Abstract

The development of the modern age is a lot of changes in education is the paradigm of teacher-centered learninginto student-centered learning which has a very important role in maximizing its competence in classroom management. One of the lessons in chemistry education that has problems is organic chemistry courses. Based onthe reflections applied to teachers and students "What has been gained from the learning process?", "What is thevalue obtained while the process is underway?" And "What will be done next (implementation)?". The results arestill very unsatisfactory, this is due to the limited ability of lecturers in the learning process. Associated with these conditions, then of course required intensive changes and planned for comprehensive improvement associated with the input to be generated. Efforts to be made is to improve the paradigm of learning. The selected learning paradigm is Reflective Pedagogy Paradigm (PPR). Reflective Pedagogy Paradigm was chosen because based on the results of research can improve the performance of lecturers in teaching, improve the readiness of lecturers in teaching, and make students able to reflect the learning process, and students become more active. The research was conducted following a workshop with lecturers who have implemented Reflective Pedagogy at Sanata Dharma University Yogyakarta. Stages in Reflective Pedagogy are context, experience, reflection, action and evaluation. It is expected by the end of two meetings. To be able to apply PPR, a lecturer needs to be equipped with special training on PPR-based teaching strategies as well asreflection skills (ICAJE, 1993, Gwaza et al., 2010; Schaub-de Jong dkk.2011; Wijoyo et al., 2016). Based on the results of the teacher reflection, it is increasingly realized that the preparation of learningis very important, and it is realized. While based on the results of reflection students stated that the purpose oflearning is clear, the material relevant to the profession of students, and understanding of the material becomeseasier, and the moral values for students. This case study is also in line with previous research that John Dewey(1933), He argued that learning from experience is enriched by reflecting on experience and Donald A. Schön (1987) theorized that reflective practice represents an important factor to improve professional activity. Jack Mezirow, (1991, 2000) gives reflection a central role in learning because through it we become aware of the ways in which we interpret reality and give meaning to actions and behavior. Writing-to-learn tasks should encourage students to conceptualize writing in a way that emphasizes exploration, expressive inquiry, discovery, problem-solving, decision making and knowledge construction.Key Word: Reflective Pedagogy Paradigm, case study, Organic Subject

Abstract

Abstract

A Community Service Program (PkM / Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat) have been carried out named “The Utilization of Family Medicinal Plants (TOGA / Tanaman Obat Keluarga) among Mothers in Nglanggeran Village, Patuk District, Gunung Kidul Regency, D.I. Yogyakarta”. This PkM activity aims to provide information to the Women Farmers Group (KWT / Kelompok Wanita Tani) in Nglanggeran Village about the benefits of family medicinal plants that can be planted around the house. This activity was carried out in May 2022. Education was carried out using the modified CBIA (Active Person Learning Method). The CBIA method facilitates participants to be active in learning the material through small group discussions led by a facilitator. The results of group discussions are written in working papers and presented to the plenary among groups. The results showed that: 1) participants still considered the use of herbs to have no side effects at all; 2) they are used to using popular medicinal plants to treat minor health complaints, such as crushed dadap leaves to treat fever, squeezed turmeric water for stomach pain, lime juice and soy sauce for cough medicine, and bay leaf decoction for gout. The mothers' response to holding this event was very enthusiastic, so it was necessary to carry out further activities in the form of training on TOGA processing to maintain family health.

Abstract

Phytopharmaca is a class of natural medicine that has the best level of safety. Research on phytopharmaca is needed to determine the public understanding of phytopharmaca. For this reason, educational videos and questionnaires were developed as a first step to starting intervention and assessment. This research method is research and development (Research and Development), with quantitative and qualitative approaches. Validation of the contents of the questionnaire is carried out by a validator, namely a lecturer who is considered an expert and experienced in the contents of the questionnaire. The results of the content validation test on the questionnaire instrument can already be declared valid by experts (expert judgment) in the fifth round because it has met the valid criteria. The language comprehension test validation was tested on 5 respondents who were considered to meet the same criteria as the research target. The results of the language comprehension test in the first round which was tested on five respondents were declared valid. The reliability test was carried out on 30 respondents who were considered to be able to represent the research target with the Cronbach Alpha value approach. The reliability test can be declared valid or reliable because each variable gets a Cronbach Alpha value > 0.60. Where the value of the knowledge variable is 0.689, the attitude variable is 0.809, and the action variable is 0.702. The validation of educational video in the study was tested on three validators, namely a doctor and two pharmacists. The video validation can be said to be valid because it gets an average validation value of > 3, which is 4.77, which is included in the very valid category. Based on the trial of questionnaires and educational videos on the development of phytopharmaceuticals in Indonesia, it can be declared valid and reliable. So it can be concluded that questionnaires and educational videos can be used as learning media for the development of public knowledge about phytopharmaca in Indonesia.

Abstract

Traditional medicine has long been used by the people of Yogyakarta, Indonesia as an alternative treatment to modern medicine. Various factors influence traditional medicine use, including psychological factors such as attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control. This research aims to determine the factors that influence the use of traditional medicine among the people of Yogyakarta Indonesia using the theory of planned behavior (TPB). This research was conducted using an analytical observational research design with a cross-sectional design. Data was collected from 110 respondents living in Yogyakarta who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The research instrument is a questionnaire that refers to the TPB construct which has been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis was carried out using logistic regression statistical tests and Pearson correlation tests. The results of the analysis show that attitudinal factors and perceived behavioral control partially contribute to the intention to use traditional medicine, while the subjective norm construct does not contribute. Attitudes and perceived behavioral control are important factors that influence the intention to use traditional medicine among Indonesian people. This suggests that interventions that focus on increasing positive attitudes and perceived behavioral control can increase the use of traditional medicine.

Abstract

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a global health concern, necessitating effective management to prevent complications. Pharmacists, as accessible healthcare professionals, can play a pivotal role in patient education and self-management support. This study aimed to evaluate the impact of pharmacist-led education and booklets on glycemic control and self-management behaviors in patients with T2DM. A quasi-experimental study was conducted at a hospital in Central Java, Indonesia. Patients diagnosed with T2DM for at least six months were recruited. The intervention group received pharmacist-led education and a booklet, while the control group received standard care. Fasting blood glucose (FBG) and self-management behaviors were assessed at baseline and after three months. The intervention group demonstrated a significant reduction in FBG levels compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Additionally, the intervention group showed improvements in self-management behaviors, including medication adherence, dietary control, and physical activity. Pharmacist-led education and booklets are effective in improving glycemic control and self-management behaviors in patients with T2DM. This intervention can be integrated into routine diabetes care to enhance patient outcomes.
