Abstract

Community Service Activities were carried out online with the theme "Creating Cool Learning Videos to Improve Students' Understanding during the Covid-19 Pandemic". This Community Service partnered with teachers and lecturers in the city of Padang. The purpose of carrying out community service activities is to increase teacher knowledge about teaching video maker applications and teachers are able to make interesting teaching videos so that students are motivated to learn and quickly understand the material being taught. The method used is descriptive qualitative. The data used are primary data from webinar participants. From the results of the implementation of community service activities, it can be concluded that this webinar can increase the knowledge of teachers in the city of Padang in presenting teaching materials. And also improve the ability of teachers in making interesting teaching videos using Kinemaster, this is indicated by a graph of the survey evaluation results of 100%.

Abstract

The research is aimed to analyze students’ difficulties in studying calculus on inequality and limitfunction in Calculus subject. The research is qualitatively analyzed using descriptive data taken inacademic year of 2018/2019 at the University of Putra Indonesia YPTK, Padang. The subject of the research is53 students majoring in Computer System. The samples are 6 students grouped into 2 high-grade students, 2middle-grade students and 2 low-grade students. Each class taken has already represented the average scores.The research is done in February until April 2019. The data are collected through documentation and interview.The result of the research shows some factors which cause mistakes the students did in Calculus subject,namely 1) student’s inability to perform mixed fraction, 2) student’s inability to use theorems in case ofinequality in absolute values. 3) student’s inability to seek factorization in many rates and 4) student’sinability to do limit function operation in polynomial fraction.

Abstract

English. The Covid-19 pandemic that has hit the world since the end of 2019 has changed the world into a new normal era. All aspects of life are undergoing changes. Learning, which was originally face-to-face in the classroom to meet teachers and friends, has now turned online. This does not only apply to students in school but also to students in university, including all students of Putra Indonesia University YPTK Padang. The online learning is inseparable from several difficulties. Therefore, the author took the initiative to conduct an online analysis of the difficulty of learning calculus 1 on students of the engineering faculty. This study aims to describe the problems faced by the faculty of engineering students of Putra Indonesia University YPTK Padang who learn calculus 1 online. This research uses qualitative descriptive method. The data collection technique used is a questionnaire, which is created using a google form and distributed through the class whatsapp group. Based on the questionnaire distributed to students and after the recapitulation was carried out, it can be concluded that less than 50% of students find it difficult to learn calculus online Bahasa. Pandemi Covid-19 yang melanda dunia sejak akhir tahun 2019 telah merubah dunia ke dalam era new normal. Semua aspek kehidupan mengalami perubahan. Belajar yang semula tatap muka di dalam kelas bertemu guru dan teman-teman, sekarang beralih menjadi daring (dalam jaringan). Hal ini tidak hanya berlaku bagi siswa sekolah, namun juga berlaku kepada kalangan mahasiswa, tidak terkecuali bagi seluruh mahasiswa Universitas Putra Indonesia YPTK Padang. Pembelajaran secara daring ini tidak terlepas dari beberapa kesulitan. Maka dari itu, penulis berinisiatif melakukan penelitian analisis kesulitan belajar kalkulus 1 secara daring pada mahasiswa fakultas teknik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguraikan permasalahan yang dihadapi mahasiswa fakultas teknik Universitas Putra Indonesia YPTK Padang yang belajar kalkulus 1 secara daring. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah angket, yang dibuat menggunakan google form dan disebarkan melalui grup whatsapp kelas. Berdasarkan angket yang disebar dan setelah dilakukan rekapitulasinya, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa kurang dari 50% mahasiswa merasa kesulitan belajar kalkulus secara daring.

Abstract

Learning, which has been carried out online for the past 2 years due to Covid-19, has made the learning outcomes of calculus 1 students of the industrial engineering study program at Putra Indonesia University YPTK Padang not good. Currently, the Covid-19 chart is sloping. Learning on campus is back to face-to-face and blended learning. For this reason, researchers conducted research on the development of calculus 1 textbooks to increase understanding of the concept of calculus 1 for students of the industrial engineering study program at Putra Indonesia University YPTK Padang. The purpose of this research is for students to learn optimally so they can improve their understanding of calculus 1 concepts. This type of research is Research and development research in accordance with the development procedure proposed by Plomp, namely Preliminary research, Prototyping stage and Assessment phase. This study describes the Preliminary research stage, which is the initial stage of research on developing a calculus 1 textbook. The calculus 1 textbook developed in this study is expected to be a source of reference for the main study of calculus 1 courses by students of the industrial engineering study program at Putra Indonesia University YPTK Padang.

Abstract

The low ability to understand mathematical concepts affects the learning outcomes of information systems study program students in basic mathematics courses. This is because basic mathematics courses tend to be disliked by the YPTK information systems study program students at Putra Indonesia University in Padang. After all, they consider basic mathematics courses do not significantly contribute to their field of expertise. Students prefer courses that suit their area of ​​expertise. Basic mathematics is an abstract subject and is a difficult subject. Students have difficulty applying mathematical concepts to solve problems. The learning module is a basic mathematics module based on professional competence. This basic mathematics module connects basic mathematics subject matter with subject matter in the field of expertise, namely information systems. This research aims to produce a basic mathematics module based on professional competence in the information systems study program at Putra Indonesia University YPTK Padang. This type of research is development research(R&D). The stages in developing this basic mathematics module are the development stages proposed by Plomp. This research carried out a preliminary research stage. Experts carry out product validation. Our instrument is a validation sheet with a Likert scale. The results of the expert validation analysis from aspects of presentation/dictates, suitability of content, language, and graphics obtained an average of 3.39 with a very valid category, which means that the basic mathematics module based on professional competence is suitable for use in basic subjects. Abstract

Seperti yang kita lihat dan rasakan sekarang, lahan untuk bercocok tanam semakin berkurang karena sudah banyak yang berubah menjadi perumahan atau diganti dengan pembangunan gedung lainnya. Maka dari itu saat ini masyarakat sudah mengenal sistem menanam dengan air tanpa perlu adanya lahan yang luas, yang dikenal dengan hidroponik. Tujuan dari pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan edukasi kepada siswa di SMPN 32 Padang mengenai hidroponik. Langkah-langkah yang diambil meliputi edukasi tentang cara-cara menanam hidroponik dan cara-cara merawat tanaman yang dikembangkan dengan sistem hidroponik ini. Selain itu, kegiatan ini juga mencakup evaluasi untuk mengukur pemahaman dan keterampilan peserta setelah pelatihan. Temuan utama dari pengabdian ini menunjukkan peningkatan pemahaman siswa mengenai hidroponik. Kesimpulannya, pengabdian ini berhasil mencapai tujuannya dalam meningkatkan pemahaman siswa SMPN 32 Padang.
