Abstract

ABSTRACT Stroke is the third leading cause of death after heart disease and cancer, and is the first cause of disability. Treatment for stroke due to clinical outcomes of death, disability, recurrent stroke, discomfort and dissatisfaction requires high costs. The purpose of this community service is to create public awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle and to increase immunity so that they are not susceptible to disease. This community service was carried out with an interactive method with the participants of the Youth Posyandu RW 15 in Tlogosari Kulon in the form of stroke prevention education as early as possible, stroke exercise, posters distribution, and stroke exercise training. This activity was attended by 46 teenagers. Of the 46 participants, only 23 people were willing to have their quality of life measure. There was a significant difference (p<0.05) in the level of knowledge of participants after three stages of stroke prevention counselling, which included material on matters related to stroke, material on stroke risk factors, material on recognizing early symptoms of stroke and material on smart ways to prevent stroke. The success rate of stroke prevention exercise training also showed significant results (p<0.05), which was seen from the increasing cohesiveness of the exercise movements, both opening, core, closing and overall exercises. The participant’s blood pressure decreased significantly (p<0.05) in both diastolic and systolic blood pressure. This shows that the purpose of this community service activity has succeeded in providing benefits for PALAPA exercise participants. The results of the measurement of the quality of life of adolescents indicate an increase in the value of EQ-VAS and the value of EQ-5D-5L, which can be seen from the increase in the utility of adolescents after anti-stroke exercise. Abstract

Acute ear canal inflammation, or otitis externa, is brought on by bacterial, fungal, or viral infections. One of factor that cause inflammation of the outer ear is a change in the pH in the ear canal, which is usually normal or acidic. When the pH becomes alkaline, protection against infection decreases. Edema of the squamous epithelium can result from the picking habit's reduction of the protective layer. It can cause local trauma which causes bacteria to enter through the skin, inflate and cause exudate. The aim of this study was to determine the relationship between ear picking habits and the incidence of otitis externa at Roemani Muhammadiyah Hospital. This study uses a cross-sectional design and observational analysis. Using a purposive sampling technique, samples of all ENT polyclinic patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria between January 2019 and December 2020 at Roemani Muhammadiyah Hospital in Semarang City, Central Java Province totaled roughly 36 individuals. The responders were asked to fill out a questionnaire. It has several questions that were utilized as study guidelines to gather research data and as note-taking tools. According to the findings, ear plucking and otitis externa were significantly correlated with a prevalence value of 0.000 <0.05. There is a significant relationship between the habit of picking the ears and otitis externa in ENT polyclinic patients, Roemani Muhammadiyah Hospital, Semarang.
