Abstract

Abstract. This paper discusses the response and readiness of the community to the development of the Jagoi Babang PLBN and analyzes the forms of participation of the Jagoi Babang border community in the stages of the development process and utilization of the Jagoi Babang PLBN. Data and information in this study were collected using in-depth interviews, Focus Group Discussions and non-participant observation. Furthermore, the data was processed in a qualitative descriptive method. The results showed that the Jagoi Babang border community generally responded positively to the development of the PLBN because it was felt very helpful for them in carrying out cross-border activities safely and comfortably. The community also hopes that developing the PLBN will help the community improve the economic level and open up new job opportunities, especially for local youth who have successfully received higher education outside Jagoi-Babang. Another important finding is that the Jagoi Babang border community has participated and is currently participating in the planning process and the implementation phase of the physical development of the PLBN in a very limited scope. Workers outside the Jagoi area still dominate most construction work. Community involvement is still focused on the low-skill work sector as manual labour, such as stone transporters, cement casters, construction workers, cleaners/ sweepers and security guards. Furthermore, in the plan to utilize the PLBN, the Immigration and Customs Office will actively involve residents as workers, either as administrative employees or as unskilled labourers or other non-skilled workers. In addition, residents will also be provided with facilities for trading by utilizing market buildings/shops/kiosks built around the PLBN to sell various garden/agricultural products and handicrafts. Keywords: Participation; Society; Border; PLBN; Jagoi Babang Abstrak.

This study aimed to determine whether Indonesian workers who work abroad are aware of the importance of using remittances as the fee for their family education. As education is a basic need and benefits the improvement of the education of the nation's children. This research used qualitative research methods with data taken from Jungkat Village, Mempawah Regency. This study showed that most Indonesian workers in the village work to earn a living and provide appropriate education to their family members. Abstract

This article, "Strategy for Stunting Prevention Through Increasing Community Participation" is based on the "Gender Mainstreaming" Study in Kaliau Village, Sajingan Besar district, Sambas regency. The research uses a qualitative descriptive approach. Our findings indicate that the causes of stunting in children in Kaliau village are inadequate nutrition, low-quality sanitation, poor reproductive health conditions, and decision-making skills, limited health service facilities, relatively low education level of both mothers and fathers and subsequent poor parenting skills. The form of participation carried out by the community is generally vertical in nature, where most child-caring and rearing responsibilities are shouldered by mothers, and fathers' involvement is still very low. We suggest the need to improve educational activities for community health and sanitation, parenting skills, nutritional education on healthy eating patterns for infants, pregnant women, and nursing mothers, and to increase the involvement of men as fathers and posyandu cadres. Furthermore, we need to provide adequate health-service facilities and infrastructure for every community, vitalize the Youth Family Development program (B.K.R.), and improve the coordination among local stakeholders in the area. Lastly, adequate remuneration should be provided for posyandu cadres to help them work more effectively.
