Abstract

This study aims to analyze school branding management in enhancing the competitiveness of an Islamic primary school. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, participant observation, and documentation, and subsequently analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The findings reveal that school branding is managed through the integration of the school’s vision, flagship programs, school culture, and institutional communication strategies. School culture plays a fundamental role as the foundation of brand identity, strengthening the institutional image in a sustainable manner. The theoretical contribution of this study emphasizes that school branding in Islamic primary schools is most effective when grounded in values, consistency of educational services, and authentic student experiences. Practically, these findings offer a strategic framework for school administrators in designing branding initiatives aligned with academic quality and institutional character.

Abstract

A student’s underlying beliefs about intelligence whether it is a fixed trait or can be developed (a “mindset”) is a powerful predictor of academic resilience and achievement. Fostering a growth mindset, the belief that intelligence is malleable, has been identified as a critical target for educational interventions aimed at improving student success. This study aimed to quantitatively evaluate the impact of a targeted, school-based growth mindset intervention on the academic achievement and perseverance of middle school students in a challenging subject. A quasi-experimental, pre-test/post-test study was conducted with 250 8th-grade students. The intervention group (n=125) participated in six workshops focused on neuroplasticity and growth mindset principles. The control group (n=125) received standard study skills training. Academic achievement was measured by mathematics grades and standardized test scores. The intervention group demonstrated a statistically significant improvement in their mathematics grades (p < .01) and reported higher levels of academic perseverance compared to the control group. The control group showed no significant change in either measure over the same period. Targeted, low-cost growth mindset interventions are an effective strategy for improving student academic achievement. Fostering the belief that intellectual abilities can be developed through effort is a powerful pedagogical tool for enhancing student success and resilience.

Abstract

The Subject Teacher Consultation Group (Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran/MGMP) serves as an important professional development forum that contributes to improving the quality of teaching and learning. However, the effectiveness of MGMP implementation is highly dependent on systematic organizational management and support from various stakeholders. This study aims to describe the management processes of MGMP, analyze the factors influencing its implementation, and examine its implications for improving teacher performance through a multi-site study conducted at SMPN 1 Pasrepan and SMPN 2 Kejayan, Pasuruan Regency. This research employed a qualitative approach using a multi-site study design. Data were collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving school principals, MGMP coordinators, local language teachers, and students. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, while data validity was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings reveal that MGMP management was implemented systematically through the stages of planning, organizing, implementation, and evaluation. Supporting factors for successful MGMP implementation included teachers’ commitment, support from school principals, collaboration among teachers, and the availability of facilities and infrastructure. Meanwhile, inhibiting factors consisted of limited time, insufficient operational funding, uneven participation among members, and the mismatch between teachers’ educational backgrounds and the subjects they taught. The implementation of MGMP management had positive implications for enhancing teachers’ professional and pedagogical competencies, strengthening collaboration among teachers, improving the quality of instruction, and supporting the preservation of local languages. The study also found that the alignment of MGMP programs with teachers’ professional needs and strong leadership support from school principals were key determinants in improving teacher performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the coping strategies of Generation X and Millennial school principals in work stress management within the context of elementary school leadership. The research uses a qualitative approach with a multi-site study design conducted at SDN Ngembe 1 and SDN Baujeng 1 in Beji District. The subjects of the study are school principals representing Generation X and Millennial, selected purposively. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, and then analyzed thematically through stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, including cross-site analysis. The results show that both generations face relatively similar sources of work stress, particularly stemming from leadership role complexities, administrative demands, and stakeholder expectations. However, there are differences in how stress is perceived and managed. Generation X principals tend to use problem-solving and self-resilience-oriented coping strategies supported by work experience, while Millennial principals are more flexible, combining problem-solving, emotional management, technology utilization, and social support strategies. These findings emphasize that generational backgrounds influence the coping strategy dynamics of school principals in work stress management, which should be considered in the development of policies and programs to strengthen elementary school leadership.

Abstract

Background. The learning of natural sciences at Islamic elementary schools in Central Ternate has not yet been integrated with the verses of the Koran. There is still a dichotomy between general knowledge and religious knowledge, even though all of this knowledge originates from the Al-Quran. Purpose. This study aims to dig deeper into the integration of verses from the Koran in science learning at Islamic Elementary Schools in Central Ternate City. This study uses a phenomenological approach to the triangulation model. Respondents in this study were 15 people consisting of 3 school principals, 3 class teachers, and 9 grade 4 students of SD Islamiyah in Central Ternate City. Method. Data collection techniques in this study are observation, documentation, and in-depth interviews related to research variables. The research data were analyzed descriptively.   Results. The results showed that based on the results of observations of learning activities in class 4 SD Islamiyah in Ternate City, it had not been found integrating science learning with verses from the Qur'an, meaning that learning only focused on science subject matter, had nothing to do with verses. Al-Qur'an related to science material being taught, but students' character building can be seen clearly when learning activities take place. Conclusion. The same thing was also obtained from the results of interviews with school principals, class teachers, and students that the implementation of learning by integrating verses of the Qur'an had not been carried out because the school was still carrying out learning by referring to the established curriculum, so there was no connection between Al -Qur'an and any subject matter conveyed by the class teacher.
