Abstract

Introduction: In the pandemic era, online learning is quickly overtaking traditional classroom instruction in popularity. Dealing with pandemic conditions while still prioritizing the ultimate goal of optimal learning, namely by using online learning combined with a review approach. The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of the practicum method with an online review approach of the Anatomy and Physiology Course compared to an online mini-lecture for nursing students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Lamongan, Indonesia. Methods: Adopted pre-experimental prepost test design used two group. Counted participant were recruited from nursing students in Universitas Muhammadiyah Lamongan in the academic year 2020 and 2021 in first semester by purposive sampling. Analyzed using Mann Whitney to cultivate midterm and final exams score. Results: The mean and standart deviation of intervention group (76.32 ± 9.63) exhibited significant compared to control group 63 ± 9.80 with p value= 0.001. Conclusion: The online review practice method has been proven to increase student scores during the pandemic compared to usual online review. Preliminary findings from this study show how COVID-19 has impacted first-year students' online learning behaviors and suggest online review learning as a strategy for maintaining students' learning during the pandemic.

Abstract

Introduction: The coverage of the Covid-19 vaccination for the elderly in Indonesia is low, even though the elderly is a vulnerable group to the severity of Covid-19 infection and is the main focus for increasing their immunity. One of the efforts to increase interest, perception, and implementation of the Covid-19 vaccination in the elderly is by providing education through Javanese-language videos. This study aimed to determine the effect of educational videos with Javanese language on the perception, interest, and implementation of the Covid-19 vaccination in the elderly. Method: The research used a pre-experimental design with one group pre-post test. The population were 182 elderly. The samples of this research were 125 elderly who had not been vaccinated and selected using the cluster random sampling. This research was conducted in Karangdayu Village, Baureno District, Bojonegoro Regency from March to June 2023. The intervention was in the form of playing educational videos with Javanese language about Covid-19. The data were taken through a questionnaire, and then analyzed using the Wilcoxon and McNemar tests (α ≤0.05). Result: The results showed that there was an effect on changes in the perceptions and interests of the elderly in Karangdayu Village, Baureno District, Bojonegoro Regency after being given educational videos about Covid-19 vaccination (p=0.001). Educational videos are effective in increasing the perception and interest of the elderly for the Covid-19 vaccination, and statistically affecting the implementation of the Covid-19 vaccination in the elderly. However, descriptively, providing educational videos in Javanese language has not been able to maximize the number of elderly people to administer the Covid-19 vaccine. It is necessary to study in more depth about the factors that affect the implementation of Covid-19 vaccinations in the elderly besides interests and perceptions.

Abstract

Introduction : Rapid health assessment (RHA) is an assessment during the disaster emergency response phase that requires a fast, precise, and accurate time so that the damage caused by the disaster and immediate needs of disaster victims can be recognized. Rapid assessment with manual forms will prolong the process of needs assessment and analysis. Android-based RHA applications are made to facilitate rapid assessment so that the type of assistance needed can be determined as soon as possible. The purpose of the study was to create an android-based RHA application, test the validity and usability of the application, and test it on application users. Methods: This research was conducted using a Research and Development design divided into two stages. In stage 1, the application was created, and five experts tested the validity and reliability. Stage 2 was socialization and application trials on 30 disaster volunteers in Lamongan. In this stage, the usability of application was measured by the System Usability Scale. Results: The application components had good validity (I-CVI=1) and reliability (Cronbach’s alpha=0.768). The usability score showed that 84.3% of the users considered the application easy to operate, 83.67% stated that the menu display and features were easy to use, 80% stated that it was comfortable, 81.3% were satisfied with the application features, and 85.7% stated that the application was helpful in disaster. Conclusions: The RHA application is valid, reliable, and usable for general use for rapid health assessment in the disaster emergency response phase.

Abstract

Background: COVID-19 is a global pandemic that strikes various groups, including nurses. Nurses are the health workers who are most exposed to COVID-19. Besides causing physical symptoms, COVID-19 also brings psychological symptoms, which need to be studied more deeply. The purpose of this study was to investigate post-covid psychological impact on nurses from the perspective of Indonesian nurses. Methods: This study was conducted using a descriptive approach on 187 nurses working in health services in Lamongan Regency who were exposed to COVID-19 and selected by purposive sampling. Psychological conditions studied included depression, which was measured by the Patient Health Questionnaire-9 (PHQ-9); anxiety, measured by general anxiety disorder-7 (GAD-7); and insomnia, measured by the Sleep Condition Indicator (SCI). The data was collected from June to July 2022 using a Google form and analyzed descriptively. Results: The results showed that 55.1% of nurses were female, 87.7% were aged 22-45 years, 73.8% worked in hospitals, 87.2% worked in health services for more than 20 years, 81.8% smoked, and 18.2% were hospitalized when exposed to COVID-19. The results showed that 31.6% of nurses experienced mild to severe anxiety, 32.1% experienced mild to severe depression, and 9.1% experienced insomnia. Conclusion: Psychological symptoms experienced by nurses after being exposed to COVID-19 included anxiety, depression, and insomnia. Psychosocial stress factors and or pathophysiology of viral infections may trigger psychological disorders. Future researchers are recommended to examine further the factors contributing to psychological disorders in nurses and how long nurses experience post-covid psychological disorders.

Abstract

Introduction: Glagah is one of the districts in Lamongan Regency with a high potential for natural disasters such as floods, tornadoes, droughts, and forest fires. To reduce the impact of disasters, disaster mitigation is required. On the other hand, students are a vulnerable group to natural disasters. Before disaster mitigation is carried out, it is necessary to initially identify students’ level of disaster knowledge and preparedness. The purpose of the study was to determine students’ knowledge and preparedness in facing natural disasters. Method. The study used descriptive quantitative research with a sample of 310 junior high school students in Glagah District who were obtained using a two-stage cluster random sampling technique on March 6-10, 2024. The data were collected using a questionnaire on knowledge and preparedness for floods, tornadoes, and fires, and then analyzed descriptively. Result. The results indicated that students’ knowledge in dealing with floods, tornadoes, and fires was in the "good" category (96.5%; 87.4%; 71.6%). Students were in the "prepared" category for floods and fires (62.6%; 49.7%), and in the "very prepared" category for tornadoes (48.7%). Conclusion. Students demonstrated the best knowledge in flood and fire disasters. Students were in the "very prepared" category in tornado disasters, and in the "prepared" category in floods and fires. It is recommended that future researchers can conduct interventions to improve student preparedness in all types of natural disasters and identify students’ knowledge and preparedness in dealing with earthquake disasters.
