Abstract

Buton Regency is in Southeast Sulawesi, with a society that is thick with culture and traditions that have been passed down from generation to generation. However, along with technological developments, it has affected the interest of the Buton people in preserving local culture, especially in the younger generation who are starting to not care about local cultural values. The problem is, currently there is no place for the community of cultural activities and the place for the development of Butonese culture. One of the efforts to maintain local cultural values is the need for a forum for cultural actors and the development of local culture, in the form of a cultural center building, which can also be used as a tourism support facility in Buton district. The purpose of this study is to develop a cultural center building design concept in Buton district with a traditional architectural transformation approach. This approach is intended so that the traditional values of Butonese are realized in the architecture of the cultural center building, which can be a historical moment of traditional Buton architecture. The research method uses descriptive analytical methods, by uncovering existing data and analyzing it with the traditional Buton architectural transformation concept. The resulting design concept is a transformation of traditional architecture which is applied to: the mass layout; spatial patterns of Malige traditional houses; philosophy of mass forms; ornaments; and structures in the Malige Buton traditional house buildings.

Abstract

West Manggarai Regency of East Nusa Tenggara province became one of the backbones of the national tourism sector when its capital city, Labuan Bajo, was selected as one of the ten priority tourism destinations in 2016. Tourism development is improved as a sector that promises to bring in large revenues for the country, especially in areas with abundant natural and cultural resources. On the other hand, the regent of West Manggarai continues to race in order not to waste the golden opportunities. One thing the local government continues to strive for is that regional tourism dynamics can impact economic development and growth, as well as improve the welfare of local communities in the creative product sector, the directorate of the creative music industry, and the performing arts. The neo-vernacular architectural approach is used in the design of a creative hub, with a descriptive analysis method that uses qualitative research by collecting and recording detailed data on various problems related to the design object. The results of the application of neo-vernacular architecture are in the form of facades, roof shapes, materials, and spatial zoning. Later, this creative hub is expected to open up jobs for creative actors, become a place to preserve and develop Manggarai culture, and become a new tourist destination in the Labuan Bajo city.

Abstract

Through this activity, socialization of digital documentation has been carried out to community members at the Pathok Negoro Wonokromo mosque. Then, digital documentation of Virtual Reality was displayed, and questionnaires were filled out by 67 residents as an assessment and evaluation of the socialization of digital documentation at the Pathok Negoro Wonokromo mosque. The results of the questionnaire show that most people have known the Pathok Negoro Wonokromo mosque since childhood and agree that the Pathok Negoro Wonokromo mosque is the identity of the Islamic community, Javanese society, and is a symbol of the glory of the Sultanate of Yogyakarta. The community also agreed that through digital documentation that was broadcast, it had provided information about the culture and history of the Pathok Negoro Wonokromo Mosque. However, the community considers that the building details, colors, and details in the digital documentation that is broadcast need to be adjusted again to the conditions of the Pathok Negoro Wonokromo mosque. In addition, the results of the questionnaire also show that the community does not agree if the Pathok Negoro mosque is changed to a modern mosque.

Abstract

Accurate spatial documentation is essential for rural settlement planning, particularly in hilly areas where conventional field surveys are time‑consuming and often lack detailed topographic information. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) mapping in improving spatial data accuracy and survey efficiency for settlement planning. The research was conducted in Puspo Hamlet, Purworejo, a rural settlement located in a complex hilly landscape with slopes of 15–35°. An exploratory case study approach based on spatial analysis was applied, integrating UAV aerial surveys, field observations, and photogrammetric processing using Structure‑from‑Motion techniques. The UAV survey covered approximately 35 hectares and produced high‑resolution orthophotos with a ground sampling distance of 3–5 cm/pixel as well as DEM and DSM datasets with horizontal accuracy of ±10 cm and vertical accuracy of ±15 cm. The results show that UAV mapping provides highly detailed spatial information while reducing survey time to about two days compared with more than one week using conventional survey methods.
