Abstract

Emesis gravidarum is a discomfort that is often experienced by pregnant women in the first trimester. If not treated properly, emesis gravidarum can turn into a worse condition, namely hyperemesis gravidarum. Hyperemesis gravidarum has a negative impact on the mother and fetus. One of the therapies that is currently trending is the use of lemon aromatherapy. This study aims to carry out a systematic review of lemon aromatherapy on the nausea and vomiting scale. A search for English articles was conducted at Willey, ScienceDirect, EBSCO Host, and Google Scholar for the 2018–2022 period. Based on the systematic review conducted, there were four articles that met the criteria. The majority of the articles were conducted with pregnant women in their first trimester. The majority of nausea and vomiting scale assessments used the PUQE. The duration for giving lemon aromatherapy varies: every day for 2 weeks, twice a day for 1 week, twice a day for 3 days, and is unknown. Giving lemon aromatherapy can reduce the scale of nausea and vomiting in pregnant women with emesis gravidarum.

Abstract

Baby massage is a popular therapy that has been carried out for a long time, both in Indonesia and around the world. Baby massage improves the baby's sleep and quality, relaxes the baby, improves the baby's eating, and has many other benefits. The implementation of baby massage is influenced by various factors, such as parental factors, environment, and others. This study aims to determine the factors that influence the mother's attitude toward massaging her baby. This study is an analytical observational with a cross-sectional design. The sample used had 22 respondents. The research was conducted on December 12, 2022, in Mancon Village, Wilangan, Nganjuk. Fisher's exact test is used for data analysis. The results showed that there was a correlation between motivation and the mother's attitude toward massaging her baby (p = 0.032). These results are inversely proportional to the mother's education and knowledge that do not correlate with the mother's attitude toward massaging her baby (p=0.842; p=0.255). It can be concluded that motivation strongly and significantly influences the mother's attitude toward massaging her baby.

Abstract

Background: The postpartum period is a period of adaptation that is quite difficult for a mother. Various complaints can arise during the postpartum period, both physical and psychological complaints. Postpartum hormonal changes and adaptation to a new role as a mother often cause mothers to experience changes in mood, and become easily sad and sensitive. These symptoms are usually called postpartum blues. The still high rate of postpartum blues in the world, namely 70-80%, and the rate of postpartum blues in Indonesia, namely 60-70%, shows that the mental health problems of postpartum mothers require special attention. The results of a preliminary study at the Mrican Community Health Center, Kediri City, showed that 70% of 52 postpartum mothers (36 respondents) experienced anxiety during the postpartum period. In Indonesia, postpartum blues is still considered normal and does not require special treatment, even though this problem has a high impact on the welfare of postpartum mothers and their babies. Objectives: The aim of this research is to determine the effectiveness of the Nareswari method (Breathing, Relaxation, and Coloring) in reducing the anxiety level of postpartum mothers as an effort to prevent cases of postpartum blues. The Nareswari method is a combination of hypnobreastfeeding techniques and coloring therapy (coloring). Methods: This type of research is observational analytical experimental research with a case-control approach with two group pretest and post-test. The independent variables are hypnobreastfeeding and coloring hypnosis. The dependent variable is the level of anxiety of postpartum mothers and the number of samples in this study was 50 respondents. Results: The results of statistical tests show a significant difference between the level of anxiety in the treatment group and the control group (p-value = 0.0000 < α value 0.05).Conclusions: The Nareswari method is effective in reducing anxiety levels in postpartum mothers. There was a significant reduction in anxiety levels after postpartum mothers routinely used this method for one month.

Abstract

Pregnant women in the third trimester experience physical and psychological changes. This condition causes pregnant women to experience discomfort such as sleep disturbances. One way to overcome this condition is by doing prenatal yoga. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of prenatal yoga in improving the sleep quality of pregnant women in the third trimester. This research uses a Quasi Experimental method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The sample in this study consisted of 30 pregnant women in the third trimester using a purposive sampling technique. This research was carried out in March-May 2023. Data was collected by observation and analyzed using non-parametric tests. Univariate analysis results showed that the average sleep quality was before (mean = 9.20 and SD = 1.476) and after (mean = 5 and SD = 0.816). Bivariate analysis results showed that there was an effect of prenatal yoga on improving sleep quality in third trimester pregnant women with a Z value = 2.871 and p value = 0.004. So, it can be concluded that there is an influence of prenatal yoga on improving sleep quality in third trimester pregnant women.

Abstract

Anxiety, frequent urination, back pain, swollen feet, shortness of breath, and groin ache are just a few of the physical and mental changes that a pregnant woman may encounter. Yoga during pregnancy can help women feel less uncomfortable. To avoid trauma and ensure that the yoga poses are performed correctly, pregnant women who practice pregnancy yoga must be accompanied by a qualified facilitator. Thus, the purpose of this community service project was to improve midwives' prenatal yoga knowledge and proficiency. It is intended that by organizing this community service event, midwives would be able to assist in the local adoption of prenatal yoga. In order to complete this community service project, 23 midwives received training at the Comoro Health Centre in Dili, Timor Leste. The training took place from May 6 to 8, 2024 and was implemented in cooperation with the Comoro Health Centre. Activity technique: The midwife completes a form with multiple prenatal yoga-related questions before receiving the material (pre-test). Then, the material is provided, and prenatal yoga practice continues. Finally, the training participants are given additional questions (post-test) to determine whether their understanding of the prenatal yoga material has increased. Zoom media is used to do community service projects online. Results: A p value of 0.001 < 0.05 was achieved from the Wilcoxon statistical test used to measure pre and post knowledge levels. In summary: Midwives' understanding of prenatal yoga is effectively increased through community service that offers health education. Following the completion of this service, it is anticipated that the Comoro Health Center's midwives would be able to use the knowledge they have acquired to assist pregnant patients in their workplace.
