Abstract

This study was executed to analyze the water quality of  Riam Kanan River, especially  at Awang Bangkal village, Karang Intan District, Banjar County.  The analysis using the purposive sampling method was done at four stations; at a station before any activities involved in the river and surroundings,   at after the presence of aquaculture activities, at after the presence of some settlements, and at after some activities of coral sand mining and aquaculture.   The incite and laboratory analysis result for 13 parameters of the fourth stations showed that there were 3 parameters (BOD, COD, and DO) at Station I-III and 5 parameters (TSS, BOD, COD, DO and oil/fat) at Station IV which have exceeded the first grade water quality standard according to PPRI No. 82 2001 and the decree of South Kalimantan Governor  No.05 2007.  Based on the status of water quality standard,  it can be determined that the Riam Kanan River, especially Awang Bangkal Village, Karang Intan District, Banjar County was included in moderate- contaminated, whereas at the station after the coral sand mining was heavy contaminated.  It can be concluded that in general, the Riam Kanan River, especially Awang Bangkal Village, Karang Intan District, Banjar County was unfit to be used as drinking water.

Abstract

Teluk Pamukan is the closest fishing ground used by fishermen who live on the coast of Teluk Pamukan. Apart from fisheries, several other activities in the Teluk Pamukan area include industrial shipping or coal transportation traffic using barges, transportation of crude palm oil (CPO), and is an area for loading and unloading fertilizers and oil palm kernels by tankers. This activity has led to allegations of disturbance in the aquatic ecosystem in the form of a decrease in water quality, particularly in fishing areas. The decrease in water quality will certainly affect the status of water quality that is no longer by its designation so that it can cause social problems in the community. The purpose of this research was to identify the general characteristics of Teluk Pamukan, map the distribution patterns of water quality and the scale of water quality in Teluk Pamukan, and to analyze fishermen's perceptions of the decline in water quality. The sampling location was in the waters of Teluk Pamukan. The method used to determine the status of water quality was the Pollutant Index according to the opinion of Sumitomo and Nemerow (1970). The results obtained can be concluded that the environmental quality scale for each parameter varied from very bad to very good. However, the results of the pollutant index calculation at all stations were included in the Moderately Polluted category

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the water quality of Sungai Batang Alai. Water quality of physics and chemistry properties were analized in location of sand mining and without sand mining. Research conducted at Sungai Batang Alai Village Wawai District of South Batang Alai Hulu Sungai Tengah. Parameters of physical and chemical of water which analyzed were temperature, TSS, TDS, Debit, BOD, COD, DO, pH, Fe, and Mn. The sample were taken at 4 points with 3x replicatation. Status of water water quality were  determined by using STORET method, then the results were compared with status of river water quality status of Class I based on South Kalimantan Governor Regulation No. 5 of 2007 on the status of river water quality. The results showed that the sand mining activities negatively impact the water quality of the river Batang Alai than the location there are no sand mining. This can be seen by the river water quality status in the area before the sand mining in the category of Class I to Class III down to the location of the existing sand mining.

Abstract

The Kuin River is a small river located in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan. Various land use activities in the Kuin River area such as residential activities are thought to have affected the water quality of the Kuin River. This study aims to analyze the content of heavy metals (Pb, Cu, Fe, Mn) in water bodies and sediments in the waters of the Kuin River, Banjarmasin City. The research was conducted in River Kuin, District, Banjarmasin City, South Kalimantan Province. Determination of the research location in Table 1 uses the Purposive Sampling Method, which is a method of taking samples from a population. The location of observations was recorded using a Global Positioning System (GPS) tool. Based on the results of this study, the waters of the Kuin River Banjarmasin contained a heavy metal content of Manganese (Mn) obtained in water as much as <0.03 mg/L. The heavy metal content of Manganese (Mn) in the sediment is 5.6 - 19.8 mg/kg. Meanwhile, the heavy metal content of Lead (Pb) obtained in water was < 0.03 mg/L. The heavy metal content of Lead (Pb) in the sediment is 5.6 - 19.8 mg/kg. In addition, in the waters of the Kuin River Banjarmasin there is a heavy metal content of Copper (Cu) obtained in water as much as <0.03 mg/L. The heavy metal content of Copper (Cu) in the sediment is 5.6 - 19.8 mg/kg. Heavy metal Iron (Fe) obtained in water is < 0.03 mg/L. The heavy metal content of Iron (Fe) in the sediment is 5.6 - 19.8 mg/kg.
