Abstract

Light is one of external stimulations affecting the plant’s movements and causing different responses. The time of opening and closing of plant organs caused by light stimulation are different. The aim of this research was to determine the opening and closing time of Portulaca grandiflora’s flower, Sesbania grandiflora’s and Cassia alata’s leaves. The study was conducted in Madiun and Trenggalek, East Java in November 2020 using field survey and observation. The survey was carried out to obtain sample plants, while observations were to observe the opening and closing time of leaves or flower in the sample plants. The observations were carried out at 04.00 to 19.00 every 15 minutes to analyze the time range of opening and closing of flower and leaves. The opening time of Portulaca grandiflora’s flower and the Sesbania grandiflora’s leaves were almost the same, around 09.00 to 10.30. Meanwhile, the Portulaca grandiflora’s flower began to close at almost the same time as the Cassia alata’s leaves, which only 45 minutes of difference (10.45 and 10.00 respectively). The opening and closing of plant organs were influenced by light stimulation with variation time.

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a global health concern, necessitating effective management to prevent complications. Pharmacists, as accessible healthcare professionals, can play a pivotal role in patient education and self-management support. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of pharmacist-led education and booklets on glycemic control and self-management behaviors in patients with T2DM. A quasi-experimental study was conducted at a hospital in Central Java, Indonesia. Patients diagnosed with T2DM for at least six months were recruited. The intervention group received pharmacist-led education and a booklet, while the control group received standard care. Fasting blood glucose (FBG) and self-management behaviors were assessed at baseline and after three months. The intervention group demonstrated a significant reduction in FBG levels compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Additionally, the intervention group showed improvements in self-management behaviors, including medication adherence, dietary control, and physical activity. Pharmacist-led education and booklets are effective in improving glycemic control and self-management behaviors in patients with T2DM. This intervention can be integrated into routine diabetes care to enhance patient outcomes.

Abstract

Faltering growth is characterized by slow weight gain in early childhood, often the root cause of stunting in developing countries. In Indonesia, the stunting rate in toddlers reaches 24%, with high prevalence also recorded in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). The leading causes of stunted growth include inadequate nutritional intake and infection, which impact children's physical and cognitive development. Early intervention through nutrition education is essential to prevent long-term impacts. Through education and leaflet media, this community service program aims to improve mothers' knowledge about locally-based MPASI at the Pringgarata Health Center. This program takes place in three stages—preparation, implementation, and evaluation—with 20 participants consisting of mothers and community leaders. The evaluation results showed a significant increase in mothers' knowledge from 30% to 85% after education, stating that this approach effectively improves understanding and potentially prevents faltering growth.

Abstract

Diabetes adalah penyakit kronis yang kompleks dan membutuhkan perawatan medis secara berkelanjutan dengan tujuan mengurangi resiko komplikasi dengan cara melakukan kontrol glikemik. Pengelolaan Diabetes Mellitus tipe 2 sebagai penyakit kronis membutuhkan penanganan secara multidisiplin yang mencakup terapi non-obat dan terapi obat. Edukasi sebagai terapi non obat kepada pasien diabetes dapat meningkatkan manajemen diri pasien. Apoteker sebagai tenaga kesehatan pengaruh dalam keberhasilan terapi pasien DM. Desain yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Narrative Literature Review. Pencarian literatur yang digunakan dalam kurun waktu 2013-2023. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah edukasi oleh apoteker dapat meningkatkan keberhasilan terapi DMT2 dengan monitoring terapi yang dilakukan dan menjaga pola hidup sehat sehingga dapat menurunkan kadar glukosa darah.
