Abstract

This study aims to identify the indicators of romantic love, describe how romantic love is reflected, and explain why these elements are exposed in the film Little Women (2019) from a philosophical perspective. The research focuses on the emotional relationships within the March family, encompassing love, togetherness, sacrifice, and freedom among the sisters in various relationship dynamics. The study identifies six key elements of romanticism: love as an expression of deep emotion, freedom in love, the sublimity of love through nature, love as a process of self-discovery, tragic and unrequited love, and sacrifice in love. These elements are elaborated through the analysis of the main characters' interactions, such as Jo, Laurie, Meg, and Amy, which reflect the complexity of human emotions. The findings reveal that love in this film is a transformational experience, involving not only happiness but also sacrifice, freedom, and emotional journeys in self-discovery. This study provides new insights into how elements of romanticism enrich family dynamics and emotional values, making the film a significant subject for further exploration within the context of romanticism philosophy.

Abstract

This study examines the reflection of Albert Camus' concept of absurdity in The Half of It, a movie directed by Alice Wu. Through qualitative and descriptive analysis, the research explores the intersection of existential philosophy with contemporary narratives, focusing on the protagonist, Ellie Chu. This study employs thematic and narrative analysis to identify and interpret elements in the movie that reflect absurdism, providing a fresh perspective on the application of Camus' ideas to modern storytelling. Camus’ theory of absurdity, characterized by alienation, the tension between the search for meaning and the indifference of the world, and the act of rebellion, is illustrated in Ellie’s journey. Her experiences include navigating cultural alienation as the only Chinese student in a small town, grappling with her identity and unreciprocated love, and reconciling personal desires with societal expectations. The findings contribute to literary and cultural studies by highlighting how Camus’ absurdity resonates in contemporary narratives, particularly those exploring identity, alienation, the immigrant and LGBTQ+ experience. By analyzing the interplay between philosophical concepts and cinematic representation, the study sheds light on the relevance of absurdism in understanding human struggles within the complexities of modern life

Abstract

This research analyzed Leonard Dekkom’s attempt to gain power in the film Geostorm (2017) through Machiavelli’s perspective. This research aims to see how Machiavelli’s theory applies to the actions taken by Leonard Dekkom, the strategies used, and the motivations behind the sabotage of the Dutch Boy system. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method, collecting data through film analysis of scenes and dialogue to relate the findings. The results of this study show that Leonard Dekkom reflects Machiavellian traits, such as manipulation, cunning strategies, and tactics that override moral values to achieve his personal ambitions. Success in achieving power in politics prioritizes the goal over morality, such as Leonard Dekkom’s sabotage. This study concludes that Leonard Dekkom reflects the complexity of power politics, which is in line with Machiavelli’s thinking that prioritizes strategy and ambition over moral values.

Abstract

Memoar sebagai wujud untuk mengekspresikan kenangan peristiwa atau pengalaman hidup di masa lampau. Wujud ungkapan kenangan direalisasikan dalam bentuk variasi kalimat di memoar. Tujuan penelitian ini mengidentifikasi adanya variasi kalimat yang ditulis para memoaris. Sumber data penelitian ini diambil dari buku memoar yang berjudul Memoar menjadi Pegiat Literasi sebanyak 10 pegiat literasi Indonesia. Teknik simak dan catat digunakan untuk pengumpulan data. Triangulasi teori dipakai sebagai validitas data. Metode yang digunakan untuk teknik analisis data yaitu agih, padan dan permutasi. Kalimat berdasarkan struktur gramatikal di dalam memoar ditetapkan dengan metode agih yang menggunakan teknik bagi unsur langsung. Metode padan dengan padan referensial. Metode permutasi dengan penyusunan kalimat kembali menjadi kalimat berpola. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pertama, variasi struktur kalimat memoaris terdiri atas #S-P#, #S-P,Pel#, #S-P-O#, #S-P-O-Pel#, #S-P-K#, #S-P-K-Pel#, #S-P-O-K#, dan #S-P-O-K-Pel#. Kedua, penanda kalimat meliputi penanda P (tindakan yang lampau), keterangan waktu, dan tidak berpenanda.

Abstract

Contextual teaching is a contextual teaching learning, namely learning that helps lecturers in relating the material being taught to students' real-world situations and encourages students to make connection between their knowledge and its application to their daily lives. This involves seven main components of effective learning, namely; constructivism, questioning, inquiry, learning community, modeling, reflection and authentic assessment n English Education students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta. This research was carried out at Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta in approximately four months from August 2021 to November 2021. The subjects of this study were students of the first semester of Sentence Building. Research data sources are from lecturers and students. The data are texts of the assignments and tests and the results of analysis answers. Data were collected through the collection of tasks and tests, and observations, then validated using triangulation of methods and data sources. The data analysis technique uses a calculation formula. The data of the impact of the implementation are analyzed by describing and presenting. The use of contextual analysis improves students' understanding. The results obtained were as many as 20 students scored above 70 or 76.92% and 6 students achieved standard indicator scores or about 23%. This achievement had met the criteria for indicators of success (70%). as much as 1.15% and the number of students who managed to increase by 7%Keywords: Sharia Compliance, BPRS, pandemic covid-19, murabaha

Abstract

This research explains the harmonious relationship between the school principal, the school itself, and the community at SD IT Muhammadiyah Pangkalan Kerinci. The study aims to identify the strategies employed by the school principal in building harmonious relationship with the community. This research employs a qualitative descriptive method and an educational sociology approach. Data collection involves interviews, observations, and documentation. The research finding indicates that the school principal has successfully formulated effective strategies to build a harmonious relationship with the community through 1. Making collaboration the cornerstone of the principal's strategy, 2. Involving parents, teachers, and the community, 3. Mobilize the active role of teachers in strategic planning, and 4. Listen and create a positive learning environment.  This study provides a profound understanding of the importance of a harmonious relationship between the school and the community in enhancing educational quality, as well as the pivotal role of the school principal in creating a positive educational environment.

Abstract

This study is an attempt to discuss (1) what Hinduism is. (2) what the concept of reincarnation is.(3) what aspects of Hinduism reflected in Poe’s tales “Ligeia” and “Morella”. This study used American Studies theory that is the reconciliation of time (past, present, future), of space and of academic disciplines that are philosophical, historical, and literary approaches. The literary approach used, in this case, is the expressive one. The method applied in this study is analytical descriptive that utilizes library research and concentrates the attention on reference sources related to the topic discussed. The Result of the study shows that there are the aspects of Hinduism namely the wandering spirit and the reincarnation. In Poe’s tales, “Ligeia” and “Morella” the wandering spirit happens when they died. Ligeia, the main character reincarnate into Rowena and Rowena becomes Ligeia again. Morella reincarnates into her baby, Morella. It is the same name.
