It has been known that the right hemisphere is contributed to language processing, especially in macro level, including macrostructure or discourse processing. This research is aimed at evaluating the students' ability in language processing concerning macrostructure and the right hemispher brain function. This research is based on Dharmaperwira-prins method 'Right Hemisphere Communication Assessment' (Pemeriksaan Komunikasi Hemisfer Kanan/PKHK). Research on students' ability in macrostructure processing is important to conduct since students nowadays are regarded lack of ability in well being communication. The research is conducted toward 38 students of English Department of Andalas University. The data are taken by paper test which is designed to evaluate the students' ability in macrostructure. The result of research shows that most students have problems in providing important information, adjective, and feeling. By this result, it can be assumed that the participants have problem in right hemisphere competence concerning to language processing. These problems evoke not by accident or lesion in right hemisphere, yet it is caused by brain development which is focused on left hemisphere only. This paper explains the significance of neurolinguistics as one of interdisciplinary fields of linguistics encompassing the analytical procedures on individual speech disorders in producing and using language. The result of analysis is used for designing a model and strategy to improve their language capacity. Neurolinguistics roadmap covers some previous researches done by Sastra et all since 2006. Those studies investigate language and speech disorders including thinking ailments, and answer the inherent question on neurolinguistics contribution for addressing the individual problems to express themselves. Those problems are caused by some disorders on the left and right hemispheres of the brain. Science wise, neurolinguistics will always develop because the language phenomena always happen in human life through thinking and speech.

This research investigates English lecturers' attitude toward the variation of English in the process of English learning. The purpose of this study is to discuss the types of English variations uttered by English lecturers who are considered as respondents in this study and their attitudes toward the variations of language that appear to their own speech during the teaching-learning process. This research is descriptive by using qualitative approach. The data to be presented in this research is taken from several words of Indonesian lecturers at several universities in Padang West Sumatra by distributing some questionnaires and also interviews. The method of data analysis is divided into two types, first, methods which related to the correlation of external language objects with a non-linguistic element called correlation method or method of matching, and secondly, methods which related to surgical, processing or internal verbal tampering called the method of operation or distribution method.

Documentary films, generally of short or medium-length, have informative and educational purposes. They present authentic reports on areas of life, human activities, and the natural world. Particularly, eco-documentaries aim to raise environmental awareness towards the degradation of natural elements; they present alternatives for environmental issues such as pollution, global warming, and deforestation. To reinforce the argumentative process of environmental documentaries, laymen discourse contributes a lot to the meaning-making of productions. Within the framework of discourse analysis and ecolinguistics, this work examines fear and threat expressions used by ordinary witnesses to reinforce argumentation in Lahoucine Faouzi's eco-documentary entitled "Whining of the Blue Lagoon". In this vein, the 'perceived severity and perceived susceptibility' model was used to investigate the implication of fear and threat appeals in laymen's testimonies. The results show that these expressions are common among laymen's narratives. This study has many implications for eco-documentary makers, governmental and non-governmental organs, and future research to explore other linguistic features in eco-documentaries on man's perpetrated damages to the environmental resources.

The article aims to describe the implementation blended learning environment in teaching writing skills. The research is based on the blended learning framework that integrates face-to-face methods and online learning methods. The face-to-face method is given to see students' activeness in delivering ideas and brainstorming before writing essays. The online learning method is used to see students' ability to elaborate ideas from drafting to become a complete essay. Thus, students can be effective in learning in class to discuss their draft an essay and not spend much time writing. The implementation of blended learning was distributed to three session: brainstorming, drafting, and final writing. The evaluation was done for each cycle. After the evaluation, students get feedback for their performance in the previous session. The result post-test shows that students in the experimental class have indicated a significant improvement in essay writing performance with significance 0,06>0,05 with an average score of 76,35. The result of the research is very important as a framework to develop learning models for teaching writing at universities.

The research focuses on the use of instructional media in the blended learning platform to improve students' ability in writing essays. The implementation of blended learning is carried out in three cycles: brainstorming, drafting, and final writing. At the end of each cycle, there is an evaluation to find out the progress of the learning. Feedback is given from the evaluation results to overcome problems that arise in the previous cycle. The subjects of the research are students of Universitas Andalas who divided as control class and experimental class. The purpose of this study is (a) short-term; To help overcome student problems and improve their ability to write essays in English (b) long-term is to provide a basis for learning models of English writing essays at universities. The pretest indicates that 59% of participants from the control class have a low score (below 60) while in experimental class, about 60% of participants get a score below 60. The result of the research shows significant improvement in essay writing performance with an average score of post-test 76.35. By using the t-test can be seen the significance value of 0.06> 0.05, which indicates that the use of instructional media in the blended learning platform can improve students performance in writing an essay.

Research on language competence of university students is critical since many people consider them have problem in well manner, especially in communication. Communication is not only passing information from speaker to hearer through language but also involve critical thinking and cognitive aspect of language. Macrostructure is competence which reflects speakers ability in using cognitive aspect to processing language. While microstructure is processed in left hemispher, macrostructure depends on process in right hemisphere. It is because macrostructure need holistic processing which connect partial informations and figure out the relation between the informations. Research toward students of Universitas Dharma Andalas shows that many students have problem in processing macrostructure aspect of language. About 81% participants have problem in summarizing, 75% participants have problem in memorizing adjective, 70% participants have problem in immidiate memory processing, 75% particiants have difficulty in figuring implicit relation, and 70% participants have difficult in using cohesion.

Research on behavior therapy has been conducted on patients with dysarthria, a disorder of articulation due to impairment of the central nervous system, which directly controls the activity of the muscles that play a role in the process of articulation in the pronunciation production. This study discusses three issues: lingual form made by people with dysarthria before getting behavior therapy, emotional influences on lexical and semantic knowledge of the patient, and the achievement of the model of behavior therapy applied to patients with dysarthria speech impairment. The theory used in this study was from Prins (2004) and the method of analysis applied is the method from Nunan (1992)combined with Sudaryanto (1993).The research found that there is an increased ability of patient to talk: nearly 40 percent of the index lingual knowledge or information, 20 percent of semantics, and 40 percent of feeling. Lingual index is significant as a means of therapy for patients with dysarthria. An increase in the speech ability improves confidence in facing social life.
