Abstract

Ikan demersal merupakan salah satu sumber daya yang memiliki potensi sangat tinggi di Laut Arafura. Informasi indeks keanekaragaman ikan demersal diperlukan setelah adanya moratorium pukat tarik di Laut Arafura. Kegiatan penelitian dilaksanakan pada tanggal 20 Oktober sampai 20 November 2018 dengan mengikuti survei sumber daya ikan di Wilayah Pengelolaan Perikanan (WPP) 718 Laut Aru dan Arafura. Analisis data menggunakan beberapa nilai indeks biodiversitas meliputi keanekaragaman jenis (species diversity), kemerataan (species evenness),  kekayaan jenis (species richness), dan dominansi jenis (species dominant). Keanekaragaman jenis dibagi dalam 3 (tiga) wilayah penelitian yaitu Timur, Barat dan  Utara Laut Arafura. Indeks Keanekaragaman Shannon Wiener (H’) ikan demersal bervariasi antara 1,26 – 2,89. Nilai indeks kekayaan jenis ikan 9,37—16,8, indeks dominansi (D) antara 0,09-0,51. Indeks kemerataan jenis dari Pielou (E) Arafura bagian timur 0,13 dan utara dengan nilai 0,24 dan perairan Arafura bagian barat nilai indeks sebesar 0,27. Nilai indeks kemerataan jenis antara 0,26-0,50. Kondisi tersebut menunjukkan adanya keseimbangan dalam pemanfaatan sumber daya ikan demersal yang ada baik dari segi pemangsaan maupun secara spasial di Laut Arafura.Demersal fish is a resource that has very high potential in the Arafura Sea. Information on the diversity index of demersal fish is needed after the moratorium on trawling in the Arafura Sea. The research activity was carried out from 20 October to 20 November 2018 by participating in a survey of fish resources in the 718 Aru and Arafura Sea Fisheries Management Area (WPP). Data analysis used several biodiversity index values including species diversity, species evenness, species richness, and species dominance. Species diversity is divided into 3 (three) research areas, namely East, West and North Arafura Sea. The Shannon Wiener Diversity Index (H') of demersal fish varies between 1.26 – 2.89. Fish species richness index value is 9.37-16.8, dominance index (D) is between 0.09-0.51. The evenness index of Pielou (E) eastern Arafura is 0.13 and north is 0.24 and the Arafura waters is 0.27. The value of the species evenness index is between 0.26-0.50. This condition shows that there is a balance in the utilization of existing demersal fish resources, both feeding habits and  spatial in the Arafura Sea.

Abstract

Snappers (Lutjanus spp.) are the most common reef fish caught in Taka Bonerate National Park due to its high economic value and primarily targeted species. Without proper management measures, intensive fishing activities might result in unsustainable fish stocks. Therefore, in order to maintain sustainable utilization, it is important to understand the stock status of snapper fisheries. This study aimed to analyze the snappers' stock status in Taka Bonerate National Park's waters. Data were collected from January to December 2022 at three small-scale fisheries landing sites. The results showed that snappers are classified as slow-growing species with growth rates for species L. bohar, L. quinquelineatus, L. gibbus respectively 0,12, 0,39, and 0,35 per year to reach their respective asymptotic lengths of 83,41 cm, 29,5 cm, and 46,80 cm. The stock status of L. gibbus and L. bohar were indicated at overfished status where the exploitation rate (E) was > 0.5 and the SPR was < 0.3, hence a proper management measures is required. Furthermore, the species of L. quinquelineatus has a value of E is 0.5 and SPR is at 0.3, indicating that the utilization level of this species was at an optimal level. Abstract

Kepiting bakau merupakan komoditas ekspor yang penangkapannya dilakukan dengan intensif, salah satunya adalah jenis kepiting merah (Scylla olivacea). Pengelolaan dalam pengendalian memerlukan analisa kajian ilmiah tentang ukuran layak tangkap dan spawning potential ratio (SPR) kepiting merah. Kajian ilmiah ini dilakukan terhadap 1.105 ekor kepiting merah di pusat pendaratan kepiting di Desa Silo Baru Kecamatan Silau Laut Kabupaten Asahan, Sumatera Utara selama 28 bulan (April-Oktober 2018, Februari- Desember 2019 dan Maret-Desember 2020). Kepiting yang tertangkap memiliki ukuran 65-170 mm dengan 72,2% sudah dewasa dan telah melakukan pemijahan sebelum tertangkap (CWc< CWm). Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa kematian akibat penangkapan (F) lebih tinggi dibandingkan kematian alamiah (M), hal ini menunjukkan tingginya tekanan pemanfaatan (E = 0,54%). Nilai spawning potential ratio (SPR) mengalami peningkatan dari tahun 2018 ke tahun 2020 yaitu 11-17% namun masih dibawah nilai minimal 20%, artinya penambahan individu kepiting merah di perairan Asahan setelah ekspolitasi sudah mengalami penurunan sehingga diperlukan upaya dalam pengelolaan. Upaya yang dapat dilakukan adalah dengan meningkatkan ukuran mesh size jaring dan bubu serta rehabilitasi hutan mangrove.Mud crabs are export commodities that have been harvested intensively; one of which is the red mud crab (Scylla olivacea). Management in controlling its exploitation requires scientific studies on the analysis of the legal size and the potential spawning ratio (SPR) of the crab. In this scientific study, a total of 1,105 red mud crabs were analyzed at the crab landing center in Silo Baru Village, Silau Laut District, Asahan Regency, North Sumatra for 28 months (April–October 2018, February–December 2019, and March–December 2020). The crabs caught were 65–170 mm in size, where 72.2% of which were already adults and had spawned before being caught (CWc < CWm). The results of this study suggested that the fishing mortality (F) was higher than the natural mortality (M), indicating a high exploitation (E = 0.54%). On the other hand, the potential spawning ratio (SPR) from 2018 to 2020 kept increasing, i.e. 11–17% (below the minimum SPR 20%), indicating that the addition of the individual red mud crabs in Asahan waters after exploitation had decreased. Therefore, several efforts are necessary in its management, among others by increasing the mesh size of the nets and the size of the traps as well as rehabilitating mangrove forests.
