Abstract

The same thinking or giving the exact solution when expressed by several students in open-ended questions or High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) indicates a lack of self-efficacy. This is the background of the purpose of this study to measure self-efficacy through Student Worksheets based on empirical and theoretical reviews on static fluid materials. This study is quasi-experimental because it uses a pre-post-test control group design. Sampling will be done using a purposive sampling technique. The samples were junior high school students in one of the Lamongan districts. The results of this study indicate that the Student Worksheet based on the theoretical, empirical review can increase students’ self-efficacy. An increase in self-efficacy was observed from the average value at the time of the pre-test, 62.68%, to 71.95% at the time of the post-test. The results of these values are classified as good improvement according to the Likert scale. Self-efficacy is measured using six indicators (scientific content, problem-solving ability, laboratory usage, daily application, scientific communication, and scientific literacy). Scientific literacy indicators get the lowest average value caused by the low interest of students in learning a concept. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct further research on the relationship between student interest and self-efficacy.

Abstract

Abstract

Seaweed (Kappaphycus alvarezii) is a potential marine biological resource in Indonesia, especially in Palasa Village, Sumenep, East Java. The conventional (long-line) method applied in cultivation is still not effective and efficient enough. The urgency in this study is that the decrease in production output is influenced by environmental disturbances, such as pest attacks, strong currents and waves, as well as the problem of using plastic bottle floats in conventional cultivation methods that are not environmentally friendly. Therefore, there is a need to develop cultivation methods to increase seaweed productivity. This study aims to analyze seaweed productivity using Kajarula (Seaweed Net Bag) technology at the cultivation location of Palasa Village, Sumenep, East Java. This study uses the Group Random Design (RAK) method. The research began with the measurement of the physical-chemical quality of the waters, the creation of a design for making Kajarula from the clumps, monitoring the growth of seaweed, monitoring the quality of waters, monitoring pests and diseases, and the productivity of seaweed. Data analysis using seaweed productivity parameters including biomass production, relative growth, growth, absolute growth rate, and total harvest. The data obtained is then tabulated using the Ms. Excel application to produce representative data in the form of graphs and tables, and analyzed descriptively. From the results of the study, seaweed cultivated for 42 days produced an average biomass production of 5.54 ± 0.27 kg/unit, a relative growth of 153.41 ± 10.97%/day; growth 754 ± 27 g/binding point; absolute growth rate of 239.32 ± 21.95 g/day; and a total harvest of 5.26 – 5.82 kg/unit of bag. The water quality condition in these waters is in the optimal range in supporting the growth of seaweed. Productivity of cultivation, seaweed using Kajarula technology shows optimal growth and yield.

Abstract

Seaweed cultivation (Kappaphycus alvarezii) is the primary source of livelihood for the coastal communities of Tanjung Village, Pamekasan, Madura. This study aims to examine the role of local wisdom in seaweed conservation, including traditional practices that support the coastal ecosystem. The research employed a qualitative approach using semi-structured interviews conducted with 15 key informants, including seaweed farmers, traditional leaders, and village officials. This was followed by a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with 10 participants from seaweed farmer groups to confirm data and collectively discuss conservation and local wisdom issues. The collected data were analyzed using thematic analysis techniques to establish the relationship between traditional practices and the sustainability of seaweed. The study indicates that the local wisdom practiced by the Tanjung Village community, such as sasi rules (a traditional prohibition system) and traditional planting methods, contributes significantly to the conservation of Kappaphycus alvarezii seaweed. This local wisdom not only preserves the availability of seaweed resources but also strengthens social cohesion within the community. The integration of local wisdom with modern technology has the potential to enhance the effectiveness of conservation and seaweed productivity. Recommendations for advancing the cultivation of Kappaphycus alvarezii in Tanjung Village include: Collaboration between modern science and traditional practices is necessary to develop environmentally friendly and productive cultivation techniques, and the development of a community-based conservation model involving traditional leaders, farmers, and village officials is crucial for sustainable seaweed resource management.
