Abstract

Tilapia is a fish species in Indonesia with significant economic value. Tilapia cultivation has excellent prospects, both domestically and internationally, requiring effective measures to ensure production meets community standards. The prospects for developing tilapia cultivation are quite promising, as the low production costs of tilapia farming allow for higher profits. Biofloc technology is an alternative solution to the waste problem of intensive farming. This technology is highly advantageous because it not only reduces inorganic nitrogen waste from leftover feed and feces, but also provides supplemental protein feed for farmed animals, thereby increasing growth and feed efficiency. This study aims to analyze the benefits and factors that influence the success of tilapia biofloc cultivation in SikoFish Gorontalo. This study uses a quantitative method with data collection techniques through surveys and observations. The results of the study indicate that tilapia biofloc cultivation can generate profits of Rp. 180,585,000 / harvest with a return on investment of 1.14 years. Factors that influence the success of tilapia biofloc cultivation are location selection, container preparation, media preparation, seed preparation, seed distribution, feed management, water quality management, and floc density. Therefore, it is necessary to develop business and production cost efficiency to increase income and make tilapia biofloc cultivation viable.

Abstract

Vocabulary mastery is essential for effective communication in language learning, yet students often struggle with understanding and retaining new words. This study aimed to explore the strategies used by an English teacher to enhance vocabulary mastery in the Bilingual Class at MTsN 1 Gondanglegi Malang. A descriptive qualitative approach was employed, involving one English teacher and seventh-grade students as participants. Data were collected through classroom observations and Focus Group Interviews (FGI), with an iterative technique applied to ensure data richness. The analysis included familiarizing and organizing, coding and reducing, and interpreting and representing the data. Credibility and confirmability were maintained through triangulation of observation, FGI, and audit trails such as video and record documentation. The findings revealed four main teaching strategies: text-based teaching, dictionary use, memorization, and blended-skills instruction. The study also identified key challenges, including students’ limited understanding of vocabulary and their tendency to forget new words. Based on these findings, it is recommended that teachers integrate more interactive and innovative strategies to enhance vocabulary retention and engagement. The study provides practical implications for EFL teachers and contributes to the literature on effective vocabulary teaching strategies.

Abstract

English, as an international language, plays a significant role in education, especially in preparing students to face global challenges. However, the teaching of English in rural schools still faces several obstacles that affect the effectiveness of learning. This study aims to identify and analyze the challenges faced by English teachers at MTs Rubath Naqsyabandiyah, a school in a rural area. The study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, where data is collected through classroom observation and in-depth interviews with English teachers. Data analysis follows the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of the study show several main challenges in teaching English, including low student interest in the subject, lack of support from parents and the surrounding community, teachers' perceived low quality, and high administrative and curriculum burdens. Students in rural areas often fail to see the relevance of English learning to their everyday lives, which reduces their motivation to learn. Additionally, the lack of support from parents worsens the challenges that teachers face in teaching English in these schools. To address these challenges, the study provides several recommendations aimed at improving the effectiveness of English teaching in rural schools. First, increasing student interest by developing fun and relevant teaching methods that connect English to daily activities, local culture, and regional potential. Second, involving parents in supporting their children's English language learning.
