Abstract

At present the rate of population growth in Indonesia is still high, where every year there are 3-4 million people. Based on BKKBN data, the PPM for IUD KB is 77.7% while the IUD family planning enthusiasts in RS.Assakinah Medika are only 21.42%, this figure is far from the PPM determined by the BKKBN. The tendency of still low use of IUD contraception is likely to be highly related to education and acceptor work. The education of acceptors in receiving information about family planning programs and education factors of a person is very influential in the decision to make family planning. The lower the income, the lower the motivation of acceptors in participating in family planning. The purpose of this study was to describe the Education and Employment of Women in Contraception IUD Selection in Sidoarjo in 2015. Method: This study used a descriptive design, the population in the study was all family planning acceptors in RS.Assakinah Medika Sidoarjo in 2015. Sampling by systematic sampling with a sample of 200 acceptors of IUD KB. Analysis uses frequency tables and cross tabulations. Results: The results of the study, family planning acceptors used IUD KB (20%), acceptors who did not use IUD KB (80%). The majority of those who use family planning are acceptors with high education (28.00%) and working mothers (21.38%). Discussion: one's education and work will influence family planning acceptors in participating in family planning. It is expected that health workers can provide counseling about family planning so that acceptors can choose according to their health conditions and provide communication, information, education to family planning acceptors and prospective family planning acceptors so that they understand correctly about the types, effects of contraception and the benefits of contraception.

Abstract

Introduction: The perineum is the area between the thighs bounded by the vulva and anus. Injury to the birth canal can occur due to an error during labor. In addition, the birth canal can also occur due to intentional acts such as episotomy. The cause of perineal infection is caused by organisms that attack the implantation or laceration due to childbirth. Based on data obtained at BPS Ny. Retno Soepomo Surabaya found that mothers who experienced perineal tears in 2016 to 2018 experienced an increase of (32.9%). Therefore this study aims to determine the description of education and postpartum mothers' attitudes about care for perineal wounds. Method: This research uses descriptive method. The study population was all postpartum mothers who controlled on the 7th day with perineal suture wounds in July with a non probability sampling technique which sampled saturated samples, with a sample of 42 people using a questionnaire as primary data and secondary data, data analysis with frequency tables and cross tabulation. Results: The results showed that postpartum mothers with low education majority of perineal wounds did not heal (85.71%) compared to postpartum mothers with higher education the majority of perineum healed wounds (75%), while postpartum mothers with postpartum mothers' attitudes were less amenable to perineum injuries not healed (81.82%) compared to postpartum mothers who had the agreed attitude the majority of perineal wounds healed (71.43%). Discussion: Mothers who take care of perineal wounds can be influenced by education and attitudes of women about care for perineal wounds. Therefore health workers should provide correct advice or instructions on how to perform perineal wound care for successful healing of perineal wounds.

Abstract

Indonesia faces a problem with the rate of population growth in 2005-2015 of 1.49 percent per year. To overcome this, the government promotes Family Planning. The accuracy of clients in choosing contraception strongly supports the success of the Family Planning program. Contraceptive selection is influenced by several factors, namely age, parity, work, education, and so forth. In the village of Kendal Pecabean from year to year, there is the highest demand for injectable contraception. In 2016 there were 444 people interested in injection contraception (57.6%) exceeding the 2016 PPM of 30.28%. The purpose of this study was to determine the age and parity of family planning acceptors for the selection of injectable contraception. Method: This study used a descriptive method which became the population of all KB acceptors in Kendal Pecabean village in the period of January-June 2017 as many as 396 people, the sampling was done by Systematic Random Sampling with a sample size of 191 people. The research instrument was through secondary data by looking at the family data collection in Kendal Pecabean Village and then processed using frequency tabulation and cross tabulation. Results: The results of the study showed that the majority of acceptors aged 20-35 years were 98 people (51.31%) and the majority were primiparous, 123 people (64.40%), who chose injection contraception which was 107 people (56.02%). The results of cross tabulation of the majority of acceptors who chose injection contraception were 20-35 years old as many as 64 people (65.31%) and as many as 72 primiparas (58.54%). Discussion: The majority of injection contraceptive voters were aged 20-35 years. and primipara. Therefore, in order for prospective acceptors to choose contraception according to age and parity, cross-sector counseling, counseling and collaboration are needed to hold a KB safari.

Abstract

The development of the era followed by an increase in technological sophistication has resulted in easy access to information through various media including social media. Teenagers as one of the most active groups of people using technology are highly exposed to the influence of social media. This phenomenon has both positive and negative impacts on the behavior and mindset of adolescents, especially in accessing pornographic content. This study aims to look at the relationship between social media exposure and adolescent behavior in accessing pornographic content. This study used a cross-sectional analytic research approach with a total sample size of 76 samples. The sampling method used was probability proportional to size. The data source in this study is primary data obtained directly from adolescents through filling out questionnaires. Adolescents who easily access information media and have consumed pornography amounted to 48.7%, while adolescents who have difficulty accessing information media and have consumed pornography amounted to 83.8%, with a p value of 0.001. There is a relationship between information media access and pornography consumption. Despite the government's efforts to restrict pornographic content, this does not prevent teenagers from consuming pornographic content. They look for other alternatives in the form of media to access the content as stated by the teenagers in this study. Teenagers admitted that pornographic content is mostly accessed through websites, social media, whatsapp groups and telegrams. They access pornographic videos and photos more than pornographic stories/comics or porn games.

Abstract

Low birth weight (LBW) remains a public health problem that contributes to high rates of neonatal morbidity and mortality. This study aimed to analyse the association between pregnant women's micronutrient intake and the incidence of LBW. The study design was a prospective cohort study involving 210 second to third trimester pregnant women in Padang City in 2025. Micronutrient intake was assessed using the 3x24 hour food recall method, while the baby's birth weight data was obtained during delivery. Chi-square test and logistic regression were used for analysis. The results showed the prevalence of LBW was 15.2%. Intake of iron, zinc, vitamin D, and folic acid were found to be significantly associated with LBW (p < 0.05), while vitamin A and vitamin B12 showed no significant association. Further analysis revealed that iron deficiency was the dominant factor contributing most to the incidence of LBW. These findings confirm the importance of micronutrient fulfilment during pregnancy, both through a nutritionally balanced diet and supplementation, to prevent LBW. Therefore, micronutrient interventions need to be prioritised in maternal and child health programmes, especially through strengthening nutrition counselling and monitoring supplement compliance in antenatal care services.

Abstract

Background. Acute respiratory infections (ARI) are one of the most common health problems affecting children under five years of age (toddlers), especially in developing countries such as Indonesia. Exposure to cigarette smoke in the home environment is a significant environmental determinant of ARI in toddlers and is an important basis for prevention efforts through family education and smoke-free home policies. Methods. This study used a quantitative approach with a cross-sectional design. Data were collected through direct interviews with parents or guardians of toddlers using a prepared questionnaire and confirmation of acute respiratory infection (ISPA) cases through records of visits to health facilities in the last three months. Bivariate analysis was performed using the Chi-Square (2) test. Results. The results of univariate and bivariate analyses showed that the majority of the toddlers in the working area of the Muna District Community Health Centre in the Ambacang Puskesmas work area were exposed to smoke, which was as much as 60%, and more than half, which were 56%, had ARI. Furthermore, the results of bivARIate analysis showed that there was a statistically significant relationship between exposure to smoke and ARI (p = 0.003). Conclusion. The findings of this study provide a strong foundation for health professionals and policymakers to design educational programs and interventions that target reducing exposure to secondhand smoke for the health of children.

Abstract

Teenage pregnancy is a significant public health problem, especially in developing countries such as Indonesia. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of school-based comprehensive sexuality education in reducing teenage pregnancy rates through improving knowledge, attitudes, and preventive behaviours. The method used was a quasi-experiment with a pretest-posttest control group design on 200 secondary school students in an area with high pregnancy rates. The UNESCO guideline-based comprehensive sexuality education intervention covered biological, emotional, social aspects, and decision-making skills delivered through active learning. Data were collected using a validated structured questionnaire and analysed using t-test and multiple linear regression. The results showed a significant increase in knowledge, attitude, and pregnancy prevention behaviour scores in the intervention group compared to the control (p < 0.001). The regression model revealed that knowledge and attitude were the main predictors of prevention behaviour with a contribution of 54.2%. These findings confirm that comprehensive sexuality education is effective in improving reproductive health literacy and shaping healthy and responsible sexual behaviour. Therefore, the main recommendation is to integrate this programme into the national curriculum and strengthen teacher training to support sustainable teenage pregnancy prevention.
