Abstract

The Magnus effect is about the formation of pressure difference around a cylindrical or spherical projectile rotating in the flow of fluid. This difference causes forces acting on the projectile changing the direction of the projectile movement. Little understanding to Magnus effect concept is necessary for every activist in the sport area playing with ball. Discussing about the Magnus effect for the direction case of the ball in table tennis made them interested, e.g. the cases of empty shots, top spin, back spin, and side spin each produces different ball direction characteristics.

Abstract

The community needs education to change from the first behavior which usually un-separates waste to separate the organic types into non-organic types, even needs developing to have a 3R behavior, reduce, reuse and recycle. Educational activities for the community of the RT 29 RW 08, the village Sawah Lebar Baru were begun with socialization and distributing brochures. In the following week, a questionnaire was distributed to assess who had a better perception of waste among them to be collected and formed into a group. This group was directed to develop their perception into behavior; they were given a means of separating organic and non-organic waste. In the upcoming activity program, an assessment will be carried out on them to find out which ones give more time voluntarily to manage waste. Those who do so will be developed into compost producers or craftsmen of valuable objects from waste

Abstract

Palm oil frond waste is a type of agricultural waste that is quite abundant in Pematang Gubernur Village, Muara Bangkahulu District, Bengkulu City. To date, this waste has not been optimally utilized and tends to be discarded, thus potentially polluting the environment. This community service activity aims to improve community knowledge and skills in processing palm oil frond waste into compost through hands-on training (learning by doing). The implementation method includes identifying partner needs, counseling, technical training in composting, practical assistance, as well as evaluation and follow-up. The results of the activity show an increase in community knowledge and skills in composting, the formation of compost products resulting from the training, the development of training modules, and the formation of community-based compost processing groups. This activity proves that utilizing palm oil frond waste can be an environmentally friendly solution while supporting community food security.

Abstract

Despite coffee is one of the leading commodities in Bengkulu Province, the traditional drying process of coffee beans for 10-14 days are still a common practice. This research aims to design, fabricate, and evaluate the thermal performance of a 50 kg capacity wood-fueled coffee drying oven. A three-dimensional CFD model was developed using ANSYS Fluent to analyze temperature distribution within the drying chamber and optimize thermal performance prior to fabrication. Experimental testing was conducted to validate the numerical predictions under controlled operating conditions. The proposed technology is distinguished by its use of locally available biomass fuel. The results of the coffee drying oven simulation, under empty conditions, achieved the desired temperature based. The drying time for coffee beans in this research was 9 hours, achieving a moisture content of 10% to 13% (a moisture content of 12.5% is the Indonesian National Standard. Simulation results predicted chamber temperatures ranging from 67°C to 87°C with an inlet temperature of approximately 100°C, indicating adequate thermal conditions for drying. Experimental measurements showed good agreement with the CFD model, reaching near-steady thermal conditions within 25 minutes.

Abstract

Abstract

This research discusses the analysis of filling time and injection pressure on ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) case link flow water meter products with variations in gate position using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) methods. The selection of the appropriate gate position significantly affects the efficiency of the injection process and the quality of the mold results. In this study, several gate position configurations are analyzed to determine their impact on filling time and injection pressure during the molding process. Simulations were conducted using CAD software integrated with a plastic injection analysis module. The analysis results indicate that a strategic gate position can minimize filling time and reduce Injection pressure up to 18% and reducing filling time by up to 12%, compared to other gate positions, thus increasing production process efficiency and reducing the risk of product defects. This research provides recommendations for the optimal gate position that can be applied in the production process of case link flow water meters to achieve better quality and productivity.
