Abstract

This research aims to improve the identification of issues in plywood production at CV. Karya Purabaya. The inefficient production process leads to production times not meeting the standards, causing the company to often fail to fulfill orders on time. To implement improvements, the company needs to examine the production system comprehensively to pinpoint the issues in the production process. Value Stream Mapping (VSM) analysis, which is one of the Lean Manufacturing methods, is used to identify wasteful practices in the plywood production system. In identifying wasteful practices, Value Stream Analysis Tools (VALSAT) is utilized to identify connections and relationships between different wasteful practices. Waste Assessment Questionnaire (WAQ) is used to identify the most dominant waste, and Fishbone Diagram is employed to determine the root causes of the waste. Based on the results from the WAQ calculations, it was found that the most dominant waste is Overproduction with a percentage of 22.43%, followed by Inventory with a percentage of 20.40%. Furthermore, the WRM calculations reveal that inappropriate processing has a high percentage of 20.3%, and the value to Inventory has the highest percentage of 21.0%. The proposed improvements to minimize the most dominant waste at CV. Karya Purabaya include balancing the production process flow by implementing line balancing with an efficiency rate of 73,85%, conducting regular machine maintenance, making accurate planning and forecasting, and reducing defect.

Abstract

Improving engine performance can be done by making changes to the cylinder head to increase the volumetric efficiency. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of ported variations on the cylinder head against the engine performance which includes: airflow, torque, and power, generated by the ported variations on the inlet channel inside the standard cylinder head with the inlet port size of 21.50 mm. The ported variation 1 with a 23.50 mm inlet port diameter, and the ported variation 2 with an inlet port diameter of 25.50 mm. The research method used was an experimental method, carried out on a 4-stroke 110 cc motorcycle. The results obtained indicated the differences in the performance produced, such as airflow, torque, and power in the three variations of the inlet port. In the Cylinder head ported variation 1, the maximum air flow obtained was 30 cfm at 7 mm valve opening. The airflow increased by 3.59% against the standard cylinder head which obtained a maximum airflow of 28.8 cfm at the same valve opening. On the other hand, the cylinder head ported variation 2 obtained a maximum airflow of 27.6 cfm at the same valve opening. It means that the airflow decreased by 4.77% against the standard cylinder head. On ported variation 1 cylinder head, a maximum torque of 8.91 Nm was obtained at 4250 rpm, resulting in the torque increase of 2.49% against the standard cylinder head which obtains a maximum torque of 8.58 Nm at 4500 rpm. With the ported variation 2 cylinder head, maximum torque of 8.15 Nm was obtained at 5750 rpm rotation, which means that the torque decreased by -3.53% against the use of a standard cylinder head. With ported variation 1 cylinder head, maximum power of 7.49 HP was obtained at 7250 rpm and the power increased by 2.41% against the standard cylinder head, which obtained maximum power of 7.27 HP at 7500 rpm. While the ported variation 2 cylinder head, the maximum power obtained was 7.16 HP at 7500 rpm, meaning the decrease in power obtained by -2.76% against the standard cylinder head.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Variation of pulley rotational speed on the yield and cut of the multipurpose chopper aims to determine the optimum quality and quantity of chopping results. Testing using cassava and bananas. The diameter of the pulley used is 2 inches and the driven pulley is 6, 7, and 10 inches with a pulley speed of 467, 400, and 275 rpm. The result of bananas shows that the average chopping was 573, 864, and 864 grams, respectively with the spin pulley time being 46, 90, and 59 seconds. Meanwhile, for cassava, the results of chopping were 984, 995, and 823 grams, respectively with the spin pulley time being 23, 59, and 35 seconds, respectively. The optimum chopping quality for bananas used a pulley diameter of 10 inches and an optimum rotation time was 59 seconds. The optimum slicing quality for cassava uses a pulley diameter of 7 inches with an optimum rotation time was 59 seconds. The conclusion is that the diameter of the pulley affects the thickness of the sample, the time and speed of the pulley rotation, and the quality of the chopping results.
