Abstract

This study aims to develop a feasible and effective e-learning chemistry book integrated with Sasak’s local wisdom to enhance students’ science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills. The research adopts a development approach utilizing the ADDIE model include analysis, design, development, evaluation and implementation. Product trial on chemistry education students at UIN Mataram employing a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test control group design. The study reveals that the e-learning chemistry book, integrated with Sasak local wisdom, achieves an Aiken’s validity coefficient of 0.890, an intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) value of 0.810, and a Cronbach’s alpha reliability value of 0.875. Furthermore, the results of the independent sample T-test indicate a significance value of 0.01, which is less than α (0.05), affirming that the e-learning chemistry book integrated with Sasak local wisdom meets valid and reliable criteria and is declared effective in enhancing students’ STEM skills

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of the use of modeling methods on students' motivation and learning outcomes in Chemistry at MA Darul Aminin NW Aikmual. The sampling technique used is a nonprobability sampling technique in the form of saturated sampling. The approach used is a quantitative approach, with a quasi-experimental type and a research design that is nonequivalent control group design with a pretest-posttest type. Based on the analysis of the N-Gain motivational score, the experimental class was 24.6251 (not effective), and the control class was 14.7795 (ineffective). Then, the N-Gain score of learning outcomes in the experimental class was 63.9940 (quite effective), and in the control class it was 46.0750 (less effective). Based on the hypothesis test, it can be concluded as follows, (1) there is no effect of the modeling method on students' motivation to learn chemistry at MA Darul Aminin NW Aikmual as evidenced by a sig value of 0.117 > 0.05, (2) there is an effect of the modeling method on students' chemistry learning outcomes at MA Darul Aminin NW Aikmual is proven by a sig value of 0.000 <0.05, and (3) the influence of the modeling method on students' motivation and learning outcomes in chemistry at MA Darul Aminin NW Aikmual is proven by a sig value of 0.000 <0.05.

Abstract

Pemanfaatan teknologi sebagai media pembelajaran dapat mempermudah siswa untuk belajar, guru dapat lebih efektif dan efisien dalam membuat dan menyampaikan materi, memperbaiki kualitas guru serta meningkatkan mutu pendidikan. Dengan demikian, diperlukan media pembelajaran yang mampu mengembangkan kompetensi abad 21 agar siswa mampu memahami materi secara konkret dan mengembangkan keterampilan berpikir siswa, sehingga mereka mampu berpikir kompleks dan memiliki keterampilan berpikir tingkat tinggi. Media yang tepat digunakan dalam pembelajaran adalah multimedia interaktif. Tujuan Pengabdian adalah sebagai upaya edukasi bagi guru dalam meningkatkan keterampilan guru dalam membuat dan menggunakan multimedia interaktif yang berbasis kompetensi abad 21 sebagai media pembelajaran sehingga kualitas pembelajaran dapat meningkat. Hasil yang diperoleh dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah adanya peningkatan keterampilan guru-guru MA Al-Ishlahuddiny dalam mendesain dan menggunakan multimedia interaktif sebagai media pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil angket diketahui respon guru terhadap kegiatan pendampingan sangat positif, rata-rata menjawab sangat setuju dan setuju.

Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of developing an effective and feasible e-learning-based chemistry textbook intended to enhance students’ critical thinking abilities. The development process adhered to the ADDIE model, providing a systematic framework for the design of educational materials. Participants in the study consisted of first-semester chemistry education students at the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training, UIN Mataram. Data were collected using both test and non-test instruments. Non-test instruments were employed to evaluate the feasibility of the e-learning-based chemistry textbook, whereas test instruments were used to measure students’ critical thinking skills. The study was carried out in two primary stages: validation of the product and trials involving chemistry education students at UIN Mataram. For the trials, a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test/post-test control group was implemented. The results of the study led to the following conclusions: (1) The developed e-learning chemistry textbook attained validity scores ranging from 0.857 to 0.905, classifying it as very high, with a reliability coefficient of 0.865. These results indicate that the textbook is valid and reliable for use in Basic Chemistry courses at the tertiary level. (2) Analysis using an independent samples t-test revealed a significance value of 0.018, below the alpha threshold of 0.05, confirming that the e-learning chemistry textbook is effective in improving students’ critical thinking skills. Overall, the findings demonstrate that the developed e-learning-based chemistry textbook is both valid and reliable, and it effectively enhances students’ critical thinking abilities.
