Abstract

Corn silk (Stigma maydis) contains compounds that play a role in wound healing, such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins. This study aims to formulate a gel from corn hair extract and see its activity in healing burns. The test group was divided into four groups: group I (hot metal induction), group II (without extract ), group III (corn hair extract concentration 5%), and group IV (comparison B®), which metal induction. The parameters observed were % wound healing, epithelialization time, and histopathology. The results of the study on the average% of burns healing rate 7, 14 and 21 days, namely group I (27,92%; 62,42%; 100%), group II (35,39%; 60,16%; 100%), group III (44,05%; 63,69%; 100%) and group IV (32,81%; 66,48%; 100%). The mean time of tissue peeling epithelialization groups I, II, and III was on day 16, and group IV was on day 17. For the histopathological results, the mean score of collagen fibers, fibroblast cells, and epithelialization was respectively group I (2,2; 2,7; 2), group II (2,8; 2,9; 2), group III (3,3; 2,9; 2,7), and Group IV (3,9; 3; 3). The results of the two-way ANOVA statistical test on % burn healing (p> 0.05) and one-way ANOVA at the time of epithelialization (p> 0.05) and the histopathological score (p <0.05) showed that group III (the corn hair extract 5 %) could influence the process of healing burns. Abstract

Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang formulasi obat kumur ekstrak etanol bawang dayak dan uji aktivitas antijamur terhadap jamur Candida albicans. Ekstrak etanol bawang dayak mengandung beberapa senyawa metabolit sekunder, dimana yang berperan sebagai antijamur adalah alkaloid, flavonoid dan fenolik. Obat kumur ekstrak etanol bawang dayak dibuat menjadi empat formula yaitu F0 (basis), F1 (ekstrak etanol bawang dayak 2,5% ), F2 (ekstrak etanol bawang dayak 5% ) dan F3 (ekstrak etanol bawang dayak 10% ). Evaluasi obat kumur meliputi pemeriksaan organoleptis, pH, stabilitas dan viskositas. Uji aktivitas antijamur sediaan obat kumur dilakukan dengan metode difusi agar dan dianalisis menggunakan ANOVA satu arah. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa sifat fisik sediaan obat kumur memberikan hasil yang baik dan memenuhi syarat sediaan obat kumur. Hasil uji aktivitas antijamur sediaan obat kumur memberikan diameter rata – rata daya hambat sebesar F0 (11,75 mm), F1 (17,62 mm), F2 (21,8 3 mm ) dan F3 (22,33 mm).

Abstract

ABSTRAK Ubi jalar ungu (Ipomoea batatas L.) merupakan salah satu jenis ubi jalar yang mengandung antosianin yang tinggi sehingga sangat baik digunakan sebagai pewarna pada sediaan kosmetika. Tujuan penelitian ini memformulasi sediaan eyeshadow cream dengan menggunakan ekstrak etanol ubi jalar ungu sebagai pewarna dan mengetahui formula eyeshadow cream yang paling disukai. Konsentrasi ubi jalar ungu yang digunakan adalah F0: 0%, F1: 8%, F2: 12% dan F3: 16%. Metode ekstraksi yang digunakan yaitu metode maserasi. Evaluasi sediaan yang dilakukan yaitu pemeriksaan organoleptis, homogenitas, uji oles, uji stabilitas, pH, tipe krim, iritasi kulit, uji kesukaan dengan metode Kruskall- Wallis. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa tipe krim air dalam minyak (a/m), uji oles baik, stabil, sifat fisik semua formula eyeshadow cream berbentuk setengah padat, warna merah muda, bau minyak mawar, homogen, pH rata-rata dari 4,94 sampai 6,07 ,tidak menyebabkan iritasi. Hasil uji kesukaan menunjukkan bahwa sediaan eyeshadow cream yang paling disukai adalah F3. Ekstrak etanol ubi jalar ungu ( Ipomoea batatas L.) dapat digunakan sebagai pewarna dalam sediaan eyeshadow cream dan formula yang paling disukai oleh panelis yaitu F3.

Abstract

Film soap is soap in the form of a thin layer having a thickness of 100 - 500 µm made of foaming film and plasticizer. The advantages of paper soap preparations are convenient in use, hygienic, practical, and easy to carry anywhere. Mesocarp red watermelon is a part of watermelon that contains flavonoid compounds that have antioxidant activity. The purpose of this study was to formulate the film soap of red watermelon mesocarp extract and to determine its antioxidant activity. In this study, the formulation was carried out by making four formulas with varying concentrations of ethanol extract mesocarp of red watermelon F0 = 0%; F1 = 1.5%; F2 = 2% and F3 = 3%. The evaluation was carried out in the form of organoleptic examination, pH, foam power, weight uniformity, moisture content, thickness, irritation test, stability and antioxidant activity tests. The evaluation results of the film soap from the four formulas were pH 9.29 - 9.12; weight uniformity 0.125 - 0.134 grams, water content 16.80 - 16.30%; thickness 0.14 - 0.15 mm and physically stable. The antioxidant activity of each formula was seen from the value, namely  IC50F0 = 76.42µg / mL; F1 = 70.36 µg / mL; F2 = 65.14µg / mL; F3 = 62.14 µg / mL. From the research results, it can be concluded that the ethanol extract of red watermelon mesocarp can be formulated into film soap and has antioxidant activity which is included in the strong group.

Abstract

Kaffir lime leaf (Citrus hystrix) is a plant that contains aromatic oil. The aroma is not liked by insects, so it can be used as a repellent. Kaffir lime leaf essential oil contains linalool, citronella, and beta-citronellol compounds which have biolarvicidal effects on mosquitoes. This study aims to formulate the essential oil of kaffir lime leaves in the form of a spray repellent against Culex Sp. In this study, the kaffir lime leaf essential oil formula was made with variations in concentration, namely formula 1 (10%), formula 2 (15%), and formula 3 (20%). The test parameters include organoleptic examination, pH test, stability test, viscosity test, skin irritation test and repellent activity test against Culex Sp. The spray formula with concentrations of 10%, 15% and 20% had protection against mosquitoes during 3 hours. Spray repellent formula with a concentration of 10% has a protection power of 50%, a concentration of 15% has a protection power of 75%, and a concentration of 20% has a protective power of 93.30%.The kaffir lime leaf essential oil (Citrus hystrix) can be formulated as an aromatherapy wax and the repellent activity of the kaffir lime leaf essential oil (Citrus hystrix) aromatherapy candle shows that the repellent activity increases along with the increase in the concentration of kaffir lime leaf essential oil.

Abstract

Research has been carried out on the determination of antioxidant activity in vitro on rambutan bark with experimental methods. The ethyl acetate fraction was obtained from the ethanol extraction of the rambutan bark from maceration. The formula was made by varying the concentration of 3 fractions, namely F0 without fraction, F1 (1%), F2 (1.5%), and F3 (2%) with organoleptic test parameters, each formula was in the form of a semi-solid, distinctive odor and different color. -different in white F0, orange F1, light brown F2 and brown F3. Homogeneity test on each homogeneous formula, viscosity test results obtained 2840cP, 2825cP, 2815cP, 2810cP for F0, F1, F2 and F3 respectively. The washing power test was found to be 32mL; 32.1mL; 30.5mL; 27.1mL for F0, F1, F2 and F3 respectively. The cream type test on each formula showed the W/A type. pH test results obtained 7,10; 7.14; 7.06; 6.97 for F0, F1, F2 and F3 respectively. Stability test on each formula showed stable results, irritation test on each formula showed that no irritation occurred. Determination of antioxidant activity using the DPPH method by looking at the IC50 value and determining the SPF value. The results of the antioxidant activity test obtained IC50 values ​​at F0 of 108.497 ppm in the medium category, F1 at 69.23 ppm in the strong category, F2 at 61.92 in the strong category, and F3 at 61.39 in the strong category. The best formula was formula 3 with antioxidant activity of 61.39 ppm in the strong category.
