabdian masyarakat di MGMP Jakarta Selatan 2 ini hadir untuk membantu guru bidang kimia menerapkan prinsip green chemistry dalam praktikum kimia. Metode pelaksanaan program pengembangan praktikum elektrokimia ini dilakukan dalam bentuk pelatihan melalui pemaparan materi, demonstrasi, dan praktik. Kuesioner yang diisi oleh guru kimia digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data dan sebagai bahan evaluasi kegiatan. Kegiatan ini diharapkan mampu membantu guru  bidang  kimia  di  MGMP  Jakarta  Selatan  2  menerapkan  prinsip  green  chemistry  dan meningkatkan  kesadaran  masyarakat   akan  pentingnya  mengurangi  limbah  berbahaya  yang berdampak pada manusia dan lingkungan.

Abstract

Abstrak Perkembangan era digital telah menjadikan pemasaran online sebagai strategi utama dalam mendukung keberlanjutan usaha, termasuk bagi Usaha Mikro, Kecil, dan Menengah (UMKM) berbasis pangan olahan. Namun, masyarakat di wilayah pedesaan masih menghadapi keterbatasan dalam akses informasi dan penguasaan teknologi digital. Tujuan Program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) terintegrasi Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) di Perumahan Griya Sahla, Desa Pasirnanjung, Sumedang dilaksanakan untuk menjawab tantangan tersebut. Kegiatan dilaksanakan meliputi pelatihan peningkatan mutu produk pangan olahan dan strategi pemasaran digital berbasis marketplace. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan adanya peningkatan keterampilan masyarakat dalam mengolah produk pangan yang berkualitas serta kemampuan memanfaatkan platform digital untuk memperluas pasar. Dampaknya produk lokal menjadi lebih dikenal, meningkatkan daya saing, serta berkontribusi pada peningkatan pendapatan dan perekonomian masyarakat setempat. Program ini sekaligus menunjukan peran strategis perguruan tinggi dalam mendukung pemberdayaan masyarakat berbasis potensi lokal dan transformasi digital. Abstract The development of the digital era has made online marketing a key strategy in supporting business sustainability, including for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) engaged in the processed food industry. However, communities in rural areas still face limitations in accessing information and mastering digital technologies. The Community Service Program (PKM), integrated with the Student Community Service (KKN) in Griya Sahla Housing, Pasirnanjung Village, Sumedang, was carried out to address these challenges. The activities included training on improving the quality of processed food products and implementing digital marketing strategies through online marketplaces. The results showed an increase in community skills, including the ability to produce higher-quality food products, as well as the capacity to utilize digital platforms to expand market reach. As a result, local products have become more recognized, competitiveness has improved, and contributions to household income and the local economy have increased. This program also highlights the strategic role of universities in supporting community empowerment, leveraging local potential, and digital transformation.

Abstract

Pasirnanjung Village in Sumedang, currently being developed as a Tourism Village, has significant potential in the agricultural sector, with the majority of its population working as farmers and farm laborers. However, the potential of herbal plants as processed high-value economic products has not been optimally utilized by the local FORBIS MSMEs. To address this, community service program was conducted in the form of training on producing hygienic, market-friendly herbal tea bags. The implementation methods included socialization, packaging technology training, label design workshops, and ongoing mentoring involving KKN students. This program aimed to empower the community with integrated entrepreneurial skills, from upstream to downstream, to create home industries that support the village's economy and align with tourism destination development. Results of the evaluation questionnaire showed an 83.33% increase in participants' understanding, and 88.89% expressed interest in producing and promoting herbal medicine through online media. Furthermore, participants successfully applied advanced production technology by utilizing vacuum packaging, date stamping systems, and appropriate labeling during the training. Overall, this activity successfully served as a catalyst in creating sustainable new economic opportunities and enhancing the value-added of local agricultural products.Abstrak Desa Pasirnanjung, Sumedang, yang sedang dikembangkan sebagai Desa Wisata, memiliki potensi besar dalam sektor pertanian, dimana sebagian besar penduduknya berprofesi sebagai petani. Namun, potensi tanaman herbal sebagai produk olahan bernilai ekonomi tinggi belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal oleh kelompok usaha FORBIS UMKM setempat. Untuk mengatasi hal ini, dilakukan program pengabdian masyarakat berupa pelatihan pembuatan jamu celup, higienis, dan mudah dipasarkan. Metode pelaksanaan meliputi sosialisasi, pelatihan teknologi pengemasan, workshop desain label, serta pendampingan berkelanjutan yang melibatkan mahasiswa KKN. Program ini bertujuan untuk memberdayakan masyarakat dengan keterampilan kewirausahaan yang terpadu, dari hulu ke hilir, guna menciptakan industri rumahan yang mendukung perekonomian desa dan sejalan dengan pengembangan destinasi wisata. Hasil angket evaluasi menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman peserta sebesar 83,33%, dan sebanyak 88,89% tertarik untuk memproduksi dan mempromosikan jamu melalui media online. Selain itu, peserta berhasil mempraktekan teknologi produksi mutakhir dengan memanfaatkan teknologi vakum, sistem penanggalan dan label kemasan yang baik selama pelatihan. Selain itu, Secara keseluruhan, kegiatan ini berhasil menjadi katalisator dalam menciptakan peluang ekonomi baru yang berkelanjutan dan meningkatkan nilai tambah hasil pertanian lokal.

Abstract

Indonesia is the world’s largest producer of palm oil, a strategic commodity that significantly underpins the national economy and serves as the main source of income for millions of smallholder farmers. While oil palm cultivation is often associated with high and relatively stable financial returns, providing a vital pathway out of poverty, the actual financial dependence of farming households on this single source of income remains a critical subject of inquiry. This study aims to analyze the, contribution of oil palm farming to fulfilling household needs of farmers in Pante Ceureumen Sub-district, West Aceh Regency. The research employed a purposive sampling method with 100 oil palm farmer respondents. Data were analyzed by calculating the ratio between farming income and total household expenditures. The results indicated that the average income from oil palm farming was IDR 74.003.15 per year, while the average household expenditure was IDR 52.269.00 per year. The contribution of oil palm farming to farmers' household expenditures reached 142 %, signifying that the income derived from oil palms not only covered all household necessities but also yielded a surplus of 42%. This finding demonstrates that oil palm farming plays a vital role in enhancing the welfare of farmer households in the study area.
