Abstract

This study investigated the effects of student-led conferences (SLC) on parents, instructors, and students at MI Progressive Al Musthofa Bangsal Mojokerto. A qualitative descriptive approach with a case study type of research was applied; this study involved observation, interviews, and document collection from 15 students, two teachers, and three parents of students in Class II Marwah. The Miles, Huberman & Saldana model was used in data analysis consisting of condensing, presenting, and making conclusions. The study's findings demonstrated that SLC gives parents, instructors, and students a chance to assess each other's development and identifies areas where kids need improvement. SLC helps teachers to understand students' individual development and gives parents a deeper understanding of their children's strengths, challenges, and dreams. With SLC, students can direct their learning by selecting engaging subjects to cover. In addition to encouraging individual study and subject exploration that aligns with students' interests, SLC can foster open communication between all parties and raise the shared accountability for kids' academic performance. Teachers and parents will be able to understand their pupils' learning experiences better, enabling them to offer more specialized help. By putting SLC into practice, educators may help students take charge of their education, foster a collaborative learning environment, and promote lifelong learning and academic advancement.

Abstract

Mathematics is a subject that must be given since children are at the elementary school level up to college. However, mathematics is not much in demand by students, and mathematics is considered a difficult subject for the majority of students. This is reinforced by research conducted by TIMSS 2015 which illustrates that Indonesia is in the bottom 6th position, as well as the results of PISA 2018 which show rank 70 out of 78 countries. Some of the causes of this are the lack of variety and abstract mathematics learning, and this is contrary to the concrete way of thinking of elementary school students. The Indonesian Realistic Mathematics Learning Approach (PMRI) is an approach that can lead students to think from concrete situations to mathematical concepts by developing practical, logical, critical, and honest thinking patterns. PMRI also makes students understand problems in everyday life. The research aims to find out how effective PMRI is on the mathematics learning outcomes of fourth-graders infractions at MIN Setia Bhakti Trawas. This type of research is quantitative research with a quasi-experimental method by taking the subject using a purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques in this study use tests. The results of the study using the N-Gain score test showed that the average N-Gain score for the PMRI class was 52.92%, which was included in the quite effective category. Meanwhile, the average N-Gain score for the control class is 27.44%, including the criteria for being not effective.

Abstract

The background of this study is the low student activity which has an impact on the learning outcomes of class V students in mathematics subjects. The purpose of this study is to improve learning activities and mathematics learning outcomes of class V MI Pancasila Gondang students through a cooperative learning model of the Student Teams Achievement (STAD) type. This study used a Classroom Action Research (PTK) design consisting of two cycles. Research data in the form of student learning activities is obtained through observation during learning, while student learning outcomes are obtained through tests at the end of each cycle. The results showed that student activity in cycle I was 56% then in cycle II increased to 85%, classical student learning outcomes in cycle I were 52% with an average student score of 66, then increased to 86% with an average student score of 76 in cycle II. It was concluded that using a Cooperative Learning Model type of Student Teams Achievement (STAD) can increase the activities and learning outcomes of class V students in the material building materials at MI Pancasila Gondang.

Abstract

In this study, this qualitative research aimed to describe the misconceptions students of junior high school in understanding characteristics of quadrilateral plane figure. The misconceptions instrument were administered to three students in 8th grade of junior high school. Students understanding were analyzed by misconceptions test with CRI (Certainty of Response Index) method with interviews. The misconceptions in understanding the characteristics of quadrilateral plane figure (trapezoid and parallelogram) were the main result of this study. Students showed the same misconceptions in understanding the characteristics of quadrilateral plane figure. The first, Students assumed the diagonal trapezoid isosceles is the only a pairs of same length segment. The second, students only known the parallelogram and rectangle shape are in the regular quadrilateral shape (if the parallelogram and rectangle has different position or irregular shape then it is no called a quadrilateral). In particular, the results indicated that the students had misconceptions in understanding characteristics of quadrilateral plane figure. The misconception occurs because the ability of student understanding is low or incomplete. So, the teacher should gave more problem and images for understanding the characteristics of plane figure.
