Abstract

This research focused on examining the receptive and expressive abilities of a child with ASD/ADHD with initial name “T” who is able to communicate with two language or a bilingual at SDS Permata Ananda in Bekasi. ASD is the condition of a child with developmental disorder mostly affects the ability in interaction, communication, and socializing. The purpose of this research is to find out the receptive and expressive ability of a child with such difficulties and able to acquire not one but two language in young age. This research was conducted by using observation method and Simak, Libat, Cakap (SLB) technique in which researchers were directly involved in interviews and interactions with the subject. The language used in interactions is Indonesian as T’s first language (L1) and English as her second language (L2). The results of this study indicated that the subject has excellent receptive and expressive abilities in receiving and producing speech both in L1 and L2. The receptive and expressive ability of the subject both in L1 and L2 can be found from how the subject is able to understand the meaning and purpose of the speech of the interlocutor and then provided responses in the form of speech that is appropriate to the context of the speech of the interlocutor. These findings prove that by getting the right treatments and strategies as early as possible, the interaction difficulty will not become a problem in language acquisition.

Abstract

Konjungsi merupakan kelas kata yang ada pada setiap bahasa. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan perilaku sintaksis konjungsi koordinatif bahasa Jepang. Perilaku sintaksis tersebut meliputi fungsi konjungsi, letak struktural konjungsi, dan sifat kehadiran konjungsi. Sumber data penelitian ini yaitu Biografi Hellen Keller, Esai Read Real Japanese, dan kumpulan Cerpen DonDon Yomeru IriIro Na Hanashi. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang bersifat deskriptif. Dalam menganalisis data peneliti menggunakan metode padan translasional untuk pemindahan arti dari bahasa Jepang ke bahasa Indonesia. Untuk menganalisis  fungsi konjungsi, letak struktural konjungsi, dan sifat kehadiran konjungsi peneliti menggunakan metode distribusional beserta tekniknnya. Hasil analisis data menunjukan bahwa fungsi konjungsi koordinatif bahasa Jepang yaitu menghubungkan kata dengan kata yaitu konjungsi to dan konjungsi ya, dan menghubungkan klausa dengan kluasa yaitu konjungsi ga dan konjungsi -shi. Letak struktural konjungsi koordinatif bahasa Jepang  yaitu berada di antara unsur yang digabungkan. Sementara itu, sifat kehadiran konjungsi di dalam konstruksi adalah wajib dan tidak dapat dilesapkan.  Conjunction is a class of words that exist in every language. This study aims to describe the syntactic behavior of Japanese coordinating conjunctions. The syntactic behavior includes the function of the conjunction, the structural location of the conjunction, and the presence of the conjunction. The data sources of this research are Hellen Keller Biography, Real Japanese Read Essays, and a collection of Dondon Yomeru Hanashi short stories. This research is a descriptive qualitative research. In analyzing the data the researcher applies the translational equivalent method for the transfer of meaning from Japanese to Indonesian. To analyze the function of the conjunction, the structural location of the conjunction, and the nature of the presence of the conjunction, the researcher uses the distributional method and its technique. The results of data analysis show that the coordinating conjunctions of Japanese are linking words to words, namely conjunctions to and conjunctions ya and linking clauses with clauses, which is conjunctions ga and conjunctions -shi. The structural position of Japanese coordinating conjunctions is among the elements combined. Meanwhile, the presence of conjunctions in construction is mandatory and cannot be mitigated.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the mental lexicon capacity of a male and a female subject using word association test. Distributional and identity methods were used in analyzing the data. This research employed Kent-Rosanoff word association test to measure and analyze the mental lexicon capacity and investigate the word class and conceptual areas. The findings of this research show that the mean of male and female mental lexicon capacity are significantly different, with male producing 11.26 words and female 13.39 words per stimulus. The female subject gave 213 more responses than the male subject. In this research, word class association forms uncovered striking similarities between the two sexes based on the response percentage hierarchy. The order from the highest number of word class association form to the lowest one is fairly the same: N-N ± 40%, A-N ± 20%, N-A ± 15%, N-V ± 8%, A-N ± 4%, V-N ± 3%, and A-V ± 2%. This research found that the male and female subjects' differences in mental lexicon capacity were due to psychological and social factors. Keywords: Mental lexicon capacity, male language, female language, word association
