Abstract

Abstract : The Quranic interpretation is an effort to explain the meaning of the Quranic verses. In literary studies, the Quranic interpretative attempt is an interpreter’s reception aestethics towards the Quranic verses. In another side, the interpreter (mufasir) is, during his effort of interpreting the Quran, necessarly influ-enced by the other texts he or she has ever read. The process of the interpreter’s being influenced by the other texts while interpreting the Quran is, in the literary theory, called intertextuality. Thus, there is a very close relation between the Quranic interpretation and literary sciences. Keywords : literary science, structuralism of science, pragmatic approach, reception aesthetics, intertextuality, the Quran, interpretation, hadith, history. Kata-Kata Kunci : ilmu sastra, strukturalisme ilmu, pendekatan pragmatik, estetika resepsi, intertekstualitas, al-Qur’an, tafsir, hadis, sejarah

Abstract

Palestine is the only nation in the world still experiencing physical occupation. In 1948, Israel was founded on the land of the Palestinian people by expelling the population and occupying the land they left behind. In facing the colonial situation, the Palestinians carried out resistance in various ways, including cultural resistance, and one of the models was artistic imitation or mimicry. This article aims to find the pattern of mimicry that occurs in Palestine using the postcolonial approach of Edward Said and the mimicry theory introduced by Homi Bhabha. This article concludes that some Palestinians consciously imitate Jewish and Israeli culture and literacy. The imitation effort was carried out as part of a strategy to gain independence.

Abstract

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technologies has transformed educational practices globally, presenting both challenges and opportunities for Islamic education. This study examines the dynamics of reforming Islamic education curricula to align with the demands of the digital age while preserving core Islamic values. The research aims to explore effective strategies for integrating digital tools and methodologies into Islamic education, ensuring relevance and accessibility for contemporary learners. A qualitative research approach was employed, utilizing document analysis, expert interviews, and focus group discussions with educators, curriculum developers, and digital experts. The findings reveal that while digitalization enhances access to educational resources and fosters innovative teaching methods, it also introduces challenges such as the potential dilution of traditional values and a digital divide among learners. Key outcomes include a framework for a modern Islamic education curriculum that balances technological integration with spiritual and ethical teachings. The study concludes that reforming Islamic education in the digital age necessitates a holistic approach, embracing technology while safeguarding the integrity of Islamic principles. This research contributes to the discourse on modernizing religious education to prepare learners for a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Abstract

While previous studies on Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) often focus on its theological orientation or political engagement, little attention has been given to how its rejection of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgender (LGBT) practices is reconciled with its identity as a moderate Islamic organization. This study addresses that gap by examining how NU constructs and practices moderation while firmly opposing LGBT behavior. Using a qualitative approach through analysis of official documents and in-depth interviews with Muslimat NU figures, the study finds that NU’s rejection of LGBT is grounded in theological arguments from the Qur’an and Hadith, reinforced by socio-cultural considerations and the organizational principles of moderation. This rejection is institutionalized through fatwas and official statements—most notably the 2016 NU fatwa—which prohibit same-sex relationships, yet explicitly denounce discrimination and violence against LGBT individuals. Moderation is operationalized through educational, rehabilitative, and dialogical strategies rather than purely punitive measures, reflecting the organization’s selective adaptation to modern challenges within the “Islam Nusantara” framework. This dual commitment—upholding theological steadfastness while fostering inclusive social engagement—illustrates a dynamic form of Islamic moderation. The findings not only contribute to scholarly debates on reconciling moral conservatism with moderation in Islamic contexts but also provide actionable insights for policymakers and religious leaders in managing sensitive moral issues in pluralistic societies.
