Abstract

Quality drinking-water is human basic need in life. Jabodetabek as concentrated resident and industrial area, can’t supply drinking-water need so we need alternative source such as refill drinking water. Health Minister has been assigned quality drinking-water parameters whichis if one of the parameter out from criteria value so the drinking-water not feasible. Pharmacy Laboratory of NIHRD do routine test per year for drinking water. Some of the sample is refill drinking water that applied by community or refill drinking water seller. This article described the result of feasibility study of refill drinking-water on 2011. The design of this study is cross sectional study. The data comes from refill drinking-water test in and out Jabodetabek which applied by community to get feasibility certificate of drinking water in Pharmacy Laboratory, Biomedical and Basic Health Technology Center in January until November 2011. The data was analyzed by descriptive statistic in STATA 9. A hundred and thirty-nine (139) refill drinking-water comes from in and out Jabodetabek. From this data, 105 (75,5%) sample was feasible to drink. There are two variable which cause samples didn’t feasible to drink, Manganese level and degree of acidity value (pH).There is one sample which has Manganese level above maximum level and 33 (23,6%) samples have pH value below 6,5. Most of the refill drinking-water samples feasible and fulfill requirement of physical and chemical paremeters, except Manganese level and pH value. The best filter methods in this study is hexagonal method

Abstract

The incidence of malaria in Indonesia is about two million cases annually. Dihydroartemisinin-piperaquine (DHP) is the first line therapy recommended for uncomplicated malaria treatment, whereas DHP is still fully imported. The generic DHP tablet formulation has the potential to become the first of DHP drug which is locally produced. This study is aimed to formulate generic DHP film coated tablets for antimalaria drug. Tablets were compressed with the combination of wet granulation for piperaquine phosphate (PQP) and direct compression method for DHA and coated with a moisture barier coating material. The parameters to evaluate the quality of DHP tablets are physical properties, assay, and dissolution test. DHA and PQP assay were performed by HPLC method. The dissolution testing was conducted by in house method using HCl 0.1 N medium. The result shows physical properties of filmcoated tablets meet the requirement, i.e. uniform weight, 7.0-8.5 kp hardness, 0.02% friability and 3 minute 22 seconds disintegration. The assay to determine DHA in tablet was 95.17% and PQP was 97.05%. The result of dissolution testing shows the content of DHA and PQP in the tablet were 113.51% and 96.55%, respesctively. The formulation which is developed meets the general requirement of API in tablet 90–110% and dissolution requirement >75%.

Abstract

Gambir (Uncaria gambirRoxb) is a plant that has many benefits to health such as antioxidants, antihiperlipidemiaandantibacterial. Gambir extract derived from the leaves and twigs of Uncaria gambirRoxb through the process of removing the sap by being boiled, squeezed / compressed, liquid is deposited, molded and dried. During the plant grows, then harvest, process, stored and distributed, it is might contaminated with microbes or chemicals. Based on the requirement issued by BPOM No. 12, 2014 about Traditional Medicine Quality Requirements, it requires us to test the extract that we will use. To determine the contaminant of all three gambir extracts, we tested against yeast fungi figures, total plate count, aflatoxin and heavy metals. Besides that, we also determine content of active compound of methyl gallate which has benefits as an antioxidant with a densitometer. the result shows, there werecontaminants that exceeded the requirements. Contaminants that exceeds the requirement are number of fungi yeasts (7,5.10-6) and aflatoxin G2 (47,38.106ppb) in gambier extract quality 3. The highest content of active compound of methyl gallate was obtained from extracts of gambir quality 3 (2.30%) followed by gambir quality 2 (0.44%) and gambir quality1 (0.14%).

Abstract

Gambir extract contains a high content of catechin. Catechin has so many benefits, such as antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-atherosclerosis.Gambir are widely available in Indonesia, especially in West Sumatra, might be a sustainable source of catechin. Catechin is easily oxidized and hygroscopic. Film coating is used to protect catechin contained in a tablet from moisture and light. Study of film-coated tablet of catechin has not been conducted before. This study aims to formulate film-coated tablet of catechin from gambir and evaluate its physical properties. Catechin was percolated from gambir extract using ethyl astetat. The ethyl acetate fraction of gambir extract contains 92,48±0,28% catechin. Tablets were compressed with direct compression method and coated with a polymer coating material. The physical properties of core tablet and film-coated tablet were evaluated toward weight uniformity, hardness, friability, and disintegration time. Friability testing was conducted only on core tablet. The formulation produced tablets with uniform weight, 16,6 ±1,97 Kp hardness, and 4 minutes 15 seconds disintegration time. Weight uniformity and disintegration time of the tablet meet the requirements.

Abstract

Beef is a nutritious food to consume due to its nutrient content that needed by human body. The demand for beef increases in certain times, such as in religion event or in the holiday. Special treatment is needed for the slaughter time to ready to consume beef, such as freezing or refrigerating. This research aimed to identify the quality of fresh beef as well as frozen beef in the traditional market and frozen beef in supermarket regarding its content of micronutrient (iron and zinc), preservatives (nitrate), and another dangerous additional food (formaldehyde) in cub roll, upper thighs, and lower thighs of beef. This was a cross-sectional and laboratory observational designed research. The result showed that iron, zinc, and nitrite concentration on fresh beef and frozen beef in traditional market and supermarket on any side of the beef sample was not significantly different (p>0.05). Nitrite concentration was within the permitted level. All beef samples also had not contain formaldehyde.
