Abstract

This study aims at looking at the correlation between the ability to play a symbolic and verbal language skills in children’s Theory of Mind. Then, the study involved subjects as many as 49 children in the kindergarten in Yogyakarta. The age range of children involved in the study was 46- 61 months. The average age of children was 54.551 months with comparison subjects by sex was a boy of 20 people (40.81%) while girls were 29 people (59.19%). Data collections were conducted through a research-contents false belief task, audiovisual recordings while the children play in pairs, rating on Smilansky Scale for Evaluation of Dramatic and Sociodramatic Play (SSEDSP), and the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence (WPPSI) on verbal subtest. Data analysis using binary logistic regression analysis techniques. The results of the analysis of the major hypotheses using Omnibus Test of Model Coefficient with scores of Chi-square=10.394, p=0.006 (p<0.01). These results indicate that there is a very significant overall model proposed in this hypothesis. Thus, it can be concluded that the symbolic playability and verbal skills can predict Theory of Mind in very significant way.

Abstract

Attachment is one of the important aspects in children’s development. However, there were some issues related with the condition of being working mothers. Based on that, the purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between the maternal sensitivity and the postnatal attachment. Respondents in the study is a working mother who have infants (0-24 months) and the number were 100 mothers. The hypothesis of this study assumed that there was a positive correlation between maternal sensitivity to postnatal attachment among working mothers. The instruments of this study were consisted of the Maternal Postnatal Attachment Scale (MPAS) (Condon & Corkindale, 1998) and Maternal Sensitivity Scale compiled by researchers in establishing maternal sensitivity aspect of Ainsworth (1969; 2006). The results showed that the research hypothesis was accepted, that was indicated with significant correlation between maternal sensitivity and postnatal attachment (r = 0.596; p = 0.000). This finding will be discussed further in this paper.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui hubungan antara dukungan sosial dan kesejahteraan psikologis guru sekolah luar biasa. Hipotesis yang diajukan dalam penelitian ini adalah ada hubungan antara dukungan sosial dan kesejahteraan psikologis guru sekolah luar biasa. Responden dalam penelitian ini berjumlah 105 orang guru sekolah luar biasa. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan 2 skala, yakni: (a) Skala Dukungan Sosial berdasarkan teori yang dikemukakan oleh Zimet, Dahlem, Zimet Farley (1988) yang memiliki nilai α= 0,868 terdiri dari 11 aitem, dan (b) Skala Kesejahteraan Psikologis mengacu pada teori yang dikemukakan oleh Ryff dan Keyes (1995) dengan nilai α= 0,818 berjumlah 13 aitem. Hasil analisis data dengan menggunakan korelasi product moment dari Spearman diketahui bahwa dukungan sosial berkorelasi dengan kesejahteraan psikologis guru Sekolah Luar Biasa r= 0,359 dan p= 0,001 (p 0,05). Dengan demikian, hipotesis yang diajukan diterima. This study was aimed to test empirically the relationship between social support with psychological well being for children with special needs’s teachers. The hypothesis of this study is there’s a relationship between social support with psychological well being for children with special needs’s teachers. Respondents in this study were 105 male and female teachers. This study has 2 measurments (a) Social Support scales which refers to Zimet, Dahlem, dan Farley (1988) α= 0,868 with 11 item. (b)  psychological well being from Ryff and Keyes (1995) α= 0,818 with 13 item. Based on the analysis with Product Moment Correlation from Spearman, researchers can concluded that there is a relationship between social support with psychological well being for children with special needs’s teachersr= 0,359 and p= 0,001 (p 0,05) and the hypothesis is accepted. The result of this study will discuss leter.
