Abstract

The research is located in Ulem-ulem destination of Tetebatu Village. Management of Ulem-ulem forest area and its surroundings has not been optimally carried out, resulting in less effective inter-sectoral coordination. The pattern of natural resources utilization by the community and government has not been fully able to support natural preservation, such as minimum understanding of the concept of ecotourism. In addition, the Tourism Village Management Agency and Tourism Awareness Group of Tetebatu Village do not yet have systematic planning and with integrity related to the development of sustainable ecotourism at Ulem-ulem destination along with waste management that has not yet been implemented. The research employs mixed methods, qualitative and quantitative. To answer the problem formulation regarding development strategy, the researcher employs a qualitative SWOT Matrix approach and questionnaires. The results are presented in four different sub-studies which as a whole will be further discussed.

Abstract

The problems studied in this research are related to the development of the Genggelang Tourism Village, North Lombok Regency, regarding the forms of participation carried out by the community. The research method used is descriptive with a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques included observation, interviews, and documentation with informants comprising the Tourism Awareness Group of Penjor Hamlet, Tourism Awareness Group of Kertaraharja Hamlet, and Tourism Awareness Group of Gangga Hamlet. The results of this study indicate that the forms of community participation are divided into four forms of participation, the so-called the participation of money, assets, labor and skills. This form of community participation is based on the supporting and inhibiting factors that exist in Genggelang Tourism Village. The supporting and inhibiting factors are divided into three hamlets, where each hamlet has a tourist destination. Thus, the form of community participation in Genggelang Tourism Village is also divided in each related hamlet. The information contained in this research is expected to be able to help increase community participation in Genggelang Tourism Village, North Lombok Regency.

Abstract

This study aims to find alternative strategies in developing the potential of Edu-ecotourism in Batudulang Village, Sumbawa Regency. This research begins by identifying the existing potency and analyzing the supporting and inhibiting factors, as well as identifying the opportunities that exist by using the SOAR analysis technique. This research employs descriptive qualitative. Data collection techniques used are field observations, interviews, and documentation. Determination of informants was also obtained by purposive sampling technique. The strategy from the results of this analysis is to develop all potencies that exists, both of natural resources such as biodiversity (flora and fauna) and the beauty of the landscape, as well as of the natural topography of the earth and the culture around the community that can be utilized. The Edu-ecotourism development strategy in Batudulang Village, Batulanteh District, Sumbawa Regency will be further discussed.

Abstract

The English language is being used more and more often, which pushes nations and individuals to thoroughly learn it. Although there have been several attempts to increase awareness of English use, many students still object to the language being used in an academic setting. Because English writing is the most challenging talent, students and teachers who concentrate on it reach a saturation point. However, given that one of the issues is that learners have a hard time writing in English, it is important to identify the underlying causes of these issues. Consequently, the bases' answers are modified to better meet the demands of the learners. This study examined the issues that students have when planning and composing narrative texts. Descriptive and qualitative research methods are used. The research's findings gathered through observation, testing, and interviews. The third semester Hamzanwadi University student was the study's target audience. The findings indicated that difficulties in producing narrative text in terms of syntax, vocabulary, spelling, difficulty, and resolution. There were other contributing elements to the issues, such as how little English is read and written by learners. The students have a variety of options for honing their narrative text writing, including reading books and writing exercises.

Abstract

A study on Analysis of English Language Teaching Strategies is a type of quantitative and qualitative research. This research took place at SMA 1 Pengasih, Kulonprogo. Specifically, this research was conducted in the tenth grade of the English Class of SMA 1 Pengasih, Kulongprogo. This study attempted to analyze the ELT strategies based a documented classroom activity. Qualitative research focused on phenomena that occurred in natural settings and the data were analyzed without the use of statistics. Meanwhile, quantitative data, which is considered to be closed-ended questions, was typically gathered through attitude, behavioral, and performance instruments, as well as checklists in an attempt to answer narrow questions and explain the relationships between variables. The following assumptions guided this study were a) there were ELT strategies utilized by Indonesian teachers as shown in the recorded video clip, b) interactive ELT learning activities could be developed in ELT classroom, c) interactive learning activities could be developed consistently with the criteria used in the study.

Abstract

Merariq merupakan suatu bentuk perkawinan unik yang ada di masyarakat suku sasak. Secara umum, perkawinan itu terjadi karena adanya interaksi yang di lakukan antar individu yang satu dengan lainnya. Perkawinan ini di katakan unik karena tata cara atau peroses perkawinana adat suku sasak ini berbeda dengan tata cara perkawinan adat lain yang ada di perovensi Nusa tenggara Barat. Keunikan perkawinan adat sasak ini terlihat dari perosesnya yang dimana bila kedua belah pihak, laki-laki dan perempuan telah sepakat untuk melakukan ikatan perkawinan pihak laki-laki melarikan perempuan ke rumah kerabatnya untuk di sembunyikan beberapa hari sebelum penyelesaian adat di tuntaskan. Peroses melarikan si gadis ini dalam istilah sasak di sebut merariq/melaiq. Penelitian di lakukan di desa Gerantung dengan jenis penelitian kualitatif. Prosedur pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode observasi, yaitu pengamatan yang merupakan aktivitas penelitian fenomena yang di lakukan secara sistematis. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa pandangan hukum pidana terhadap adat merariq bagi masyarakat kelurahan Gerantung tidaklah bertentangan dengan adat yang ada bahkan dalam perkatiknya masyarakat menerapkan akan tindakan pidana jika melanggar atuaran adat dan negara, salah satunya Pasal 330 dan 332 terhadap adat merariq.

Abstract

The prompt development of English has formed a new perception that English should be the language of daily life. Diverse studies have been carried out to extend knowledge about the language itself with the various methods used. The researcher, in this context, aims to examine the speech style used by the main actor and the racial conflict that happened in the movie of “Freedom Writer”. The researcher uses a socio-linguistic approach to get a better understanding of the context of the speech and the speech style that is used according to the context. The film was based on a real story that happened in the united stated. The film was released in 2007. The researcher found a variety of speech style that was used by the main actor in the movie. The most dominant speech style used in the film is “Formal Style”. The formal style is used in an important and serious situation such as lectures, sermons, television newscasts, and some other occasions. The language style that is rarely used in this film is the “Frozen” style because the style is used in certain literature. More complexed discussion in this movie regarding racial issues were also further discussed.

Abstract

English is arguably the most widely used language in the world and it is considered as the mother tongue by more than 400 million people. It is underlines the impotance of mastering English and the scope of English which is too broad makes everyone has different motivations in learning English. The purpose of this research is to investigate the differences motivation in learning English as a foreign language. The participants of this study were 5 people from different backgrounds based on their needs to support them in living their lives. They were from student, lecturer, awardee of scholarship, worker, and course-taking people. This research method employed a descriptive qualitative method. The sample was taken using purposive sampling since data collection was in accordance with their respective positions. Data collection techniques included observation, interview, and documentation. The results and discussion will be further presented.

Abstract

This study aimed at developing the learners’ ability of the English language. Seen from the successfulness of one in studying the language, Non-formal English Course has much contribution to the English language teaching. The Non-formal English course is denoted as the enrichment toward the students that is studying English in junior, senior high school and event in the university. This research constitutes casual comparative study with the main objective is the English students at Hamzanwadi University, Lombok, Indonesia. The numbers of accessible population in this study are 40 students who follow and did not follow Non-formal Course of English. Data was collected using semi-structure interview. The result revealed that the mean score of students’ speaking performance who followed Non-formal English was 78.25. It proved students’ speaking performance who followed Non-formal English course was high. However, after calculating the comparison of the students’ speaking performance who follow and do not follow it, the researcher found only 3.55 of t-test which means the degree of comparison between them was high comparison. In conclusion, this analysis found the students’ speaking performance who followed Non-formal English Course and those who did not has high comparison.

Abstract

This research journal reviews tourists' perceptions of tourist attractions in Lenek Ramban Biak Village. This research is a type of descriptive qualitative research. The population in this study were tourists visiting Lenek Ramban Biak Village. Samples were taken from tourists who visited as many as 100 respondents with incidental sampling technique. Data was collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using descriptive analysis techniques. The results showed that tourists' perceptions of the tourist attractions of Lenek Ramban Biak in terms of the dimensions of attractions and accessibility with agreed criteria. That means that the tourist attraction of Lenek Ramban Biak Village has unique nature, traditions and culture. There is a Camping place, a friendly community. While on the dimensions of the amenities with the criteria quite agree.
