Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever has spread throughout the region, especially in tropical and warm climates. Dengue fever has become a global health problem and causes outbreaks almost every year. This study aims to compare the clinical manifestations of DHF patients in pediatrics and adults. This study used a health center-based cross-sectional approach and used secondary data on DHF sufferers from 2019-2022 at the Tutuyan Health Center, namely 72 sufferers. Clinical manifestations of fever are symptoms that generally appear in patients with DHF (100%), and headaches (72.2%), vomiting (40.3%), nausea (34.7%). Meanwhile, the few symptoms found were abdominal pain (15.3%), aches (15.3%), rash (11.1%), joint pain (9.7%), and seizures (8.3%). Abdominal pain, joint pain, aches, nausea, and vomiting are commonly found in adults, while rashes and seizures are commonly found in pediatrics. More efforts are needed to strengthen national programs and thereby reduce the morbidity, mortality, and social and economic burden generated by DHF outbreaks and epidemics

Abstract

Developmental stimulation refers to a series of activities aimed at promoting optimal growth and development in children. One of the factors influencing the success of child growth and development is the knowledge and ability of parents to detect early signs of development.  This research aimed to determine the effect of developmental stimulation education on the early detection of developmental milestones in children aged 0-5 years. The research method was a pre-experimental design using a pretest-posttest one group design approach. The subjects included 73 samples, with 17 samples aged 0-12 months, 18 samples aged 12-36 months, and 38 samples aged 36-30 months. Early detection ability was measured before and after education using the KPSP questionnaire as a reference. The results indicated that in the 0-12 month age group, there was a significant increase in early detection ability after receiving education (p1 = 0.001, p < 0.05). In the 12-36 month age group, a significant improvement was also observed (p2 = 0.001, p < 0.05), while the 36-60 month age group showed an increase after education (p3 = 0.001, p < 0.05). this study concluded that there was a significant effect of developmental stimulation education on the early detection ability of parents for children aged 0-5 years.

Abstract

Exclusive breastfeeding coverage in Indonesia remains at 63.9%, below the SDGs target 80%, largely due to non-optimal breast milk production. Non-pharmacological methods, such as oxytocin massage, may enhance milk production, and its effectiveness can be increased with lemongrass of oxytocin massage with lemongrass oil on breast milk production in postpartum women. This study was conducted in Tilongkabila subdistrict, Bone Bolango, using a quasi-experimental pretest–posttest design with a control group method, involving 24 postpartum women selected purposively and divided into an intervention group and a control group. The intervention was carried out for five consecutive days, involving measurement of breast milk volume using a manual pump and a self-report questionnaire for mothers. The Mann-Whitney analysis showed a significant increase in breast milk volume in the intervention group compared to the control group (p < 0.05). Mothers received oxytocin massage using lemongrass oil demonstrated greater and more consistent milk production, alongside improved relaxation and comfort. It can be concluded that oxytocin massage using lemongrass oil is effective in increasing breast milk production in postpartum women and can be recommended as a simple, affordable, and safe complementary therapy to support the success of the exclusive breastfeeding program.
