Abstract

Introduction: Candida albicans causes the second most frequent vaginal infection, vulvovaginal candidiasis (VVC). Bajakah Tampala is a natural plant of Kalimantan that has the potential to be used as a traditional remedy for various diseases. This study aims to determine the phytochemical content and antifungal potential of methanol and ethanol Bajakah Tampala stem extract against the growth of Candida albicans. Methods: Flavonoids, tannin, phenol, and saponin were identified through qualitative analysis of the phytochemical content. Different concentration of Bajakah Tampala methanol and ethanol extract (1.56%, 3.175%, 6.25%, 12.5%, 25%, 50%, and 100%) was tested for antifungal potency using dilution method. The extract that could inhibit the growth of Candida albicans colonies was continued with the concentration density (35%, 37.5%, 40%, 42.5%, 45%, 47.5%, and 50%) in order to determine the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and Minimum Killing Concentration (MKC) by counting the number of colonies. Results: The methanol extract of Bajakah Tampala contains flavonoids, tannins, phenol, and saponin. In contrast, no flavonoids were detected in the ethanol extract. Candida albicans colonies were not inhibited by concentrations of 1.56%, 3.125%, 6.25%, 12.5%, and 25% in ethanol and methanol extracts, respectively. At concentrations of 50% and 100%, methanol extract inhibits colony growth, but ethanol extract is still growing. The antifungal activity of methanol extract showed a MIC of 35% and a MKC of 47.5%, as measured by its concentration density. Conclusion: Flavonoids are present in the Bajakah Tampala methanol extract, which inhibits and kills the growth of Candida albicans but not ethanol.

Abstract

Stunting is a common occurrence, and one of the causes is pregnant women's nutritional state. The mother experiences nausea, vomiting, and a lack of appetite in the first trimester of pregnancy as a result of physiological changes, including an increase in hCG and modifications to glucose metabolism. One activity with a history of success in lowering anxiety problems is Kundalini Yoga. The design of this study is quasi-experimental with sampling techniques using total sampling. All 1st-trimester pregnant women in the Mancon Polindes work area were measured for nausea and vomiting using the PUQE-24 questionnaire. Kundalini yoga is given by researchers who have been supervised by certified yoga instructors. For individual training at home, pregnant women are given videos as a guide. Assessment will be carried out within 1 month. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics (t-test). The amount of nausea experienced by pregnant women in their first trimester differed significantly between the treatment group and the control group (p = 0.000, p0.05). Vomiting rates in the treatment group and the control group were significantly different after the Kundalini technique therapy (p = 0.000, p0.05).  Kundalini yoga is an effective strategy for reducing emesis gravidarum in pregnancy.

Abstract

Every woman hopes for a natural and painless delivery. The mother must make cautious preparations to have a pain-free, trauma-free delivery. It is possible to get ready for childbirth by making the woman physically and mentally prepared. To assist a pain-free delivery process, good physical health, a healthy uterus, and strong muscles in the birth canal are required. Prenatal gentle yoga is one method that pregnant women can prepare physically well. Prenatal yoga, also known as yoga for pregnant women, is a variation of hatha yoga tailored to the needs of expectant mothers and will help the mother's body adjust to the many changes that occur throughout pregnancy and childbirth. This study looked at the impact of prenatal gentle yoga on the length of the first stage of labor. This study is quantitative with an actual experiment, with simply a post-test. The participants in this study were all postpartum mothers who were part of a group of expectant women from various parts of Indonesia. A total of 40 participants from the study separate into two groups, the intervention group (consisting of 20 participants who practiced prenatal gentle yoga) and the control group. Prenatal gentle yoga and the length of the first stage, according to the results of data analysis using the Spearman rho test (p = 0.001, p < 0.05). This study's findings suggest mild prenatal yoga during pregnancy affects moms' first-stage labor duration. First stage duration is shorter in moms who practice prenatal gentle yoga, with an average that varies from 2 to 5 hours, compared to mothers who do not practice prenatal gentle yoga, with an average first stage duration of 8 to 10 hours.

Abstract

Emesis gravidarum is a discomfort that is often experienced by pregnant women in the first trimester. If not treated properly, emesis gravidarum can turn into a worse condition, namely hyperemesis gravidarum. Hyperemesis gravidarum has a negative impact on the mother and fetus. One of the therapies that is currently trending is the use of lemon aromatherapy. This study aims to carry out a systematic review of lemon aromatherapy on the nausea and vomiting scale. A search for English articles was conducted at Willey, ScienceDirect, EBSCO Host, and Google Scholar for the 2018–2022 period. Based on the systematic review conducted, there were four articles that met the criteria. The majority of the articles were conducted with pregnant women in their first trimester. The majority of nausea and vomiting scale assessments used the PUQE. The duration for giving lemon aromatherapy varies: every day for 2 weeks, twice a day for 1 week, twice a day for 3 days, and is unknown. Giving lemon aromatherapy can reduce the scale of nausea and vomiting in pregnant women with emesis gravidarum.

Abstract

Baby massage is a popular therapy that has been carried out for a long time, both in Indonesia and around the world. Baby massage improves the baby's sleep and quality, relaxes the baby, improves the baby's eating, and has many other benefits. The implementation of baby massage is influenced by various factors, such as parental factors, environment, and others. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the mother's attitude toward massaging her baby. This study is an analytical observational with a cross-sectional design. The sample used had 22 respondents. The research was conducted on December 12, 2022, in Mancon Village, Wilangan, Nganjuk. Fisher's exact test is used for data analysis. The results showed that there was a correlation between motivation and the mother's attitude toward massaging her baby (p = 0.032). These results are inversely proportional to the mother's education and knowledge that do not correlate with the mother's attitude toward massaging her baby (p=0.842; p=0.255). It can be concluded that motivation strongly and significantly influences the mother's attitude toward massaging her baby.

Abstract

Screening preschool children's growth and development can help detect deviations or delays early, allowing for timely intervention before the child experiences worsening conditions or permanent disorders. Developmental delays in children may include speech and language disorders, autism, and attention deficit disorder. Therefore, it is essential to conduct developmental screenings appropriate to the child's age. This community service program implemented developmental screening using the Developmental Pre-Screening Questionnaire (KPSP) instrument for early childhood at PAUD Anggrek, Surabaya. A total of 26 children participated in this screening activity. The screening results were categorized based on the KPSP assessment: 22 children (85%) were classified as age-appropriate, 3 children (11%) were classified as doubtful, and 1 child (4%) showed developmental deviations. During the evaluation process, each child received a report that was submitted to their PAUD teacher and parents. This report contained the results of the developmental evaluation along with recommendations for age-appropriate stimulation activities.
