The expression of the soul of a traditional society in building its cultural existence is based on an action that is carried out intensely in life, one of which is the habit of nginang. This habit is the habit of traditional people in expressing themselves in social and cultural spaces so as to build the characteristics and identity of the territory. Nginang is a traditional community habit that is generally seen in life in Indonesia, Including Bali for generations. The habit of nginang is an ancestral heritage that is very rare ad almost extinct in Bali. This habit has actually received little attention among young people, although in fact, this habit can be understood to have many benefits, one of which is maintaining healthy teeth and mouth. Practically, nginang ingredients consisting of betel leaf, pinah fruit, whiting, gambier and tobacco have extraordinary benefits because they contain several main compounds such as sesquiterpenes, kavikol, eugenol, cineol, flavonoids, tannins, catechins, and alkaloids

Abstract

The development of the world of health with the use of drugs continues to increase by developing new biosyntheses from natural materials. One of the plants being explored was the bodhi plant (Ficus religiosa Linn.) through phytochemical testing and the total flavonoid content of ethanol extracts and their relevance to the Ayurvedic literature. This research uses Mixed Methods Sequential Exploratory Qualitative and Quantitative experimental laboratory with post test only control group design. The process of collecting data through observation, laboratory test results, and literature studies. Bodhi leaf samples were selected and determined for the experimental group. The initial stage is the extraction process using the maceration method using a technical 96% ethanol solvent. Next, phytochemical testing was carried out with the addition of reagents. Determination of total flavonoid content was carried out by the UV-vis spectrophotometer method using quercetin as the standard. The results of the phytochemical test showed that the ethanolic extract of the leaves of the bodhi plant was positive for bioactive alkaloids, flavonoids, and steroids, so further testing was carried out on total flavonoid levels and analyzed by linear regression equations with Microsoft office excel. The straight line equation shows that Y = 0.0064x – 0.0003 with a correlation coefficient (R2) of 0. 9825. The total flavonoid content is 13.61 ± 3.26 mg/g. Through this analysis, conventional medical uses or indications indicate that flavonoids are useful as antioxidants with their mechanism of counteracting free radicals so that they are effective as prevention and treatment of a disease. This is relevant when it comes to Ayurveda. Indications in Ayurveda state that the main indication of bodhhi is rejuvenation. This is also discussed in the Hindu religious book (Veda) called Rasayana tantra.

Abstract

One of the government's efforts to improve the behavior and independence of the community so that they are able to implement preventive and promotive actions is carried out through the health of pregnant women aimed at reducing maternal mortality (MMR). One of the complaints in pregnant women is emesis gravidarum in the first trimester. This study uses the application of traditional treatment, namely Acupressure. The problem in this study is about the form of implementation and acupressure for emesis gravidarum in first trimester pregnant women at Puskesmas I,East Denpasar District. This study used a quasi-experimental quantitative method with a control group pretest – posttest design. The data collection process used observations and the results of the Pregnancy-Unique Quantification Of Emesis/Nausea questionnaire (PUQE-24) in the form of giving acupressure everytime you felt emesis gravidarum. The sample was selected using probability sampling technique. There were 30 respondents who were divided into 2 groups, the experimental group was 15 respondents and the control group was 15 respondents. The results of this study indicate that there is an effect of acupressure on decreasing emesis gravidarum in the experimental group with the Wilcoxon test analysis showing the Asymp.sig value of 0.001 < 0.05, it can be concluded Ha (the hypothesis is accepted), meaning that there is a difference between the pre - post test results of acupressure on emesis gravidarum, the effect of acupressure on emesis gravidarumin first trimester pregnant women at Puskesmas I, East Denpasar District. Seeing the results of this study, it is hoped that acupressure can be used as an alternative to traditional health in increasing promotive and preventive actions.

Abstract

Communication is needed in various professions that are engaged in by humans, including the profession of health workers. Communication carried out by health workers is therapeutic communication which aims to build a relationship of trust between health workers and patients in the process of handling the patient's illness. Therapeutic communication is not only done by modern health workers such as midwives, nurses, and doctors. However, health workers such as Balian Usada in Bali also use therapeutic communication to facilitate the communication process in handling and healing patients' illnesses. This research is a study of the phenomenon of therapeutic communication which is not only carried out by modern health workers but also by traditional health workers. In the process of collecting data, this research uses the method of literature study and document analysis related to the field of study, and is presented by means of interpretation and description analysis. From this research it can be seen that Balian Usada is a Balinese traditional healer who learns medicine consciously, either through Guru Waktera learning from Balinese medicine experts, or self-taught through Lontar Usada. Balian Usada has a professional ethics of Balian or Sesana Balian. Sesananing Balian is a code of ethics that is mandatory as a moral control for usada in carrying out their profession. Balian Usada builds patient trust and comfort through anamnesis. When the patient feels trust and comfort and the communication has gone both ways, Balian Usada then plans the patient's treatment according to the patient's complaints. Good and effective communication has a significant impact on the patient's recovery. Poor communication can be a problem in patient care. Developing easy communication is essential to reduce patient anxiety.  Keywords: Therapeutic Communication; Traditional Healer; Balian Usada
