Abstract

The library has the resources in the form of a library room that can be optimized to provide support to collaborative learning. Library as a public space open for anyone to come, move, and enjoy the facilities of library. Library room with the support of information and communication technology-enabled to support collaborative learning process. Limitations of classrooms available on formal and informal education supported by information and communication technologies to make the library into a public space that is appropriate as the choice of implementation of the learning process. The availability of private space in a library makes the library has the advantage not only of space and collaborative learning facilities, but also a pleasant experience for pemustaka. The library is a public space, also the private sphere that gives comfort pemustaka for collaborative learning both online and offl ine. The space is fl exible and responsive to the needs pemustaka become an important point in developing and optimizing the space available libraries.

Abstract

Peran perpustakaan perguruan tinggi semakin meluas. Hal ini seiring dengan perkembangan kebutuhan masyarakat akademis yang dilayani. Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi merupakan tiga pilar kegiatan di perguruan tinggi membutuhkan referensi serta keterampilan akses informasi dari berbagai aplikasi. Guna memenuhi kebutuhan tersebut, literasi informasi menjadi satu keterampilan akses informasi yang mendasar di perguruan tinggi. Keterampilan akses informasi dari berbagai sumber referensi serta berbagai aplikasi yang mendukung kegiatan pengajaran, penelitian, penulisan dan publikasi merupakan hal penting. Makalah ini membahas alasan mengapa literasi informasi penting diselenggarakan oleh perpustakaan perguruan tinggi di Indonesia. Alasan tersebut meliputi alasan sosialisasi sumber-sumber informasi, limpahan informasi, beragamnya aplikasi teknologi informasi yang mendukung pembelajaran serta peningkatan kualitas riset dan publikasi karya ilmiah.

Abstract

Penggunaan ruang perpustakaan oleh masyarakat ditengah-tengahperkembangan informasi dan perangkat teknologi informasi merupakansatu hal yang dipandang tidak menarik lagi. Dunia online seolah telahmengalihkan peran perpustakaan bagi masyarakat. Namun di sisi lainperpustakaan tetap berupaya untuk membuat dirinya menarik dan layakdikunjungi oleh masyarakat. Memberikan jam layanan yang lebih panjang,pilihan tempat duduk yang beragam, menyediakan akses WiFi yanglebih baik merupakan salah satu contoh upaya perpustakaan agar tetappantas sebagai satu tempat yang perlu didatangi oleh masyarakat. Padaperkembangan selanjutnya penggunaan ruang perpustakaan tidak hanyasebagai tempat belajar dan atau meminjam buku, namun lebih beragam.Tujuan kajian ini adalah mengetahui penggunaan ruang PerpustakaanUmum Kota Yogyakarta oleh masyarakat. Dipilihnya Perpustakaan KotaYogyakarta, karena Perpustakaan Kota Yogyakarta merupakan salah satujenis perpustakaan umum yang banyak melakukan inovasi untuk menarikpengunjung. Kajian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Pengumpulandata dilakukan dengan melakukan observasi selama sembilanbulan (Januari 2015- September 2015) di perpustakaan tersebut, sertawawancara dengan sejumlah informan. Hasil kajian menunjukkan bahwapemustaka menggunakan perpustakaan untuk tujuan menyelesaikantugas atau pekerjaan, meminjam buku, belajar berkelompok atau mandiri,menjadikan perpustakaan sebagai tempat janjian bertemu teman, sebagaitempat untuk dapat mengakses internet dan perpustakaan sebagai tempatmelakukan bimbingan atau tutorial.

Abstract

Services provided by the library need to be evaluated by users to improve their quality. This study aimed to determine the characteristics of users and the use of guidance services using reference sources at the Library of the Faculty of Geography, Gadjah Mada University, in August 2020-December 2022. These characteristics include service users, guidance themes, and reference sources used in guidance services. The quantitative descriptive method is used to answer research questions. The study results show that users of this service are dominated by student users, lecturers and education staff. Students who use this service are predominantly doctoral (S3) students. The most needed guidance themes are indexing databases, e-journals, and e-books. The next theme is using several applications, accessing library websites, using academic profiles, accessing journal websites, how to get ISBNs, identification of journals, and instructions for preparing scientific papers. The most widely used reference sources in guidance services are indexing databases (Scopus, Sinta, Garuda, and Directory Open Access Journal) and e-journal databases. Guidance on the use of applications needed is Mendeley, Turnitin, Grammarly, and VOSviewer applications. Users of guidance services on the use of reference sources need specific and in-depth guidance on reference sources, research support applications, library websites, academic profiles to increase knowledge dissemination, access to journal websites to submit articles, how to get International Standard Book Numbers, identify journals so they do not trap in predatory journals as well as guidance on writing scientific papers.

Abstract

Peneliti melakukan kajian kuantitatif terhadap perkembangan publikasi civitas akademika Universitas Gadjah Mada tahun 2021 berdasarkan sumber data Scopus. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui 1) perkembangan dokumen publikasi sivitas akademika Universitas Gadjah Mada, 2) jenis sumber media publikasi 3) dokumen yang paling banyak disitasi 4) penulis paling produktif dan 5) topik penelitian yang dilakukan pada tahun 2021. Pengumpulan data menggunakan afiliasi Universitas Gadjah Mada dengan nomor ID universitas 60069380 dan dilaksanakan pada tanggal 29 Maret 2022. Analisis data menggunakan hasil olah metadata pada aplikasi excel dan aplikasi VOSViewer. Hasil penelusuran diperoleh 3.056 dokumen sivitas akademika UGM dalam database Scopus tahun 2021.Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa dokumen publikasi yang terindeks Scopus yang dihasilkan oleh sivitas akademika UGM mengalami kenaikan signifikan pada tahun 2016, yakni mencapai 51,1%. Diakhir tahun 2021 capaian tertinggi mencapai 3.056 dokumen. Jenis sumber media publikasi didominasi oleh jurnal,  mencapai 2.073 dokumen, diikuti oleh prosiding, book series dan trade Journal. Jurnal yang paling banyak memuat dokumen sivitas akademika UGM adalah Jurnal Biodiversity. Sepanjang 2021 dokumen yang paling banyak disitasi adalah artikel yang berjudul “Spatial, temporal, and demographic patterns in prevalence of smoking tobacco use and attributable disease burden in 204 countries and territories, 1990–2019: a systematic analysis from the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019” yang dimuat pada jurnal The Lancet volume 397, issue 10292, pages 2337 – 2360, mencapai 41 sitasi, pada saat pengambilan data. Penulis paling produktif tahun 2021 adalah Rohman, A. Serta topik riset pada tahun 2021 didominasi oleh tema Covid-19.

Abstract

Problem Statement: One essential need of university library users is library support for their research activities. This role of library requires librarians who are in charge of this service to have certain specialized competencies. Purpose: This study aims to present an overview of research support services and identify the competencies required for librarians to effectively deliver these services. Method: This study employed a narrative review as its research method. The data was collected from the Scopus database using the keywords research support services, research services, and academic library. The search results found 21 documents. Result: The analysis of the 21 documents shows that research support services are essential and part of the library's responsibilities. Librarians are required to have additional competencies to offer these services, including knowledge, understanding, and skill in all research stages, information retrieval and strategies, various literature review types, bibliometric and data analysis tools, the publishing process, data visualization tools, reference management software, intellectual property rights, publication impact, presentations, and other research tools. Conclusion: Research support services are one of the domains of higher education libraries. Research support services must be further developed as they are essential for assisting users with their research. Providing these services requires librarians to have certain competencies. The results of this study are useful for libraries in preparing librarian competencies for the implementation of research support services.

Abstract

This bibliometric analysis aimed to determine the growth trend of document publications, the development of journal citations, the distribution of author countries, the most influential documents, and the dominant research topics in the Indonesian Journal of Geography from 2015 to 2022. The data used were extracted from the Scopus database, comprising a total of 280 documents. A bibliographic data mapping was conducted using the VOSviewer version 1.6.18 and Analyze Search Results tools on the Scopus database. The results showed that the number of documents published in the Indonesian Journal of Geography has been increasing over time. Furthermore, journal impact on scientific development has also increased. The authors of the documents included originate from 29 countries. The most influential document addressed the topic of urban research, while key topics developed from 2015 to 2022 included remote sensing and GIS used as main support and technology for understanding and analyzing various geographical phenomena. This research serves as a reference material for prospective authors and also provides an evaluation of Indonesian Journal of Geography in the future.Received: 2024-09-15 Revised: 2025-01-31 Accepted: 2025-03-19 Published: 2025-04-28

Abstract

ABSTRACT Research data and publications that have been carried out can be essential data in bibliometric analysis to determine the development of an institution’s publication profile. This study aims to analyze the research publication by geography lecturers at Gajah Mada University, indexed by Scopus in 1991-2021. This analysis includes the distribution of publications, types, sources of publication documents, the most prolific authors, collaborating affiliations, and trending publication themes. The research method used was a quantitative descriptive method by conducting a bibliometric analysis of the publication of the lecturers of the Faculty of Geography, Gadjah Mada University, indexed by Scopus. The findings showed that (a) there were 801 total publications, with an increase in the number of publications since 2014 (8 documents) and peaking in 2020 (218 documents); (b) the most published documents were conference papers (58.67%); (c) Most source documents from the IOP Conference Series Earth and Environmental Science; (d) Most lecturers collaborated with the Laboratoire de Géographie Physique; (e) The most productive lecturer was Marfai, M.A.; and (f) Research trends themed Worldview 2, Mapping, Remote Sensing, GIS, and Tsunami. It is necessary to increase the number of publications in academic journal, due to the publications are dominated in conference papers at present. ABSTRAKData penelitian dan publikasi yang sudah pernah dilakukan dapat menjadi data penting dalam analisis bibliometrik untuk mengetahui perkembangan profil publikasi suatu institusi. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis publikasi hasil penelitian dosen geografi Universitas Gajah Mada yang terindeks Scopus tahun 1991-2021. Analisis ini meliputi sebaran publikasi, tipe dan sumber dokumen publikasi, penulis yang paling produktif, afiliasi yang berkolaborasi, dan tren tema publikasinya. Metode penelitian menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan melakukan analisis bibliometrik terhadap data publikasi dosen Fakultas Geografi, Universitas Gadjah Mada yang terindeks Scopus. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (a) total publikasi ada 801, dengan peningkatan jumlah publikasi sejak tahun 2014 (8 dokumen) dan puncaknya pada 2020 (218 dokumen); (b) dokumen publikasi terbanyak dalam conference paper (58,67%); (c) Sumber dokumen terbanyak dari Iop Conference Series Earth and Environmental Science; (d) Kolaborasi dosen terbanyak dengan Laboratoire de Géographie Physique; (e) Dosen paling produktif adalah Marfai, M.A.; dan (f) Tren penelitian bertema Worldview-2, Mapping, Remote Sensing, GIS, dan Tsunami. Perlu peningkatan jumlah publikasi dalam bentuk jurnal, karena pada saat ini publikasi masih didominasi dalam bentuk conference paper.

Abstract

Abstract Problem Statement: Large-scale analysis at Gadjah Mada University (UGM), Indonesia, to assess students’ awareness and usage of Reference Management Software (RMS) in academic writing tools has been limited. Purpose: This study aimed to examine the extent to which postgraduate students at UGM are familiar with and use RMS in analysis and academic writing. Method: A descriptive survey method was applied using an online questionnaire distributed to postgraduate students at Faculty of Geography, UGM. Furthermore, a total of 52 valid responses were collected and analyzed. Results: The results showed that 94.2% (49) of students were aware of RMS, such as Mendeley, Zotero, and EndNote. The remaining 5.8% (3) were not aware of the existence of RMS. Mendeley was the most widely used, and out of the 49 students who were aware of the existence of RMS, only 2% or 1, did not adopt the application in scientific writing. The knowledge of the software was obtained from librarians or libraries in 44% of cases. Conclusion: Librarians play an important role in enhancing students’ ability to use RMS effectively. This study recommends that libraries continue to offer structured and periodic training programs to strengthen students’ productivity and digital literacy. The results contribute new insights into RMS adoption in Indonesian higher education and report the evolving role of librarians in supporting activities.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the strategy of developing collections in the E-Library of the University of Muhammadiyah Ponorogo in facing the digital era. The research method used is qualitative with data collection techniques through interviews with E-Library librarians of the University of Muhammadiyah Ponorogo. The results of the study show that University of Muhammadiyah Ponorogo E-Library implements various strategies in the development of digital collections, including: (1) analysis of user needs through surveys, (2) digital resources through consortiums, grants, and independent purchases, (3) collaboration with other parties such as universities and digital platform providers, (4) utilizing various platforms and software, (5) promotion of digital collections through various channels, and (6) continuous evaluation of the collection. This study concludes that the E-Library of the University of Muhammadiyah Ponorogo has a strong commitment to developing digital collections to meet the information needs of the academic community. Despite facing challenges such as budget limitations, the E-Library of the University of Muhammadiyah Ponorogo is able to take strategic steps to ensure the availability of relevant and quality information resources.
