Abstract

The thermal efficiency of a steam power plant is very important to know because it involves the initial input of a steam supply that will turn a turbine. This is done to analyze how much thermal efficiency is used in the generation system, so that it can be seen the continued use of the generation system, which is influenced by the value of the Net Plant Heat rate (NPHR). The purpose of this study is to analyze the thermal efficiency of the steam power plant. The method used is the direct method, using a two-semester system namely: semester one (January-June) and then taking months that represent or tend to be stable data, as well as the second semester (July-December). Analysis results In the case study of a steam power plant in Nii Tanasa, the average thermal efficiency value was 17.09%, while in the second semester the analysis of thermal efficiency values was obtained an average value of 15.54%. This value still tends to be low at a capacity of 100 MW, so it is necessary to evaluate the value of the Net plant heat rate (NPHR), especially the type of fuel used, because the calculation on thermal efficiency is strongly influenced by that value. Key words: NPHR, Efficiency, Semester, steam, thermal

Abstract

Pandemik Covid-19 masih terus berlangsung sejak pertama kali terdeteksi di Wuhan, China, akhirDesember 2019. Pola penyebarannya kian meningkat dan tidak mengenal umur serta iklim sehinggaberbagai negara memberlakukan aturan protokoler kesehatan yang ketat Social Distancing, PhysicalDistancing, anjuran memakai masker dan tak kala pentingnya sesering mungkin mencuci tangan.Kegiatan pengabdian pendampingan pembuatan wastafel portable merupakan wujud kolaborasiantara bengkel las dan akademisi Teknik Mesin Universitas Halu Oleo Kendari. Metode pengabdianmemberikan pendampingan pembuatan wastafel bagi tukang las dalam rangka memutus penyebaranCovid-19 yang telah memasuki Era New Normal di Wilayah Kendari. Hasil pengabdian terlaksanadengan baik dalam suasana pandemik Covid-19 dengan tetap memperhatikan protokol kesehatan,pihak mitra Bengkel Las Mekar Surya dan Bengkel Las Fajar sangat antuasias mengikuti programpendampigan. Program pendampingan ini juga melibatkan mahasiswa yang memiliki kompentensilas, sehingga melalui pengabdian dapat terjalin saling tukar informasi dan pengalaman kerja sebagaisolusi meningkatkan kreativitas dan inovasi bagi bengkel las dimasa pandemik Covid-19 di KotaKendari.

Abstract

Permasalahan yang dihadapi mitra atau petani nilam khususnya di Desa Aoma Kecamatan Wolasi Kabupaten Konawe Selatan Provinsi Sulawesi Tenggara adalah belum tersedianya teknologi tepat guna dalam bentuk mesin pencacah nilam, masyarakat desa saat ini masih menggunakan alat manual atau tradisional seperti parang yang dimodifikasi untuk mencacah nilam, sehingga memerlukan waktu yang lama dan tenaga yang besar dalam pengolahannya. Permasalahan lain juga ditemukan bahwa pengetahuan masyarakat desa Aoma tentang teknologi tepat guna, baik dari segi desain mesin, cara pembuatan, pengoperasian, dan perawatan mesin yang sangat minim. Solusi yang diberikan pada kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah membuat mesin pencacah nilam dan selanjutnya melakukan pengenalan dan penyuluhan teknologi tepat guna alat pencacah nilam. Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah desain dan pengenalan mesin pencacah nilam dan bimbingan teknis kepada mitra, sehingga petani atau masyarakat tidak lagi menggunakan alat manual untuk mencacah nilam, dengan mesin ini diharapkan petani dapat meningkatkan hasil produksi nilam yang siap untuk diproses ke penyulingan minyak nilam. Dengan adanya model mesin pencacah nilam dan bimbingan teknis maka harapan kedepannya masyarakat desa Aoma dapat meningkatkan produksi nilamnya dan menjadi masyarakat produktif secara ekonomi.

Abstract

One of the classic problems that are difficult to overcome in urban life is environmental problems where waste is not handled properly, especially inorganic waste. Currently, the largest contributor to waste after organic waste is inorganic waste in the form of canned waste. The use of aluminum as a packaging material is due to its being lightweight, easy to shape, and does not endanger human health. On that basis, its use as packaging is widespread which also triggers the forerunner of the waste problem in people's lives. Aluminum waste will be a source of income for the community if it is handled properly by involving waste processing technology in the form of recycling technology through metal smelting or casting. This service program aims to introduce metal casting applications made from canned waste into frying pan products for the community in Lepo-Lepo, Kendari City. The activity stages include: socializing the introduction of aluminum-based cans of packaging waste and the practice of smelting aluminum cans in a crucible furnace and pouring molten metal into molds. The implementation of this service activity can raise awareness of participants to be able to process waste, especially aluminum can packaging into frying pan products, and create new jobs to improve the welfare of the local community.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to know the effect of artificial aging and natural aging on increasing hardness and micro structure of Al-Si alloy recycling. The material used in this research is Al-Si alloy which comes from motorcycle piston scrap which is casted like piston (prototype). The casting method used is acasting wherein a liquid metal is poured into a mold without pressure. Piston scrap is melted with 700????C temperature, on induction furnace for 1 hour and poured into die casting. Product of castings of prototype motorbike piston are prepared to be specimen followed by artificial aging and natural aging process with holding time 1-3 hour to test micro structure and hardness test of vickers method.Vickers hardness test results show that the maximum hardness value of aritifiacial aging specimens is 132,16 Kg / mm² with 3 hours hold time, and the lowest hardness value is 110,31 Kg / mm² with 1 hour hold time. While for themaximum hardness value of natural aging samples is 101,57 Kg / mm² with 3 hour hold time, while the lowest hardness value is obtained equal to 82,53 Kg / mm². With result of observation of micro structure of each sample undergoes structure change.Keywords: Metal casting, natural aging, artificial aging, hardness, and micro struktur.

Abstract

Energy demand in Indonesia generally continues to increase due to population growth, one of the most widely used energies is wind energy. The research objectives are to determine the geometry of the blades, design and manufacture the blades suitable for use in moderate winds and to determine the power generated. The research started from determining the geometry of the blades for medium speed wind, then making the blades and then testing the blades. The geometry of the blades formed is tapertlles blades of the horizontal axis wind turbine type NACA 6412 airfaoil using Qblade software. The blade is designed with a blade radius of 0.774 m, the chord is 0.0999 m using mahogany wood material. The manufacturing method used is the manual method with the help of machine tools. The blades are tested for equilibrium, then mounted on the tower, 10 meters high to take the data. The test results show that the blades that have been made work well and produce an average power per second of 58.29 Watt, 90.82 Watt, and 102.00 Watt, for three days of testing.Keywords: Tuperless blades, airfoil naca 6412, qblade, horizontal axis wind turbines, mahogany wood.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan redam suara pada material komposit kalsiboard, gypsumdan variasi material komposit kalsiboard-gypsum dan gypsum-kalsiboard. Penelitian ini menggunakan metodeeksperimental. Dimana hasil yang diperoleh pada penelitian ini adalah untuk kalsiboard nilai α 0.263 pada 125Hz, α 0.290 pada 250 Hz dan α 0.303 pada 500 Hz, untuk Gypsum α 0.341 pada 125 Hz, α 0.342 pada 250 Hzdan α 0.377 pada 500 Hz, untuk Kalsiboard-Gypsum α 0.352 pada 125 Hz, α 0.377 pada 250 Hz dan α 0.410pada 500 Hz, untuk Gypsum Kalsiboard α 0.350 pada 125 Hz, α 0.351 pada 250 Hz dan α 0.395 pada 500 Hz.Berdasarkan hasil diatas dapat disimpulkan kemampuan redam suara yang optimal berada pada spesimenkalsiboard-gypsum.Kata Kunci: komposit peredam suara, frekuensi, Noise Absorption Coefficient (NAC).

Abstract

Air refresher is a process of cooling the air so that it can reach the appropriate temperature and humidity required for the air condition of a certain room. The purpose of this study is to calculate the heat load in the design and construction laboratory of the mechanical engineering department, Faculty of Engineering, Halu Oleo University. The method used in this study is an analytical method by calculating the cooling load on each predetermined parameter, namely on walls, roofs, windows, doors, as well as lighting, electronic equipment and occupants. This calculation is carried out every hour from 08.00 to 17.00 local time. The results showed that the cooling load increased significantly from 08.00 until the peak occurred at 13.00 to 14.00, then the cooling load began to decrease significantly at 15.00 to 17.00. The high cooling load that occurs at 13.00 and 14.00 is thought to be due to the sun's rays coming at a vertical angle so that the heat received is greater than in the afternoon or evening where the angle of incidence of the sun's rays is tilted.Keywords: Air refresh, Cooling load

Abstract

The automatic pull shaft on the patchouli chopper is an important component of the patchouli chopper machine. The research aims to carry out an analysis of the patchouli chopper pull shaft and produce a design for the newest patchouli chopper. In this research, the focus was only on the analysis of the pulling shaft on the patchouli chopper where all research methodologies were carried out using inventor software. The main driving engine is a combustion engine with a power of 5.5 HP, S45C shaft material with a tensile strength of 58 kg/mm2, and a shaft diameter of 15 mm. In the selection of pulleys, plays with diameters of 50 mm and 300 mm are used, V - Belt speed is 0.18 m/s, circumference length is 1499 mm, using V - Belt type B with axle distance of 474.6 mm, the contact angle is 2.3 rad and the length of the chopped patchouli was 3.8 cm. From the calculations and analysis, the addition of a pulling shaft to the patchouli chopper is safe to use. Keywords: Patchouli chopping tool, Puller shaft, Patchouli
