Abstract

This paper aims to examine the impact of the Tomohon International Flower Festival on the occupancy rate of lodging. The International event began in 2006 and until now is still being held because it is considered capable of marketing the tourist attractions in the city of Tomohon. Indeed, every time this event is held, it is certain that many tourists and come to visit the location of the activity, because the distance from Manado to Tomohon is > 24km, allowing many guests to come from surrounding cities. It is suspected that guests may stay at hotels in Manado and not stay in Tomohon. The survey was conducted on 100 staff representing different managerial levels; top management, middle management and lower management at 3 different lodgings namely Grand Master Hotel, Emitta Villa and Gardenia Country with the assumption of representing the status of hotel stars, which are in Tomohon City. The analysis used is validity and reliability, simple linear regression and F test. The results showed that there was an effect of the implementation of the flower festival in Tomohon on the occupancy rate of guests at lodging in the city.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of service quality provided by staff in the banquet hall on guest satisfaction in organizing events at the Peninsula Hotel Manado. Based on the findings of researchers, every time there is an event, staff often get complaints against the organizer, and it has become a hot issue developing outside the hotel, but it is still in the local Manado context. However, this will have an impact on the hotel if this is allowed and not handled properly. Through the survey method, research was conducted by distributing questionnaires to 100 respondents, and analyzed using simple linear regression, Spearman rank correlation, and the coefficient of determination. The result is that there is an influence of service quality on guest satisfaction, and there is a positive relationship between the two variables; the independent variable contributes to the dependent variable. Although the relationship and contribution are minor.

Abstract

The conventional preservation process of fufu skipjack fish still relies on traditional smoking methods that depend on heat directly from combustion. These methods are less energy efficient, difficult to control in terms of temperature and time, and produce products with inconsistent quality and shelf life. This research was conducted to develop a fufu skipjack sterilization system based on an integrated retort machine with boilers and ovens supported by renewable energy and the Internet of Things (IoT). The system is designed to improve energy efficiency, process stability, and extend product life. Renewable energy is obtained from solar cells used to drive the blower in the oven, activate the solenoid valve between the boiler and the retort, and support a microcontroller-based control system. IoT technology is integrated to monitor temperature and pressure in real time, control the oven blower, and automatically set the solenoid over the internet network. The test results show that this retort system can maintain a sterilization temperature of up to 121°C stably, reduce energy consumption by up to 25% compared to conventional methods, and extend the shelf life of fufu skipjack fish by more than two times without degrading organoleptic quality. The application of renewable energy and IoT in this integrated retort machine proves its effectiveness in improving process efficiency, production reliability, and the sustainable export potential of local processed fish products.
