Abstract

The decrease in the area of agricultural land has an impact on the availability of forage products that have been used by the community as animal feed. The lack of forage products encourages people to use agricultural waste as animal feed. Agricultural waste has lower quality compared to conventional feed. In an effort to improve and provide for the nutrients that are lacking in feed, it is necessary to provide additional supplements so that livestock nutrition can be fulfilled. One technology that can be used is the Batang Pisang silage dryer. Is a substitute feed for ruminants to increase the digestibility of low-quality feed, overcome nutritional deficiencies and increase livestock appetite. Thus avoidance of feeding can increase livestock productivity. Fast food feed training has been carried out for cattle breeders who are domiciled in the Mekar Jaya Farmer Group in Kampung Pinang, Sebatang Timur, Siak District, Riau Province. Cattle farms that are participating in the activity respond well to the implementation of this feed cultivation. Through this training, it is hoped that the feed community will be able to cut banana stems on their own to develop a cattle farming business.

Abstract

Riau Province in each year the area of oil palm plantations is expanding, making Riau Province a mainstay center for oil palm plantations in Indonesia. With the increase in oil palm plantations, there will also be an increase in the need for fertilizer to meet the nutrients from the oil palm. Artificial fertilizers (inorganic) are currently very rare and difficult to find and the price is quite expensive. For this reason, another alternative to the problem of scarcity of fertilizers, farmers can use organic fertilizers instead. Materials such as leaf compost, forage compost and animal manure can be used as organic fertilizer. Chicken manure is one of the animal wastes that has the potential to be used as organic fertilizer because it contains high levels of nutrients. For a livestock population of 10,000 chickens, chicken manure will produce up to ± 800 kg per week. The problem is that this chicken manure has not been managed properly, due to the absence of science and technology to process the chicken manure into quality organic fertilizer, so that it becomes one of the business opportunities to increase income in the community. To encourage this, an effort is made through counseling for SMK N 01 Kuok students, so that they can increase the knowledge they can apply later, so that they can also increase the economy and income or even if there are students who want to start entrepreneurship from an early age. By conducting this counseling, the resource person hopes that farmers will no longer experience difficulties in obtaining quality organic fertilizer at affordable prices.
