Abstract

This article illustrates how the YouTube platform, particularly the Muslimah Media Center channel of Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia, has become the main platform for spreading anti-feminist narratives that relegate women to domestic roles. In the context of Indonesia's predominantly Muslim society, this narrative interprets feminism as a threat to Islam, creating tension between traditional values and social change. This article analyzes how the language, symbolism, and narratives used in Muslimah Media Center's YouTube content can influence perceptions and expectations of women in society. While there are diverse views within the platform, there are concerns that narratives that promote the "domestication" of women may reinforce gender stereotypes that disadvantage women in various aspects of life. This article asks important questions about the extent to which these Muslim women have the freedom to shape their own identities on and off these platforms, as well as how they cope with the social pressures and expectations that may be imposed on them. Using discourse analysis provides insights into the role of social media in influencing gender norms and opens up space for reflection and discussion on its impact on social and gender change in societies affected by religious and cultural values.

Abstract

This article discusses the phenomenon of Fear of Missing Out (FoMO) in the consumption behavior of BTS Meal by Indonesian Muslimah millennials through Jean Baudrillard’s perspective on simulacra and hyper-reality. This study uses a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach through semi-structured interviews and photo elicitation techniques on nine female Muslim millennial informants. The results indicate that BTS Meal consumption is influenced by low individual control over consumption choices and intensive social media contamination. The urge to purchase the product is no longer based on functional needs but on symbolic value and an exclusive image constructed through packaging and viral marketing. This phenomenon reflects a shift in consumption from focusing on function to self-existence in the virtual world. The BTS Meal simulacrum displays signs of value that form hyper-reality, causing consumers to no longer consider rationality but be driven by emotions and the desire to be recognized within their social community. This study concludes that FoMO among BTS Meal consumers mirrors modern consumerist culture, where virality has become the primary goal of self-existence in the digital age.

Abstract

This study examines the spiritualization of holistic education in the 21st century from Islamic and Western perspectives, highlighting the differences and similarities in spiritual paradigms that play a crucial role in shaping well-rounded individuals. The Islamic perspective emphasizes the values of tawhid, tazkiyah, and amanah, which lead to moral and ethical development. In contrast, the Western perspective focuses more on self-awareness, mindfulness, and social responsibility, promoting mental and emotional balance. Despite having different philosophical foundations, both perspectives contribute to the same educational goal: character formation and social awareness. This study also identifies the significance of the spiritual paradigm in addressing modern global challenges, such as mental health crises and social inequalities.

Abstract

Songs serve not only as aesthetic works, but also as a medium for existential reflection that mirrors the inner struggles of humans in their search for meaning in life. This article analyzes the song “Tanpa Aku” (Without Me) by Panji Sakti through the approach of Soren Kierkegaard's existentialism, with the aim of understanding the representation of human existence in song lyrics. This study analyzes the song's lyrics using a semiotic approach. The results show that the lyrics of “Tanpa Aku” describe the existential journey of humans, which begins with an aesthetic experience of alienation and loss of meaning, then develops into ethical awareness through moral reflection, and finally reaches a religious stage marked by surrender to God. Thus, “Tanpa Aku” is not only a work of music with aesthetic value, but also a philosophical text that brings together music and philosophy.

Abstract

In utilitarianism, actions are considered right to the extent that they maximize benefits for as many people as possible. However, every act of sacrifice raises a fundamental question: who benefits, and who suffers? The pursuit of collective good often overlooks the individuals who bear the burden of such decisions. Fiction often provides a space to reflect on these moral conflicts in concrete terms. A relevant example can be found in the Anime Naruto Shippuden, where Minato Namikaze seals the destructive Kyūbi into his newborn son, Naruto Uzumaki. This decision saves thousands of Konoha citizens but condemns Naruto to an isolated childhood, social rejection, and an unchosen identity. This article critically analyzes this dilemma through Derek Parfit's concepts of Moral Mathematics and personal identity. Using a qualitative approach and close reading as a thought experiment, this study analyzes episodes 168 and 246–249 of Naruto Shippuden to test moral rationality. The results of the analysis show that Minato's actions reflect the moral miscalculation criticized by Parfit, because individual suffering is reduced to an instrument for collective benefit. Minato's actions also violate the limits of moral autonomy that should be inherent in every individual. These findings show that works of fiction can serve as a reflective space for moral philosophy.

Abstract

This study focuses on the identity and ideological orientation of two Islamic political parties, as well as their steps towards ideological moderation and specific electoral strategies within the political landscapes of two different countries. This is a library-based research that explores the identity of political Islam ideology in secular democracies, utilizing a combination of historical and political approaches. The sources include literature and writings about political Islam groups in Indonesia and Turkey, specifically PKS and AKP, derived from reputable books and scholarly articles. The study concludes that both PKS and AKP are moderate in ideology and politics. PKS, especially in post-New Order, transformed through moderation and inclusion, maintaining its Islamist identity while forming coalitions with nationalist parties for survival. Meanwhile, AKP combines moderate Islamism with conservative democracy, though Erdogan’s dominant leadership tends toward authoritarianism.
