Abstract

Komunikasi dan teknologi informasi telah berkembang pesat. Internet adalah salah satu penemuan terbesar dalam komunikasi dan teknologi informasi yang juga memberikan dampak besar bagi kehidupan manusia. Pada awalnya, pengguna internet dan masyarakat masih beranggapan bahwa internet merupakan bagian dari komunikasi dan ekspansi teknologi informasi, mereka berpikir "internet adalah sebuah alat bukan sebuah media". Hipotesis ini tidak menghilang ketika orang mulai menggunakan fasilitas internet, seperti email, chatting, dan browser untuk berkomunikasi. Faktanya, internet tidak hanya menjadi media penyimpanan alternative tetapi juga menciptakan pola-pola baru dalam komunikasi. Artikel ini akan berbagi tentang menggunakan internet dalam kajian komunikasi antarbudaya.AbstractCommunication and information technology was expanding incredibly. Internet is one of the biggest invention in communication and information technology equipment which also give a great impact to the human life. In the beginning of its apperance, internet user and society still consider that internet was part of communication and information technology expansion, they think "internet is a tools not a medium". This hypothesis was not vanished when people starts using internet facility, such as e-mail, chatting, and browser to communicate. In fact, internet became not only communication media alternative but also creating new patterns in communication. This article would like to share about the use of internet in the intercultural communication.

Abstract

Employees are one of the main wealth in an organization. How sophisticated the technology used, human resources still play a very decisive role. In a college, employees are identical with educational staff who are placed in each faculty and study program. Compared with other educational staff, administrative staff of study program are the most frequently communicating with students to obtain information related to lecturers, classes, and others. Each study program has at least one administrative staff, depending on the number of students. Communication between administrative staff and students is expected to be able to fulfil the information needs of students, this is determined by the performance of the administrative staff concerned. This research is expected to give the evaluation material regarding the performance of administrative staff placed in study program in order to fulfill the information needs of their students, especially in private university. Qualitative approach with case study method is used to answer these problems. In-depth interviews, non-participant observation, literature review, online data search, and documentation, are used as data collection techniques. Research showed that the administrative staff’s performance in order to fulfill the information needs of their students is determined by many things, internally from the person concerned, consisting of (1) Capacity to perform which related to the mastery of job description, skills, and intelligence; (2) Willingness to perform, related with motivation. satisfaction, participation (initiative), and work attitude. Externally determined by the opportunity to perform, such as equipment, coworkers, leaders, and students themselves. So this research contributes to organizational communication that takes place diagonally.

Abstract

The pandemic of Covid-19 caused the Indonesian government to issue regulations about the implementation of e-learning as a substitute for face-to-face learning. Zoom Cloud Meeting application is one of the e-learning media used in order to achieve students understanding in the midst of pandemic. The research was conducted through a qualitative approach with a case study in one of the department which has the largest number of students at Universitas Komputer Indonesia. Through the purposive technique, six research informants were obtained, consisting of quality assurance coordinator, lecturers and students involved in the learning process using Zoom Cloud Meeting application. Results showed that planning contained an overview of learning activities to be held with Zoom Cloud Meeting media as well as preparations made by lecturers and students. Implementation is the use of Zoom Cloud Meeting application as the media of e-learning to deliver learning materials, in the same way as face-to-face learning, consisting of lectures and discussions. Evaluation is related to technical barriers and the development of learning materials that should be adjusted to e-learning method through Zoom Cloud Meeting application. Researchers concluded, the use of Zoom Cloud Meeting application as the media of e-learning in general has successfully achieving students understanding in the midst of pandemic through various features that support the implementation of e-learning, this happens after all parties involved can adapt to the e-learning system. For that, it is necessary to conduct further research about the impact of e-learning in the improvement the learning quality of students. This research was conducted as part of e-learning development, although it cannot completely replace face-to-face learning but at least supports the learning process by utilizing technological advances so that students are more active and independent, because the learning process is no longer centered on lecturers.
