Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) learning models on students' science process skills on the coordination system concept. This research was carried out in SMA Negeri 9 Tangerang Selatan in the 2017/2018 school year. This research method is quasi-experimental with nonequivalent control group design. Sampling using purposive sampling technique. The study sample consisted of 73 students:  37 experimental group and 36 control group. The research instrument used is a test of science process skills in the form of a description test and observation sheet. The results of data analysis of students' science process skills using ANACOVA, showed that there were significant differences between the experimental and the control group. This shows that there was an effect of the application of the POE (Predict-Observe-Explain) learning model on students' science process skills on the concept of coordination system.

Abstract

Abstract This research aims to know the influence of contextual teaching and learning (CTL) combined with peer tutoring toward learning achievement on human digestive system concept. This research was conducted at one of State Senior High School in South Tangerang in the academic year of 2016/2017. The research method was quasi experiment with nonequivalent pretest-postest control group design. The sample was taken by simple random sampling. The total of the sampels were 86 students which consisted of 44 students as a controlled group and 42 students as an experimental group. The research instrument was objective test which consisted of 25 multiple choice items of each pretest and posttest. The research also used observation sheets for teacher and students activity. The result of data analysis using t-test on the two groups show that the value of tcount was 2.40 and ttable was 1.99 on significant level α = 0,05, so that tcount > ttable.. This result indicated that there was influence of contextual teaching and learning (CTL) combined with peer tutoring toward learning achievement on human digestive system concept.Keywords: Contextual Teaching and Learning, Peer Tutoring, Learning Achievement, Human Digestive System

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes with the use of Project Based Learning (PjBL) model on the concept of environmental pollution. The research method used was Classroom-based Action Research (CAR) with data collection techniques in the form of learning result test, observation sheet, and field notes. This research was a research conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of planning, implementing, observing, and reflecting. The subjects of the study were the students of class X MIPA 1 SMAN 9 Tangerang Selatan in academic year 2016/2017 with the number of students was 38. The research instruments used were test and non-test instrument. Instrument test was in the form of multiple choices (30 questions), while the non-test instruments were in the form of observation sheets and field notes. The data analysis technique was by using N-gain test. The result of this research showed that the improvement of learning outcome in the concept of environmental pollution with the use of learning model based learning (PjBL) in each cycle was 47.37% in the cycle I, and 94.73% in the cycle II. The learning activity of the students showed the increase of activity with the use of learning model Project based learning (PjBL) in the cycle which was 72% in cycle I, and 78% in cycle II. The result of N-gain analysis showed the increase of N-gain from pretest to posttest in which the average of N-gain value in cycle was 0.32 in cycle I and 0.53 in cycle II. Thus it can be concluded that there is influence from the application of the model of Project Based Learning (PjBL) to improve student learning outcomes on the concept of environmental pollution.

Abstract

Rendahnya minat baca anak dan terbatasnya pemanfaatan teknologi digital oleh pelaku UMKM masih menjadi tantangan utama dalam upaya peningkatan literasi dan pemberdayaan ekonomi masyarakat pedesaan. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi efektivitas program pemberdayaan masyarakat Desa Cirompang melalui integrasi literasi hijau, optimalisasi pojok baca, dan digitalisasi UMKM dengan pendekatan partisipatif. Metode yang digunakan meliputi observasi, wawancara, pelaksanaan program terintegrasi dalam kegiatan Pengenalan Lapangan Persekolahan (PLP), serta evaluasi menggunakan angket skala Likert. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan bahwa program literasi hijau memperoleh respons sangat positif dengan nilai rata-rata 3,33 (skala 4), sedangkan optimalisasi pojok baca dan pelatihan QRIS masing-masing memperoleh nilai rata-rata 4,50 dan 4,38 (skala 5). Sementara itu, pelatihan pembuatan online shop menunjukkan hasil yang relatif rendah dengan nilai rata-rata 2,52 akibat keterbatasan infrastruktur. Temuan ini menunjukkan bahwa pendekatan partisipatif terpadu berpotensi memperkuat kapasitas masyarakat desa menuju kemandirian yang berkelanjutan

Abstract

Science process skills (SPS) play a crucial role in fostering students' scientific reasoning, inquiry abilities, and conceptual understanding in biology. However, SPS development can be inconsistent across indicators, largely due to variations in instructional practices and learning environments. This study examined students’ SPS within the context of the digestive system topic and identified the factors that influence their development. The researchers used a cross-sectional survey design involving 114 Grade 11 science students from three public schools in South Tangerang City, Indonesia, selected through purposive sampling. The researchers collect data through SPS tests and teacher interviews and analyze it descriptively using percentage scores and performance categories. The results showed that overall SPS achievement was in the good category (77%). Performance varies across indicators: predicting (89%), questioning (88%), and hypothesizing (85%) fall into the very good category; classifying (68%) and interpreting (71%) fall into the good category; and communicating (60%) emerges as the weakest indicator. Interviews with teachers indicated that the limited application of inquiry-based learning, coupled with restricted instructional time, has led to inconsistent development of students' Scientific Process Skills (SPS). These findings underscore the considerable impact that instructional design and classroom practices have on SPS outcomes. Therefore, educators need to apply more structured inquiry-based learning and provide explicit training in scientific communication and data interpretation to achieve balanced SPS development.
