The enforcement of appropriate nursing diagnoses for patients with COVID-19 is also fundamental in determining proper nursing care to help the patients achieve maximum health. Objective: This study aimed to describe and analyze nursing diagnoses in patients with COVID-19 treated in the isolation rooms and ICUs. Methods: This study used a secondary data analysis from hospital medical record data of patients with COVID-19 from early December 2020 to the end of February 2021. Data were selected using a cluster random sampling technique and analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: The results showed that the signs and symptoms of the patients with COVID-19 that often appeared were fever, cough, shortness of breath, and decreased consciousness. The common nursing diagnoses in the hospitalized patients with COVID-19 were hyperthermia, ineffective airway clearance, gas exchange disorder, self-care deficit, spontaneous ventilation disorder, spontaneous circulation disorder, knowledge deficit, and shock risk. Conclusion: This study offers an insight into nursing practices in the hospital setting, which can be used as a basis for nurses to perform complete nursing assessments and nursing diagnoses during the pandemic.

Abstract

Aim: This literature review aims to explain the effectiveness of combination relaxation therapies with music and imagery technique to reduce the quality and quantity of pain experienced by post-operative patients. Methods: The research data were identified from 5 journal databases including PubMed, JSTOR, Willey Online Library, Sage Journal and Taylor Francis Online by using the PIOS (Participant, Intervention, Outcomes and Study Design) method and MesH term on advanced search engines. Additional records identified through Google Scholar and Research Gate. The articles that become research data are articles published in 1998–2018 in English version, open access and full-text in the form of original research articles. Results: Eight articles that were screened using PRISMA reviewed without meta-analysis consisted of four articles intervening in a combination of relaxation with music and four articles combining with imagery. Conclusion: The combination of relaxation techniques with music, as well as a combination of relaxation techniques with effective imagery are used to reduce pain. Based on the analysis of the results in several studies, it can be found that patient education about relaxation therapy should be given to all surgical patients to help improve patient’s comfort and enhance tissue healing.

Abstract

Introduction: In the pandemic era, online learning is quickly overtaking traditional classroom instruction in popularity. Dealing with pandemic conditions while still prioritizing the ultimate goal of optimal learning, namely by using online learning combined with a review approach. The purpose of this research is to examine the effect of the practicum method with an online review approach of the Anatomy and Physiology Course compared to an online mini-lecture for nursing students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Lamongan, Indonesia. Methods: Adopted pre-experimental prepost test design used two group. Counted participant were recruited from nursing students in Universitas Muhammadiyah Lamongan in the academic year 2020 and 2021 in first semester by purposive sampling. Analyzed using Mann Whitney to cultivate midterm and final exams score. Results: The mean and standart deviation of intervention group (76.32 ± 9.63) exhibited significant compared to control group 63 ± 9.80 with p value= 0.001. Conclusion: The online review practice method has been proven to increase student scores during the pandemic compared to usual online review. Preliminary findings from this study show how COVID-19 has impacted first-year students' online learning behaviors and suggest online review learning as a strategy for maintaining students' learning during the pandemic.

Abstract

Utilization of communication and information technology has been widely used in the health sector, especially nursing. As one of the nursing interventions for thalassemia patients and caregivers, genetic counseling is not only done face to face but can use android-based telenursing facilities through the complete features available in the Cyber Gen application. This study aims to measure the usability level of Cyber Gen application as an indirect genetic counseling medium for thalassemia patients. This application was developed with four main services: basic information about diseases, consultation rooms, social support, and direct surveys. This application is built using the Flutter Framework, the Dart programming language, and Cloud Firestore as the database. Usability was measured by using the System Usability Scale in two groups of 30 respondents each with an incidental sampling technique. The usability score shows 81.75 for personal users and 82.25 for counselor users with a 100% readiness level for use. These results indicate that the Cyber Gen application can be used to deliver genetic counseling intervention to thalassemia patients and caregivers.
