Abstract

Based on the need’s analysis done, the empowerment of higher-order cognitive skills of the students in Surakarta was not optimal yet. This research addressed to determine and describe the feasibility of biology module which was arranged based on Stimulating Higher-Order Thinking Skills (Stim-HOTS) model. This Research and Development (R&D) involved six expert validators, including material validator, module development validator, language validator, learning instrument validator, and school practitioners. The results showed that the percentages of the module feasibility were between 83% and 98% which were categorized as very good. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be implied that the Stim-HOTS-based module can be used as learning resource.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to increase higher order of student’s question through problem based learning at conceptual dimension in biology learning. Population of this research was students at grade X IIS 4 of SMA Negeri 5 Surakarta. The research was four-cycles action research that conducted in academic year 2014/2015. Data were collected through observation, interview and video recording. Student’s question collected by counting the number of questions during the learning process and categorized based on revised Bloom’s Taxonomy. Higher order question include C4, C5 and C6 question. The result of this research shows: 1) C4 and C6 of conceptual question was identified in each cycles. C5 of conceptual question was identified in the first and  third cycles; 2) the number of C4 conceptual question is 0% at pra cyles, 2.52% at first cycles, 6.06% at second cycles, 3.53% at third cycles, 6.57% at fourth cycles. The number of C5 conceptual question is 0% at pra cycles and 0.5% at first and third cycles. The number of C6 conceptual question is 0% at first cycles, 17.68% at first cycles, 8.08% at second cycles, 19.19% at third cycles and 35.35% at fourth cycles; 3) The higherest number of HOT’s question that identified was C6 question. The conclusion of this research is PBL effectively increased the higher order of student’s questions at conceptual dimension. Keywords: higher order of student’s question, problem based learning

Abstract

Pembelajaran merupakan sebuah sistem yang kompleks dengan komponen yang saling berkaitan. Banyak faktor yang mempengaruhi keberhasilan pembelajaran salah satunya adalah kompetensi guru. Guru diharapkan menguasai setidaknya empat kompetensi yaitu kompetensi profesional, kompetensi pedagogi, kompetensi sosial, dan kompetensi kepribadian. Salah satu wujud kompetensi pedagogi adalah kemampuan mengimplementasikan model pembelajaran sesuai dengan karakteristik materi yang diajarkan. Inkuiri terbimbing menjadi salah satu alternatif model pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan. Berdasarkan hasil observasi awal dan beberapa penelitian terdahulu, masih belum banyak guru yang mampu memahami konsep inkuiri terbimbing, membuat perencanaan pembelajaran menggunakan model inkuiri terbimbing, serta mengimplementasikan model pembelajaran inkuiri terbimbing di kelas. Solusi yang ditawarkan adalah dengan mengadakan pelatihan tentang perencanaan dan pelaksanaan pembelajaran dengan model inkuiri terbimbing. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan adalah dengan pelatihan yang terbagi menjadi tiga kegiatan yaitu pemaparan materi, praktik pembelajaran dengan model inkuiri terbimbing, dan penugasan mandiri. Penugasan mandiri meliputi penyusunan modul ajar dan video pembelajaran dengan menggunakan model inkuiri terbimbing. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada tanggal 2 sampai dengan 9 November 2024. Kegiatan diikuti oleh 132 guru Biologi SMA seJawa Tengah. Pemaparan materi dan praktik pembelajaran dilaksanakan secara luring sedangkan penugasan mandiri berupa praktik penyusunan modul ajar dengan model inkuiri terbimbing dan diskusi pengembangan pembelajaran dengan model inkuiri terbimbing dilaksanakan secara daring asynchronous melalui Google Classroom. Hasil pretest dan postest menunjukkan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kompetensi sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan. Beberapa faktor yang menjadi kendala pelaksanaan kegiatan ini antara lain: (1) beberapa guru masih kurang familiar dengan penggunaan Google Classroom sehingga masih kesulitan dalam pengiriman tugas; (2) beberapa guru masih kesulitan membedakan pembelajaran dengan inkuiri terbimbing dan discovery sehingga beberapa modul ajar yang dikembangkan menggunakan sintaks discovery learning.
