Abstract

Graduates students mostly oriented into a job seeker, not the job creators. There is an assumption that the preparations become entrepreneurs during college, lead to failure in passing study on university. Science and technology-based entrepreneurship education can change those assumption, so it can affect a student's readiness for entrepreneurship on 3 aspect: affective (attitude), cognitive (knowledge), and psychomotor (skills). This research aimed to analyzed the effect of science and technology-based entrepreneurship programs to changes in student readiness. This research was quasy experimental by intervented 20 tenants, the participant of Ipteks bagi Kewirausahaan (Science and Technology for Entrepreneurship) at the Polytechnic of Health Bhakti Setya Indonesia. Students attended a series of science and technology-basedentrepreneurship education program especially by approaching of herbal saintification in various kinds of products that lead to supporting therapy. The intervention consist of a motivational training program, training on creating products, internships in industry partners, and comparative study. Data was collected by questionnaire test in pre and post treatment to determine the student’s readiness changing. Data was analyzed by paired T-test. The result showed that the intervention of science and technology-based entrepreneurship programs can improve student’s readiness in entrepreneurship. Keywords: entrepreneurship, entrepreneurship readiness, student, science and technology

Abstract

Pandanus amayllifolius Roxb which commonly used as a flavoring and food coloring waspotentially have antibacterial activity. It should be an effort to develop a safe naturalpreservatives to reduce cases of food poisoning (foodborne disease) which mainly caused bybacterial pathogens. This study aims to determine the antibacterial potency of the water extract, ethanol, ethyl acetate, and a mixture of ethanol-ethyl acetate (1:1 v/v) extract againstStaphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli based on the value of MIC (Minimum InhibitoryConcentration) and MBC (Minimum Batericidal Activity). The antibacterial activity wasevaluated by the Kirby-Bauer diffusion method by making the extract concentration of 25 and50 %, as well as the loading dose tested was 2.5 mg and 5 mg/disc. MIC and MBC wasevaluated by solid dilution method. The results showed that the ethanol extract and water extractdon’t have antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus and Escherichia coli, whereasthe ethyl acetate extract and a mixture of ethanol-ethyl acetate (1:1 v/v) have an antibacterialactivity. Ethyl acetate extract showed the highest inhibitory potency. The MIC and MBC was 186 Pharmaҫiana, Vol. 4, No. 2, 2014: 185-192obtained at a level of 1.1% w/v and 6.7% w/v against Staphylococcus aureus, and 0.5% w/v and4.5% w/v against Escherichia coli.

Abstract

The prevalence of intestinal worms in Indonesia is still very high. Worming treatment can be performed using traditional medicine like papaya (Carica papaya). The purpose of this study to determine whether the ethanol extract of papaya (Carica papaya) concentration of 5% w / v, 10% w / v, 15% w / v has an influence on the time of death Ascaridia galli Schrank in vitro, knowing LC50 and LC90 , and knowing the chemical constituents in the ethanol extract of papaya (Carica papaya). Type of research is experimental because the use of treatment with the study design Posttest Only Control Groups Design. The sample used is Ascaridia galli Schrank females taken from chicken intestine. How it works in this research Ascaridia galli Schrank soak in a solution of NaCl 0.9% as negative control, a solution of piperazine citrate 0.9% as positive control, and a solution of ethanol extract of papaya (Carica papaya) with various concentrations. Each treatment group consisted of 15 worms were divided into five pots. Observations were made every 4 hours for 48 hours. Data were analyzed with the time of death worm SPSS 17 Kruskal Wallis method. Calculation LC50 and LC90 were analyzed by linear regression. Results of processing by Kruskal Wallis showed the ethanol extract of papaya (Carica papaya) concentration of 5% w / v, 10% w / v, and 15% w / v has an influence on the time of death Ascaridia galli Schrank in vitro. The results of calculations based on linear regression analysis showed LC50 ethanol extract of papaya (Carica papaya) at a concentration of 4.42% and LC90 at a concentration of 7.68%. Chemical identification results showed that ethanol extracts of leaves of papaya (Carica papaya) contain alkaloids, saponins, and tannins. Keywords: Carica papaya, Ascaridia galli Schrank.

Abstract

Jamu is a traditional medicinal preparation proven to have many pharmacological properties and is widely used in Indonesian society. Unfortunately, many people do not like herbal medicine because of its unpleasant taste and odor. This phenomenon has driven much research in modifying the organoleptic parameters of jamu to make it more acceptable to the tongues and noses of consumers while still having a potent effect on health. This study, thus, aimed to formulate a roselle (Hibiscus sabdariffa)-enhanced jamu godog (traditional Indonesian herbal decoction) and evaluate its organoleptic properties, physical stability, and microbial quality. Jamu godog was prepared by sequentially boiling and mixing ground ginger, turmeric, lemongrass, roselle, rock sugar, and lime, with roselle concentrations set at 0%, 0.3%, and 0.6%. Organoleptic attributes and pH stability were assessed before and after storage at 4°C and 25°C for seven days. Microbial contamination was measured via total plate count (TPC) after storage at 4°C for three and seven days. A hedonic test with 40 participants across two age groups evaluated sensory acceptance. Results indicate that the addition of roselle at 0.3% concentration optimized taste and overall acceptability while maintaining pH stability and microbial safety within BPOM standards throughout the storage period. This formulation demonstrates potential as a palatable and microbiologically safe herbal preparation with enhanced consumer acceptance.

Abstract

Binahong leaves (Anredera cordifolia (Ten.) Steenis) are known to contain antibacterial activity compounds. The compounds contained in binahong leaves include flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, and tannins. Escherichia coli is a gram-negative bacteria that often causes infections such as diarrhea. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ethanolic extract, n-hexane fraction, and chloroform fraction of binahong leaves on the growth of Escherichia coli bacteria and its phytochemical screening This research used ethanolic extract, hexane fraction and chloroform fraction of binahong leaves against Escherichia coli bacteria with concentrations of 12.5, 25 and 50% The positive control was chloramphenicol and the negative control was DMSO The method used disk diffusion technique, marked the presence of clear areas around the paper disc that showed an obstacle to bacterial growth phytochemical screening of alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins and tannins using a test tube. The result showed antibacterial activity against the growth of Escherichia coli with the diameter of the inhibition zone at concentrations of 12.5, 25, and 50%, namely the hexane fraction of 8.16; 9.73 and 12.93 mm. At the chloroform fraction 7.67; 8.47 and 9.87 mm. and the ethanolic extract of 7.33; 9.95 and 13.32 mm. The result of the largest inhibition zone was the ethanolic extract of binahong leaves with a concentration of 50%. The results of phytochemical screening using a test tube showed that the compounds contained in the ethanolic extract were flavonoids, alkaloids, saponins, and tannins.
